  • My older TV antenna finally broke during a wind storm. The little motor that controlled it's direction gave out and now it spins in the wind. I decided to try this unit from Antop to see if a omni directional antenna would work well here.
So far it has potential . I'll need to get up on the roof when the weather clears to put it where the other unit was so I can finish my tests.

TV antenna technology has gotten a lot better over the years . Those pre-amps really help . I miss my huge antenna and the stations I got when I lived out in the country a few years ago . I may put up another one next year . I had the internet guy check and label everything for me in my junction splitter box when he came and did the internet hookup . So I’m all set . Just have to put up an antenna and feed the coax into the main box outside , everything else from previous homeowner was already tan from the splitter (coax) under the house to all the bedrooms and living room .

When I was in the states on holiday, I was having a look at the channels available and ended up looking at BBC America. But then I may have a leaning towards British things.

Howdy...In the dark of the night...what do you prefer to listen to...A newer transistor type ham style radio or a old tube type radio?

Wouldn't it be best to create a 1/4 wave dipole antenna out of PVC and coax?
That's what we in Puerto Rico use as TV antennas and it's less than $15 in materials
And if reception is not great, then maybe use a Walmart $5 amp?

I have that antenna. Watch Chris and Sherrie's You tube channels. Techno media for those of you that like Rving and boating and their Ant-top channel for their mobile cell phone, internet booster antennas , and mobile RV boating TV antenna's. For outdoor home use in fringe area's with the recent FCC television repack I recommend the Televis outdoor long range Data Boss Ltr. It comes with a pass through smart LTE filter amplifier and both VHF and UHF antenna elements. The pass through feature on the amplifier allows the antenna to work if the amplifier goes bad. The Televis antenna will pick up tv stations from roughly 70-80 miles away depending on atmospheric conditions. Possibly longer depending on tropospheric ducting.

Interesting device. I'm a bit confused on how a "Panel antenna" can be omnidirectional. I'm interested to see/hear how you install it out side.
As always, thanks for the great content!!

When it comes to certain antennas, height is your friend, unless you fall off the roof installing it.
