Damn, your videos are so incredibly helpful. I'm returning to Logic after switching to Ableton for the last 5 years, and your videos are making the transition back so much easier. Thank you sir!
Logic used to scan about 50 Waves plugins EVERY SINGLE TIME!!!! It finally sorted itself when Waves upgraded plugins to V12 (my plugins were apparently in different versions). Now Logic only scans the same 7 plugins. I know the first one is Analog Lab 2 (which I thought I'd removed???) I have no idea what the other 6 are but at least it doesn't take too long to launch. I love LPX but there is always something that is a bit annoying it seems.
I’ve thought to myself a million times how much I wish I didn’t have to dig through the AU folder to find what I needed. Welp, I feel like an idiot now...
Useful video, thank you, Mr. ProRules You're right to point out the UA behaviour with plugins, it's a real pain in the ...ss, you have to uncheck all those you don't have a licence for, it's a waist of time and disk space. ☹️. If UA guys read this: I like your products, hard & soft, I use them but please, change this. Often, for invisible plugins, you don't have to restart the Mac, leaving your user session and come back is enough. I Usualy do that before considering any restart and it works 80% of times.
Hey, thanks for this! I had a app that wouldn't appear even tho it said it was installed & activated, but wouldn't show in the efx. I ran that repair option in Waves Central and it fixed it! I didn't even know about that repair option!
Hi - Great video, thanks. Did you transfer to M1/Big Sur - and could you maybe make a video on how to - and if you need to validate anything to get you plugins to work on a new mac? and did you just made a Time Machine update? Would be helpful to hear as many will transfer with the new Macs.
Hi Chris!! Thanks so much for your work. I am so grateful for the way you explain things so clearly! Very well put together 🤘🏼😊 So happy my plug-ins are organized now!
Hello brother... Thank you for your content... I'm trying to do that in logic but I can't see the folders... Just de Manufactures... There's something to do to fix it? Thank you!
my plug ins won’t show up!! what’s annoying is that everything is in the right area- the plug ins show up in garageband, and they show up in the plug ins manager as validated- but they won’t show up in the audio units in the audio effects slot.
Hey Chris. So if the there’s a plugin folder in Library and a Components folder exists, why not have plugins there? You mentioned they should not be there, but didn’t explain why. Some vendors are still having plugins in that folder, or at least instruct users to move them there. Thanks.
Is there a Logic Pro system like this for INSTRUMENT plugins. I have a huge collection of instrument plugins and I can't keep track anymore of all the cool plugins. I wish logic had a way to embed videos into the NOTES section so I could see a video from RUclips on what each plugin does. But no such feature exists (other than letting you embed a LINK). I just can't keep track anymore and I can't find a plugin that will organize ALL my other plugins into a REFERENCE GUIDE. What do you suggest?
Great tutorial! im making a favorites map with sub categories. but i cant get the 3rd one to work. i only have managed to make 2 sub categories in one plugin folder. is there some sort of limit to this? EDIT: nvm, im an idiot. I was looking at the effects pannel and didnt find instruments obviously. lol Thanks for the great tutorial
@whylogicprorules I enjoyed your video, but I want to clear out some Manufacturers from my list. I don't use Antares, LFO or Spitfire anymore for anything, but they're still on my list. How to delete these annoying line items? thank you in advance.
Unrelated question..... Is EnVerb a Logic's hack to easy reverse reverb effect? Try to look for tutorials but couldn't find any. So I thought I'll ask you Chris, the Ultimate LPX Guru.
How do I hide Logic's stock folders, so that they only appear under the developer section on both the Instrument and Audio FX drop-down menus? I prefer having only my plugins featured and then Logic's when I am in need of them.
I'M LITERALLY LOSING MY MIND that logic will not allow me to delete old plugin's I already deleted from my computer from the plugin manager. Literally will not change in the manager no matte how many times I reset, rescan, return to the default settings and delete.
This is a very informative video great stuff! I have a question: Is there a way to transfer your plug-in manager information from one Mac to another, in the same way that you would a vet in components or a drum kit? I've have a new iMac and don't want to go through the process of duplicating what I already have on another Mac. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? Thanks.
bit of a mess.. how hard would it be to have different colour writing for unvalidated plugs..? also if you are teaching people how too stuff.. like how to place a folder in a folder.. can follow what you do but zero explanation of what actually creates nested folders.. just the name? the colon?
Great. Thank you!! 🙏🏻🍀 Question: Is there a way to copy the folder structure of the plugin manager from one Mac to another, assuming both share the same plugins?
I have not tried this yet, but I read a post on LogicProHelop.com that said you have to copy this folder to the second Mac: /Users/*you*/Music/Audio Music Apps/Databases This folder appears to also hold the loops database, so that may affect your setup as well.
@@hammerpocket Thank you so much!! I didn't know that forum! I found the entry: www.logicprohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=154963&hilit=plugin+manager
Logic could add a search plug-in search like other DAW’s , such a game changer for loading plugins, no need for tiresome folder organising..seriously Logic is so far behind in development compared to others, when are we going to get some of these bits users have asked for years.
Yeah I see what you are saying. I do like folders in all honesty, I like being able to go straight to what I'm looking for without having to go through hundreds of wave plugins for instance. I try to keep my organisation very simple so "Dynamics, EQ, Verb", adding and subtracting as I need to.
Thank you for this. The only remaining annoyance is the « recent » section in my opinion. Is there a way to turn it off or put it at the bottom by any chance ?
Every day I see fantastic educational vids like this and wonder why anyone would take the time to give it a thumbs down. Seriously.
After searching for how to fix my plugin issue, I have finally come to the best video!!!
Damn, your videos are so incredibly helpful. I'm returning to Logic after switching to Ableton for the last 5 years, and your videos are making the transition back so much easier. Thank you sir!
another outstanding lesson. can't wait for my next one on one!
Thanks for saving me from spending at least a third of my precious remaining years scrolling through UAD plugins!
Been using Logic for years and never knew this was an option. Thanks
I know this a old video but it just came in handy to find a pluggin that crashed and disappeared 👻 got it back thanks 🙏
Oh awesome!!! Thanks Chris! I emailed you a short while ago with questions about this and here you are with the knowledge
As I have begun investing in plugins, this video is a gem of on time info! THANK YOU!
Precise, clear and easy to follow! Thank you!
You sir, are a lifesaver. Thank you SO much for this clear and detailed video. I can't tell you how much it's helped me.
Really, really looking forward to seeing the search feature. Apple is behind on this great feature comparing to other DAWs.
Well this will certainly saved me time searching for my third party plugins. Thanks!!
Really enjoyed that 👍

