- Randy Piper is one of the founding members of W.A.S.P. Randy has relocated to the Seattle area and is in the process of putting together a powerhouse band. Here is an old classic off of W.A.S.P.s 1984 self titled album performed at a memorial show for Alice In Chains bassist Mike Starr @ Seattle's Studio Seven.
Never understood why they let Randy leave and Blackie took up rhythm. Band was at their best with Randy.
Well now you are talking! I agree 100%
You can't make some one do something they don't want to do. Randy's exit couldn't be stopped. When Blackie got too controlling he called it quits. Plus he stood in Chris's shadow. I'd quit too under those circumstances.
Long live randy. I think blackie just wanted to go more glam when he brought in johnny rod.
I heard he was heavily in debt after the tour so he sold his shares in the band to Blackie. Who wanted to go back on guitar. I think Randy said it on Eddie trunk?
Blackie kicked Chris , Randy & Steve out … now WASP blows with blackie the one man band … when I seen them a few times in 1984 they were at the top of their game with the best lineup 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Randy Is the pure raw metal from W.A.S.P.
¡¡¡¡¡ Up The Pipester !!!!!
I love those early WASP albums with Randy.
Me too
Live At The Lyceum 1984 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Why do people keep griping on this singer. He got rocker's tone. He ain't Blackie so what? The guy sounds great. Randy keep him.
sucks!!!! so what??!!
Yo!!! That Cadillac guitar is fucking sick!!! Very cool!!!
Great to see that Randy is still performing, and doing it well !
This totally kicked ass! Great job filming it - its great to see Randy Piper rocking again - this is what WASP of today lacks that bottom edge sound Randy brings.
Massive version. Randy is the only who sing w.a.s.p. second voice sooo good
Sounds like Bobby Blitz..
The singer sounds like UDO from Accept!
True ! Good catch
I was more thinking Sebastian Bach. 🤷♂️
I thought the same thing
Why do you film the bass player during the guitar solo, really perverted thing to do
It is too much to ask to stay with the lead guitar when is soloing?
Randy Rocks!!! 🎸
This was awesome!! Fkn great vocals! Really amazed.
Lead singer has a bit of Sebastian Bach vibe to him 👍
@@cjbecker1683 I was thinking more of a Jim Gillette vibe.
@@trance9158 Sadly I've never heard of him I'll have to check him out 👍
@@trance9158 Agreed B Hop ! This Piper material is great . Hope you’re feeling better man and happy holidays .
That singer Blows 🤣🤣🤣
Haha, way to go Randy! I used to go see them at the Troubadour in '83 when I was 13! I was just waiting for that Caddy guitar to start pumpin' smoke outta those exhaust pipes. Randy said he knew it was over when Blackie was showing him the cover art for The Last Command. Blackie was like, "So the cover will have ME like this, and the back will have ME like that, and the inside will have ME like so," etc. He said it wasn't feeling like a band anymore. And sure enough, things began to fracture on the next record (Electric Circus), basically because Randy was the one guy who wouldn't take Blackie's shit, since he'd been with him from the very start. Read "Sting In The Tale" by Darren Upton. Try Ebay.
Black Death 1347 Thanks for that info brother, I’m gonna pick it up. I love getting lost in a good read. Check out Off the Rails by Rudy Sarzo if you haven’t already, lots of Randy Rhoads info...🤘🏼
@@atarikid6719 Yeah, I have Rudy's book, but I find him so intensely boring, I couldn't even finish it. The details about Randy are the only reason to crack that book at all. I remember being at a book store and reading a book (that I swear was Rudy's, according to my hazy memory) and it told a story about the band being at the beach, and Randy was talking about leaving the band (he hated having to record what would later become the "Tribute" album and play all those Sabbath songs, and was obviously redone by Brad Gillis) and a completely wasted and pissed-ff Ozzy decked Randy into the shallow water they stood in. That's why, years later, I bought Rudy Sarzo's book, to read about that particular incident again, but it's not in there! It's just Rudy, being lethally boring the entire time.
@@creepshowcrate, he is a mediocre bass player at best. A career built upon copying Bob Daisley's superior skills.
@@ButThatsShacksTrain When it comes to Blackie Lawless, its not about superior bass skills. It's about the most important thing: songwriting. And Blackie is an outstanding songwriter.
, actually, I was talking about Rudy Sarzo. Sorry i didnt clarify.
If anything, that singer though.. I’m blown away by the singer.
Si está cabrón esa garganta quien es??
His voiice remind me of someone i can't place?
Randy Chris Both Awesome
This is the best performance of this song I've ever heard/seen. Rock on Randy!
I always liked 'Pipes'. Lol! He can scream those backup vocals perfectly.
I know Randy appreciates it. Yes, a rare moment that hopefully soon will become more frequent.
