+el bicho feo Thanks Dave, I appreciate it. Yeah, I couldn't leave that Babi. I found it at the end of small record show, which is amazing to me because I know a lot of people passed on it.
Whoa man, some heavy stuff. Creative arts ensemble is massive. Also need the synchro. Love Harlem river drive and the cymande. Those may be the only two out of the lot that I have. Your videos are great. It seems like you always have stuff that's on my want list. Either that, or you're adding more to it. In either case, it's always a pleasure. Take care
+johnra 1 Thanks, man! I'm glad you enjoy the videos. Took me forever to find an OG of Harlem River Drive... people just don't part with that one, it seems. The Synchro is worth tracking down for sure. Thanks again.... hope all is well.
Hey Tony! Some fantastic jazz pickups for sure. I actually want to focus my comments on the Grateful Dead. I have a very soft spot in my heart and collection for those folks. I can say with certainty that their improvisational journeys were a gateway to my love of jazz....and beyond that my interest in bluegrass and classic country. I came up through the blues, so that's always been there. For me they are one of the most American bands with all of their influences on display. At least once a year I go on a Dead binge, and always will. When I hear them it's like pressing a mental reset button. I wouldn't call myself a Dead Head per se, but they loomed large for people of my vintage who were attracted to a more alternative lifestyle. I appreciate you bringing them up. 'Hooteroll' is such an awesome cover, and at the time ballsy to show Garcia passing Wales a joint on the back. Haha classic!...and the music ain't bad either. Have a good one - Teddy
+eat.sleep.vinyl Teddy! It's so great to hear you say this about the Dead. They seem to get no love in the VC, which I don't quite get. I was trying to think of a more important American band, regarding influence, songwriting, playing... I'm not sure I could really think of one. It's exactly those influences that make them great... where else can you hear straight rock n' roll, blues, folk, free improvisation, blue grass, country, acid rock.... and epic, ethnic percussion solos? They were so unique in that all the members kinda came from different areas of musical influence, Jerry in the folk and blue grass, Phil had his modern classical/Minimalist training (even worked with Steve Reich and studied under Stockhausen for a time...before joining the Warlocks), Pigpen with Blues and R&B, Weir straight rock n roll.... and all of them loved Trane, Miles and Ornette.... I don't know... I loved them growing up but I think listening to Jazz so much gave me a new appreciation for them. I just regret I was too young to see them live... I have seen other members since Jerry passed. Anyway, of course I'm preaching to the converted. Would love to hear you mention The Dead in a video the next time you are in the middle of your annual Dead-kick. Thanks for watching and commenting... always appreciated!
+MrFartboy79 ...I agree with you that while they helped me get to jazz....jazz has provided a fresh view of them. But here's the clincher...my daughter was born the day Jerry died.
Hey Zach... right on. Thanks man. I hope to pick it up again sometime. We'll see. Hope you're doing alright... don't let the fuckers get ya down! :) Cheers -Tony
Hey Tony, nice to see the US version of Lizzy's first, that's one you almost never see over here. Love the Howard & Jerry album, still need to find a copy. I only have my old Rykodisc CD that I bought in the 90's. A pleasure to watch, as always, cheers! / Jens
+Oakenshield1969 Hey Jens... thanks man! Yeah, Thin Lizzy's early albums are tough pulls. I found another one which I'll show soon. Yes, love that Hooteroll.... let's face it, Jerry at his peak was a master! Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope you are well. -Tony
Great video Tony as always. I have a love of Thin Lizzie myself. Fun band , I love playing their early albums , like their first people never expect that coming Thin lizzy.. I give anything to find a lovely copy of that Coltrane album and Kirk albums. Man just perfect. Major scores with Milford Graves . Definite a favorite of mine. Interface I don't own. Have most of the others. Love cry another favorite . Harlem River drive great find there. Thanks for posting this.
+Rick Barnes Hey Rick, thanks man. We gonna see a new video from you soon? Now that I think of it, most of these were found locally. I was psyched to find that Trane...at Redscroll and for $20 no less. That was a good day. Thin Lizzy is great... I still need Shades of a Blue Orphanage. Love Heldon. I have more of their stuff to show soon. Hope all is well and you are enjoying the fall... my favorite time of year. Looks like you are enjoying the Cub Scouts with your boy. Have fun! Thanks for watching and commenting. -Tony
hey tony..holy bazoongas u got a lot of records man..DUDE THAT THIN LIZZY!! one of my grails..I've got to pick that one up soon..I just got that nirvana record on white vinyl..will have to check out that wales & Garcia record..great damned record I have it on yellow vinyl..creative arts record..great stuff..cool vid I've subbed
+MrJoenaz TOO MANY. I'm drowning over here! Help! Haha... Yeah man, I knew that Thin Lizzy's early records were tough to find but I didn't think this tough... many comments refer to it being a tough pull. I have another early one to show next time. Still need Shades of a Blue Orphanage though. Yeah, I'm just happy to find a 89 pressing of Bleach. I found a first US press of Nevermind which I showed in my last video. Those go for silly money these days. Got it for a good deal. Anyway....Thanks for watching and for the sub! Much appreciated. Take care.
ha ha ha..u got it bad bro :) I will get that tin lizzy as they say in Ireland..look 4ward to more vids..stay cool & check out some of mine if u get a chance
+Earhead Six Yeah, those Bonniwell Music Machine LPs are tough... the prices are just silly sometimes. I would keep both VU's if space wasn't an issue. I need to figure out something for storage soon or I may have to purge (yikes!). We'll see what happens. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Starting off with a grail,Genesis debut!Seriously rare.Thin Lizzy debut, nice.Don't see it too often even here in Ireland and very pricey when you do.Have seen og Bleach go for a lot.Very nice looking Cymande copy. Two copies of WL/WH,nice!Excellent Krautrock scores.Great Impulse/jazz finds.
