Personally, I don’t bother with raffles but I see value in them. It’s an opportunity for those who can’t afford to buy the car outright. We had local agricultural group attempt to fix a raffle for a Massey Ferguson only to get caught out on camera. I’d imagine that sort of mischief goes on more than you’d think. You wouldn’t pay tax selling a second hand car privately so I don’t see the foul.
I’m super happy to say I got my rep HFP front lip and side skirts painted and put it on this weekend and sooo happy on how they came out just need to find a rear HFP lip and I will be done with the outside lol for now

On a different note... 10 cars have become 11. I could not resist it when a good, cheep Fiat X1/9 came up... First thing I thought was K-swap... that's a common swap now... but thinking back to a recap a few weeks ago... I think I'll go the L15B7 turbo, keeping it a 1.5 like the fiats original engine. The L15B7 will have pliantly of power to push a 900 kg car
Your spot on about the raffles bringing in way more money than the item is worth, but that’s the benefit of having a large following I guess. I’ve had ppl tell me I should raffle of engine blocks but I don’t think I could place the buy in low enough with enough spots to bring in the 1500 (on average) that the majority of my engine blocks go for. These rafflers also remind me of guys that buy incomplete project cars to strip and sell them as parts. I know I can (justifiably) be called a hater for this but I fucking hate those kinda guys. It takes 0 skill or much effort to do and all you have to do is hit ONE lick to get the ball rolling as long as you have the place to store the parts. This winds up leading to a bit of a monopoly where a small group of people buy up all the commonly sought after parts then drive up the prices. So to sum up my rambling statement: raffle if ya want to, but just be real about what your doing. It SHOULD be the total of what the item is actually worth. If not my insignificant ass will be hating on your large ig following and non fan followers from the corner 👀😒😅
i think that’s a good point on raffles, to sell shirts/stickers for spots instead of just spots. i followed a guy last year who was raffling off 2 trucks and he was arrested and lost all of the raffle money + the trucks. i don’t see anything wrong with it, we CHOOSE to give these people our money, but you have to be smart with it
To answer your question, I think raffles are a great way to make a quick buck, but what would happen if someone that sent you money decided to go to PayPal and request their money back cause they got sour. This action happening here and there wouldn't be too bad for the person doing the raffles, but who's to say if everyone decided to do it. Now the raffles, when you purchase items and get entries, seems pretty legit because you at least get something out of it, again an excellent way to make money and move product, and if you charge a bit more to offset the cost, I don't think it's a bad idea.
With the Raffles agreed. I have started a t shirt collection from TunerCult lol. But like you said at least you get a t shirt and 25 or more entries. The others seem sketch.

Raffles are lame i watch a big player in the game literally raffle hondas every week. I told my brother if i did a wrap and cleaned up my harness and engine bay we could do a raffle and make like 15xtimes what i have in my h swap civic. Which i would never do, it was all satire but we both realized like wait your right if we do $50 a spot even to 10 people thats 5x times what i paid for my civic.

Raffles are wack, and the people who control them are always about the "hustle". like you said, the item 9 times out of 10 is being sold for more than its worth. Raffles literally started because people couldn't get what they wanted for their cars, more importantly what they are actually worth. Hustle all you want out of the people in the car community, there is too many people willing to gamble.

Its not a raffle unless there is a way to enter for free. If there is no free entry and its only pay to play then its no longer a raffle its now a lottery , and those are illegal or have to be managed by the state gambling/gaming board.