Just WTF is wrong with this dude?? Focusing the camera on the bass player whilst Randy Piper is on fire shredding on Helion's guitar solo not to mention he is playing Holmes' parts as well. I mean dude c'mon it's Randy's band and it ain't fucking W.A.S.P. ffs..
Gonna hand it to Randy for his unique lookin guitars,-chopped the rear of a Cadillac...
Wouldn't that be cool to see him and Chris Holmes share the stage once again?!! They should try it... and without Blackie!
I disagree. They need Blackie. It would be awesome to see them share the stage again. With Blackie included. It's the only way to do the song(s) justice. Especially a classic like HELLION.
I dunno. Holmes just doesnt have the merciless craze playing now. I think Blackie, Randy, Holmes and Mikkey Dee would be a destructive thang. If Blackie could get back on it like Widowmaker and The Torture Never Stops kind of stuff. I'd love to see them get together just once more...for the good times.🎶🔱🤪
Without Blackie it isn't WASP
@@maesep9885 You are exactly right. The voice, the lyricist, the entertainer, the buisnessman.
@@maesep9885 This is beside the subject but I've always thought Blackie and Vivian Campbell would be great together on a side project.
Randy can sing
Don't like the voice of the vocalist, everything is just perfect
Fucking Good Singer!!! Actually thought it was Vince Neil at first......not that Vince is the best singer.
Saul is such a fuckin monster on the drums used to party in his parents basement and watch him and Mark Mathiasen just tear it up awesome clip
Randy piper was WASP. Without him it doesn't sound the same. Why do you think WASP has had soooo many personnel changes over the years. Blackie can't find the sound THAT IS Randy Piper.
Blackie used Randy, took what he could and dumped him, but Randy rose from those ashes and is doing just fine on his own terms, to bad Belle isn't around anymore to cheer him on
Truth be known, this isn't live. 100% recorded in the studio and played back through the PA.
Who is guy singing?
It seems like Blackie copied Randy's vocal style)
WTF is Randy playing here? It looks like he has attached strings to a car wing.
Lucas Clevenger? Gotta look him up. Wild vocals.
guy sounds like Udo
He Wouldnt go amiss singing for motley crue 😊👍
Nah, Udo sang much higher, at least 2 sizes of panties smaller.
I feel bad for all of the people who never got to see the real thing back in 84. That's the only good thing about being older.
Like you did. 🤣
Its true.. the camera is all over the place!! not only that but it sounds like the live track has been doctored with a studio recording..
When it comes to guitar solo u video bass player! Fail!!
Randy Piper,Chris Holmes,Blackie Lawless Always Had Big Bad Gutairs
Isn’t that the bass player for metal church? 2:51
He always played weird guitars
My Options on The W.A.S.P Gutair,Bass,Drums is

#2-The Original drummer I forget his name lol-82-84
#3-Frankie Banalie-89-92,off &on few times helping on Albums and tours
original drummer was Tony Richards.
Not sure why or whose to blame for the original WASP lineup to fall apart. But when you put Randy Piper and Chris Holmes twin monster guitar slaying and Blackies haunting vocals on stage together it works musically. Those 3 should say look, were all older and not getting any younger lets get Frankie Banalli on drums and set the world on fire with the heaviest version of WASP and kick everyones ass in the process.
Can't argue there. Put the past behind them and rock out and just kick everyone else square right in the ass. Would love a heaviest version of W.A.S.P.
It would be nice to see Randy Piper,Chris Holmes,Blackie Lawless & Steve Riley play together again as W.A.S.P. the current lineup of W.A.S.P. might as well be the Blackie Lawless Band. Chris lives in France now and has no plans on coming back to live in the U.S. and i dont think he gets along to well with Blackie...
My idol. Named my daughter after him
sounded good to me. this is rock and roll. not a fuken beauty pageant. what's w the the hyper critical comments,Randy was part of one of the greatest bands ever. he got fuked outa a great gig let em rock.dammit
Still Got it Randy!!!
Thyere leaving out the G when they go from A to F , almost like playing the easy version of it, however, they jammed it & it sounded good, just that my ears are use to the original version .
Моё почтение , Великому Рэнди !
Picture a collob between him and Ace!
What a great recording!
Love the vocals!!
Who's singing?
I dig this singer,,he's got some pipes on him.
Sorry man...was a bit cheeky of me! Atleast you posted a good video of something rare on here.
Sorry, Blackie Lawless is the only one who can sing this song to its full potential.
im sure more open minded people would disagree with you
who is singing??
I agree. The vocalist on this version is terrible. Piper's still got it but the vocals are shit.
The singer doesn't suit the song IMO.
its a memorial show for fucks sake its a fun night out jamming and relieving the good old days, yes he is not blackie but there is only one blackie dont watch it if its that offensive
Who's the singer??!!!...