+darkdubh Thanks man. Yeah that Genesis is a tough one... cant believe I found it at my local store. I'm surprised to hear that about Thin Lizzy's debut... I figured it'd be at least easier to find in Ireland. Such a great band. I still need Shades of a Blue Orphanage... never, ever see that one, just the recent reissue. I did find an OG of Vagabonds recently too... still need to show that one. I thought you'd appreciate those Krautrock scores. All found locally, which is amazing... OG Krautrock is tough in these parts. Thanks for watching and commenting... Cheers, Tony
Would you believe I saw Orphanage in the window of a local bookshop/secondhand record store about two years ago as I was on my way to work?It was early in the morning and they weren't yet open so coulden't do anything about it,of course when I looked there next time it was gone:(
That has to be the mintiest Cymande i have ever seen! The ones i normally see are beat to hell. Hooteroll is a bigtime want. Great to see you Tony, hope your doing well.
+James Buttery Hey James, thanks man. Yeah, I was psyched to find that Cymande for sure... and locally! Still have never found their other two albums. The reissues were around a few years back but I always passed. Hooteroll is excellent! Check out Jerry's work with Merl Saunders too... it's also very Jazzy and funky as hell.
Some things I am feeling you on are Cymande, "Mutations", Roland Kirk, Coltrane, Milford Graves, "Nommo", Harlem River Drive, "Burning Spirits", "Lambi", and "One Step Out". Such big pulls man, geeze. It's been a good month!
+OnTheTurntable Haha...thanks man! Glad you enjoyed. It's been a good year. Some of these I've had for a while. Still more to come. I've got a surplus of records to show.
Nice stack Tony. Cymande has been a favourite for many years (Obscure classic #2! I just looked on my channel). I am a huge fan of the Wales/Garcia LP. That's the only Dead-related LP still in my collection (I still have Live Dead on CD, mind you). Mutations is when I really discovered Beck proper. I had heard Loser on the radio prior obviously, but this was my first real immersion in the world of Beck. Amazing LP form start to finish. Faust IV is a must. I just hipped Anthony Camplone to Lustwandel. He picked it up during our last dig which I posted yesterday. Carsten Meinert is dope. Coltrane on Impulse = AMAZING. Nice copy of Interface. Synchro is killer. Great stack.
+bigstar1000 Hey Fred, yes, I remember Obscure Classic #2 well. Pretty sure it turned me on to the album. Hooteroll? is fantastic... have you checked out Jerry's work with Merl Saunders? It's also very Jazzy and Funky. I also recommend an honest reevaluation of the Grateful Dead. I've been a fan since I was a kid but I gotta say, I think getting deeply into Jazz has really given me a new appreciation for what they do. I've been listening to a lot of live recordings and videos here on RUclips (there are a lot) and man, on a good night there was no one better... as band doing group improvisation, they were capable of operating on level with Coltrane's Quartet. All those influences and backgrounds... it's crazy how it just works when you wouldn't think it would (well, see Teddy's comments and my own response on here). Live Dead is one of the best but I think Europe 72 has replaced it as my favorite Dead release. Those songs are just so well written and performed. Yeah Mutations is fantastic... so happy to find it... wasn't cheap but had to have it. It's probably the last of Beck's albums I really needed. Mellow Gold blew me away when it came out... I thought it was so bizarre then lol. I found a copy of Odelay recently too. That one doesn't hold up as well imo, but it's certainly not bad. I saw him on that tour... he opened for Neil Young. I was into Beck at that time but the show was not good, I thought it didn't work too well live imo... others I know loved it. I believe I paid $20 for that Trane... and it's NM... I left the store really happy that day. Synchro is killer. It gets better every time I spin it. I bought it from Superfly records in Paris back in May... did you get it from them as well? Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting, Fred. Much appreciated. P.S. Is Kamasi Washington coming to your area soon? Pretty sure he's going to tour OZ. If so, I HIGHLY recommending seeing him. It was, hands down, one of the best shows I've seen. It was probably everything I'd want in a Jazz show. A great night of music. Cheers.
Hi Tony Genesis for $20! It usually goes for £50+ over here, so probably triple what you paid. Love those Dead releases. I have been listening to Roland Kirk's We Free Kings in the car a lot. It's probably my new favourite Jazz album. I haven't heard anything else by him though. Take care Kevin
+DocStrangelyStrange Hey Kevin, really, that much for Genesis? I figured I got a good deal but didn't think that much. Cool. I know it sold poorly when released. Yeah man, I love the Dead... now I'm regretting not picking up some of their RSD releases but I'll get the ones I'm missing eventually. I'm still fairly new to Roland Kirk.... I have a few of his records, they're rarely expensive, but I'll check out We Free Kings... thanks for the tip. Thanks for watching and commenting. Always appreciated. -Tony

Great stuff as usual. We have similar taste. You get a LOT of choice first pressings. Do you normally get these locally or through the mail? Being in Canada, I've found the shipping from the US to be pretty high over the last year and my mail orders have gone right down. Either way, your purchases must total to a small fortune, good deals on Bäbi or not ;)
Hey thanks man. Glad you enjoy. Well, both really. The majority of my purchases are local.... about 6 or 7 of the records in this video are online purchases and only one of these from overseas (Lambi).
