    I feel your pain on the wiring harness. I've been thinking of doing the budget RyWire kit my self, but think that's a project for another day since I just spent $200 on a OEM D series Vtec harness to get the car on the road. I now have 3 wiring harnesses for the car. USDM CX harness, JDM B16 harness, and now a USDM D16Z6 harness. Maybe if I can sell off some of my spares I can justify it.
    Oh and I ran that same setup on my B20B swap in a EK. Throttle response on the low end leaves a lot to be desired. But the mid range pickup and top end is greatly improved. I don't imagine you'll be below 3K RPMS much in that car so it shouldn't really effect you much. The top end gains will be worth it in your application.

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  3 года назад

      It sounds like you don’t necessarily need the harness quite yet, so it makes sense to not have to buy more harnesses. The throttle response down low is definitely on my mind, but like you said, this thin should be spending most of its time well above that.

    You know you don't need the car on to calibrate the TPS? You just have to hook two of the wires Red and the middle on to a multi meter and set it to ohms. You can use the stock on and get the reading from that and set the new to the same setting. This way you don't have to cut/spice in to the wires.

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  3 года назад +1

      Yup! Well aware of that option as well. Good way to do it as long as you haven’t already removed the TPS lol

  • @TheSXTNYNR
    @TheSXTNYNR Год назад +2

    Hey man, very informative vid. I came across a similar tps reading on my sons b20 vtec with skunk 2 IM and aftermarket TB. After trying to adjust the Tps for a good while, i pulled the tb off, removed the tps and compared the slot location that the tps sits in. I had to loosen the screw that holds the tps plate and adjust to same level/setting as stock unit, tighten that screw and reinstalled everything back. That fixed the 1volt minimum and 5volt max I was getting back to .5 to 4.5 volt W.O.T. Maybe this can help someone else having a similar problem.

    • @bvspeed

    Oh my gosh that’s exactly what happened to my TPS… guess what I found out after hour and hours of banging my head on the wall. The TPS from the auto stores are sh*t. I could turn my enough to get the right voltage like it was made wrong. I went with my open one… perfect!

    What made you decide to go with the Alpha Throttle Body (70mm) over the Pro series and what intake did you use? I heard you have to use an ITR short ram or cold air intake (AEM) Since the GSR will not work anymore. Is this true? If not, does the GSR AEM intake (short ram or cold air) still work? Thanks!

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  2 года назад +2

      Purely cost! With this being a track car, the billet pro-series was simply just for bling points and that’s why I went with the Alpha. Yes, you’re correct about the intake. The stock GSR intake manifold sits really low so of course the intake is designed specifically for that. The new S2 intake manifold places the throttle body at a much higher location which requires you to have to modify your current intake or get a new one.

    • @bvspeed
      @bvspeed  3 года назад +1

      Keep power steering if you’d like! I don’t think there’s a wrong or right answer here. If you track the car regularly and you’ve got a wiiiiide front setup, I’m sure power steering would be really nice. I don’t think it robs enough horsepower to consider removing it.