GREAT CINEMA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!INDEED! ! ! !.
i missed half the solo because you turned the camera to the bass player! WTF were you doing!
Overdubbed audio track to a live vid...???
Who is the fucking vocals ???
guitar kick asses :)
Steve Unger from Metal Church on bass!
Sounds like Vince Neil singing
Truth is this was my first show using my D600 and a hotshoe mounted mic. I normally shoot stills at shows but wanted to get into some video too. Problem was as I followed diff parts of the performance this close to the stage, the sound would drop off. I learned something from that. Best to just use a tripod and focus in from some distance back. As far as the sound, Piper loved the video and wanted to have the file to see if he can fix it. Him and Craig Church (the other guitarist) fixed that.
Yo!! You filmed this!!! Nice job with the recording!! It really sounds great!!
I and two metal head friends intercepted Randy walking from the San Diego Ports Arena to a steak house in a neighboring parking lot. Chatted him up till he got near then respecfully broke off the fan stalking manuvers LOL He was cool. Asked if the place was worth eating at.Edit: I thought that bass player looked like Steve Unger LOL Chatted him up at a local venue his kids band was playing a few years ago.
Some musicians even though they aren't the lead singer of the band are the essence of what the bands is. When Randy left W.A.S.P they never quite got that back. Something was missing. It got even worse when Chris Holmes was gone. Those guys were the book ends that completed that band. They fueled the W.A.S.P fire. Just listen to those first 2 albums.
I agree 100%
Their best album by far was without Randy. Headless Children was one of the best metal albums of the decade hands down.
@@wesbates1143 Crimson Idol
Stuck in the 80's forever lol
blackie lawless forever vjáfá
Randy always Rocks!! He's a phenomenal guitar designer and player. If I were Blackie I would have kept Randy, and sacrificed others if I was forced to let someone go. I've read over and over that people told Randy "You are too nice" to be in this band - in reference to WASP. Blackie said he wanted a band that looked like he had a bunch of tough guys like (can't remember exactly what he said) ex-prisoners? Then ended up having to change out everyone 🤣🤣Randy was always my favorite of Blackie's crew! He was just the best!! Rock On!! 😁😁👍🎶🎵🎸
I Love guitar players from WASP ,,,,,,.....esp. Chris holmes and Randy piper,,,,,,...The best
Wow that vocal mic has some delay on it.The drummer is interesting.Huh. I read where Randy and David Wayne(Metal Church) had worked together some. I wish that would've produced a tour and an album. Randy Piper was THE BEST lead guitarist for W.A.S.P. I saw The Last Command show and man it was hellacious. The whole band of course but Randy's sound and style was perfect for them.Combined with Holmes' sound, it was bad ass. Go Randy...Maybe I'll jam with him someday....
is that Unger on bass?
Who's the singer?
Blackie lawless?
Bandazaaa y un Temonnnn gracias W.A.S.P.
That singer sucks...Randy, plz get back with Blackie and Chris and do it right...
Quien canta?
I’m a huge wasp fan and think this is awesome version no the singer isn’t blackie but still damn good
randy piper
i've a question for Randy,if Blackie asked him,would he return to W.A.S.P.?
Randy blisters here this is fucking great best WASP lineup was when Randy and Chris were in the band together.

Love it! See ya at the SLC date this year. When you play, Im backsliding into the mid 70s n 80s. Been playing since KISS. Your defiantly in key and I'm there, as I have a 9 piece, my 10th. Your Awsome!!
SLC? What is that? 😁
❤
Randy better get his ass in motion he already had auditions in November and hasn't done shit since, I heard he has an amazing 19 year old kid that shreds and does vocals?
Doesn't have the W.A.S.P. "feel" to it.. Randy Rock's but this doesn't kick ass!! \m/ in fact Randy's vocal's sound better than the actual guy singing ;)
Hi trupr. I realy like this song, soooo good !!!!! I search on net to find it.....i want it......but where can i buy this song in mp3? HELP !!!
Randy is an amazing guitar player
Randy du bist super Singler!Ich mag deine Musik🤟👍
Sad
fucking hell!! great randy!!! :)
Wow saw him at the troubadour 84 in wasp
Did the vocals had some kind of fx.
Randy Piper 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Singer sounds good like a young Udo
he be better singing motley crue
I'll always be a fan
I like Randy's 🎸.
any seen Randy in the last several years? It's gotta be rough on him. He's in his late 60's with absolutely nothing. He gave everything up for music has nothing to show for it.
Ran into both Randy and Chris Holmes together at NAMM in Anaheim a few years back. Both were extremely nice. Randy was very cool. They both posed for a photo and Randy gave me one of his signature guitar picks. Dream moment for a W.A.S.P fan like myself.
@@MKPlaysGuitar I wish Chris and Randy the best of luck in the future.
Killer! RANDY RULES!!
I love those cool guitars.
great sound. i love it
