It is a handsome refresh, but GM can't come close to Toyota's reliability. How many components will a GM owner replace in 10-15 years with 200k plus miles compared to a Toyota? My last new vehicle was a GM. It's 15 years old w/250k mile, and Toyota and Honda comparables haven't had to replace a 1/3 of what I've replaced. I will shop quality, not price next time.
@mcnuggetapple Oh really, Mr. Know-it-all?! Before this new car hit 160k miles, I replaced the racknpinion, fuel pump, water pump, a/c compressor, power steering pump, electronic ignition computer system, starter relay switches, and replaced the radiator, not to mention regular maintenance. I don't need a receipt to know Toyota and Honda owners don't replace those items until well after 200k miles. The car now has 250k miles. GM quality could never compare to Japanese import quality. Just ask any mechanic. I've changed the oil every 3,500 miles, and flushed the tranny every 50k, religiously! That's why it's at 250k. I know how to take care of my vehicle. I can't repair poor quality. 😊
The 2024 equinox with the same engine but more torque and fwd had 28 mpg combined and 31 highway. The 2025 has the same engine, less torque, fwd and only 27 mpg combined and 28 highway! Backward progress, way to go GM! No thanks on this offering!
So it sounds like the engine isn't that powerful, but it still will get less gas mileage than the Rav4, that doesn't make sense. I would think it would get better gas mileage.
I recently leased a '25 Trax and would have gone for an Equinox had it been in my budget. That said, I also traded in a '23 Ford for the Trax, and by no means was it really a step down. The fit and finish of the Trax is better, the features it came with, while part of two option packages, were on par in cost with the Ford yet brought more advanced features for thousands less. It also rides better, the interior is more comfortable, and feels to be better quality despite both models being among the cheapest offerings. Would I be worried about the output ratings of the 1.5L engine: No! As my father always said, gearing can make a world of difference, even with less power. In the trax with a smaller engine, the tiny 1.2L turbo moves it quite well -- yes, it's not a speedster, but in daily life, unless you tend to drive like a complete idiot, where can you responsibly drive a vehicle at full output continually? I suspect gm did the same thing here, geared it for daily driving situations, not trips to the racetrack. For most people who are honest, this will be completely fine for 95% of their driving. Yes, I'd love to see the 2.0L turbo from the Cobalt/HHR SS as an option, but in a world where EPA standards highly influence production, I sadly suspect those days are all but gone. Sure, a hybrid option which could enhance off the line acceleration and around town efficiency would still be a nice choice to have too.

This new equinox will never be a success with the price they’re asking unless they give us at least a 2.0L with at least 200 hp. They want too much for what it has to offer.
Looks good, but it's still a Chevy and you'll be in the shop every single year after the 3rd year of ownership, and in those first 3 years you'll deal with constant electrical or infotainment issues. There is a reason the majority of people don't buy these. Those that do are either Chevy loyalists, or those that can't justify paying the extra $ for a Toyota because they are short sighted.

The Equinox is the vehicle that Toyota is afraid to make! Grant it, it has a reliable reputation. However, the styling inside and out is subpar compared to this new Equinox. Toyota needs to bring the "fun" to their lineup. The competition is flexing their muscles hard. Truth be told, I didn't expect Chevy to do a 360 with their styling and technology. Now Chevy needs to add a performance trim with more hp and a hybrid option. That's where it falls short with the Rav4. Hopefully, Toyota will take notice and improve the next generation. And no half-stepping with feature content, like the CR-V. You still can't get ventilated seats, a 360 camera, HUD, a full digital dash, and most importantly, a panoramic sunroof! It's the only vehicle in its class (besides the Mazda CX-5) that don't offer a panoramic roof.

I have the 2022 RS and mpg is very good compared to what we had before a Jeep Cherokee night and day mileage. I think with the 8 speed this 1.5 will be class leading in MPG.
questionable reliability IMO....will be the deciding factor.
This new equinox will never be a success with the price they’re asking unless they give us at least a 2.0L with at least 200 hp. They want too much for what it has to offer.
Definitely not! Toyota will outlast that all day long!
Anemic engine!
You're talking bull shit bro, I have one from 2019 and it hasn't given me any problems, they are very good.
We have a 2017 and 180k miles later no issues that you speak of
It still a toyota with a dumpster looking like interior
@@carlosovni7100 That's good to hear. Everyone I know that has one has had non-stop issues.
@@Mr.BobbyBrown Yeah I have a 2022 Equinox with 20 million miles on it and it has negative issues (park an unreliable car next to it and that car becomes reliable). Of course, I'm just a rando on the internet and will never show you my car's pictures. But you should believe me!!
GM build quality with a CVT... how about HELLZ NO.
It also comes without cvt if you get awd
The tiny weak engine doesn't match with the brawny look.
No hybrid? RIP GM. How are these companies still in business no way selling trucks can support all these crap cars they put out. US brands are so bad at making cars attractive why? I own a Escape PHEV.
Kinda ugly like Tesla. Companies need to stop putting turbos in. Way too expensive to fix
It’s barely new, not mostly new. ZERO hybrid. Hard pass!
Nope
Chevy junk comparing with a toyota rav4. Thats laughable.
Lease. Never buy.
Why
Well said. Toyota are seriously lagging behind the competition and "reliability" isn't an excuse.
Dude, the current Rav4 came out about 5 or 6 years ago of course this is going to have more tech and features. Come back when the new generation comes out In about a year or so.
@@yissibiiyte Toyota and Honda are being too content. It's like they live in a bubble from the outside world. The tired excuse I get from loyalist consumers is get an Acura or Lexus to get those features. But why when their competition is already bringing luxury features and technology to their mainstream cars? I don't know about you, but as a consumer, I want feel "rich" getting in my vehicle, even if it's not a luxury car, not a rental fleet. It's like being forced to an arrange marriage. Husband/Wife is not going anywhere. But they are sure is ugly!
@@Tritonal92 It has been "refreshed" twice and still no improvements with technology. Toyota also needs to stop dragging their feet with their redesign. The new Rav4 will be debut as a 2026 model. This generation debuted in 2019. That's a long time, dude.
@jraheemjefcoat429 they don't have to rush the redesign yet because they are still selling like hot cakes lol.
Way Over-designed front End Is BUTT UGLY!!
lol no it’s just a prettier piece of garbage. Face it, you only buy this if you can’t afford the Toyota
Junk. As usual from GM
Congratulations Chevy builds another rental fleet vehicle. Any trim above the base model is outrageously priced. When you compare feature for feature there is WAAAYYY better value for your money available from Honda, Toyota, Mazda. Heck even the Koreans will kick this things A$$. Take into account GM reliability ratings, why would anyone give this thing a second look?! It might be a bit bigger than the above mentioned competitors, but what good is that when it doesn’t have enough power to get out of its own way?!
Garbage engine, rather get a hybrid with double the mpg for $39K.
Junk
Chevy chinese quality ? Better to buy a used toyota
A mechanic once told me these are throw away vehicles, never buy them over Toyota.
Gullible men 😩
@@Natethegreat200cnot really gullible just know what good quality looks like 😂
@@cormaro13 or what people tell you it is. lol. It’s sad
@@Natethegreat200c what’s sad is Chevy still being around lol , already own 3 of those pos and they weren’t great , nothing but constant repairs vs their Japanese counterpart, put me down for Japan every time , keep your trash please lol , life has been great since I got rid of my junk 😆
