I e been listening to Ella for over 60 years. Nobody compares. Her voice is dripping with honey and simultaneously cool, edgy, and smooth. How does she do that?!?
You Know It, and those Ella and Louis albums were the best. The FIRST TIME I saw Ella was with Tommy Flanagan's Trio, on the same bill with Count Basie. My Dad was an established guitarist, so I got to go backstage, and meet Freddy Green, and Ella HUGGED ME and KISSED ME. I saw her later with Joe Pass, who was a friend of the family. I grew up in the 1960's, and I'd ask my Dad what do you think about Cream, and he'd tell me, "Why do you listen to the crap?" THANKS FOR HAVING RESPECT FOR GREAT ARTIST'S
Can we really talk about an original version in jazz music ? Do you want to talk about the Adelaide Hall version ? Ben Selvin ? Annette Hanshaw ? Louis Armstrong & Lillie Delk Christian ? Cliff Edwards ? Which is the original one for you ?

Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald...AND I used to delight in singing this playful and flirtatious number. If anybody knows the actual name of that cassette please let me know so I can get it on eBay. This is AMAZING!!!! I love Ella. If i were alive in a time where she was alive, I would make it my dream to go to one of her concerts.
I did, with my wife in 1981, at the Fairmont Hotel in SF. One of her last performances, something I will never forget. Simply amazing

And Rose Murphy on the 2nd

this swings like Crazaiyyyy
Maravilhosa! Como descrever?
Chichi is for Marylin Monroe
No, it was for Rose Murphy
:)
why could it been cool so that Ella would not have to wipe sweat from her like this??
that's the Satchmo impersonation...
Theaters are hot places. Performers knew this
Full-blown lights on the stage with no aircon...
Who's the pianist ?
I don't know, but the other cats are the Oscar Peterson crew...
Elvis presley? Did she have a crush or something lol curious to the reference
jimmy ranney on guitar?
Looks like Herb Ellis to me. Interesting he plays his rhythm chords by sweeping UP on the strings, and not down.
@@steverupprecht1099probably just audio delay in the video itself. Definitely hitting hard on them down strokes