If anyone is not seeing their category folder, just drag down that slider on the left side where it says "top level"
First time that I already knew all the tips !!! I wish I knew them years before :(
thank uuuu!!!!!!! literally helped so much xx
4:10 good to know!
You can easily create a symbolic link for the plugin folder which will then stay on the external drive.
Thanks Chris
Thank you for your hyper valuable help I mean you’re a great explaining thanks 🙏🏻
Thank You.

Always things of value in your content! thnx
Thanks Chris! You’re the best! 👍👍👍
Thank you for posting this video ,it is very useful to me !
Clear explanation. Great content. Thanks!
Thank You very much! This video is great help for me!
Thanks!💙
Fantastic tutorial. Thank you.
Ah, fantastic news about sub-folders! It doesn't seem to be part of the official documentation but it works fine.
Awesome! Very helpful. Thank you very much. 🤘🏼
Thanks mate✌️👊

Hiding some... brilliant! :-)
Does anyone know how to “save”the plug-in manager selection as shown above????? Sometimes you have to reinstall logic
How does the work for Instruments? I can add and create folders, but native plugins show always on top of the list
Great tutorial! im making a favorites map with sub categories. but i cant get the 3rd one to work. i only have managed to make 2 sub categories in one plugin folder. is there some sort of limit to this?

How do you rename the folders under Audio Units?
just grab the little bar below "top level" and pull down.
Anyone know how to back up this created list ? Have to reinstall logic sometimes.
So if Logic doesn't use VSTs, can I remove all files from VST and VST3 folders?
So all that you need to do to uninstall something is delete the component?
Unrelated question..... Is EnVerb a Logic's hack to easy reverse reverb effect? Try to look for tutorials but couldn't find any. So I thought I'll ask you Chris, the Ultimate LPX Guru.

How do you remove The fx like Melodyne and midi fx from The instrument menu?
A+
Now , how can I save my plugins list and copy to my other Mac ?
video starts at 4:44
some of the WAVES cr@cks wont load and you need to re had them in logic to get them working
Logic used to host vst plugins when they were not owned by Apple, but by eMagic and had a version for PC.
Super useful, as usual. 3 thumbs up, if I had 3. LOL
bit of a mess.. how hard would it be to have different colour writing for unvalidated plugs..? also if you are teaching people how too stuff.. like how to place a folder in a folder.. can follow what you do but zero explanation of what actually creates nested folders.. just the name? the colon?
the native instruments dropdown folder menus are clear and concise and easy to manage... this is a freeforall
Great. Thank you!! 🙏🏻🍀

Can you imagine giving in to freakin Pro Tools because someone told you it’s the bottom line of professionalism and you took their word for it ?
i use both, logic for creativity/making ideas, pro tools for mastering/final mix, any pro will almost always say the same
Logic could add a search plug-in search like other DAW’s , such a game changer for loading plugins, no need for tiresome folder organising..seriously Logic is so far behind in development compared to others, when are we going to get some of these bits users have asked for years.
Two words: Speakerfood PlugSearch
@@banyarling it's ok, but still a hacky workaround that doesn't work well with large amounts of plugins
