There is nothing better than a warm kitchen fixing food for your family get together filled with love. I lost my wife in 2010 to cancer and she would have our home filled with wonderful smells of Christmas dinner and Christmas music, God bless all of you.

Paul reminds me of my uncle Robert. He was a gentle soul but had a great sense of humor. He played and sang also. He never tried to shine but let the Lord bless his music so his melodies were like a balm to a weary soul. Family is everything! God bless.

I find it interesting that you call it "shrimp scampi" and we here would call it "shrimp alfredo with vegetables " My experience with "shrimp scampi" is a dish made with garlic ,butter, and broiled shrimp .

I heard you dad talking about the oysters. I'm from a fishing town in northern Scotland and oysters on ice is something I remember from long ago. There's quite a lot of things you folks cook that's very similar to dishes here too. Same with your music, I can see the connections. I don't usually comment but I just want to say how much I enjoy watching you all.

Your baby bump reminds me of mine when it was Dec. Way way back. I was due March 31st but Surprise! April Fools day 1987.

My mother made the best homemade dressing. She made her own dried bread cubes by placing bread slices on clean sheets on the top of her guest beds and she did that several days early and just let them totally dry out .I went to the local grocery store the weekend before Thanksgiving and asked for any celery leaves and trimmings they might have. The last year I did this the produce guy asked me why I needed them and I told him I had a very picky mother that needed them for her dressing... He said 'come back tomorrow' and when I returned, he had a banana box full of exactly what I needed and more so. Her dressing was a wet kind of dressing and it was the best! She wet it with the broth made from the neck and other pieces found in the turkey ... Of course there were lots of onions and lots of sage, too. We usually had 4 of those glass bread-shaped pans full. I think one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving dinner is eating the leftovers the following day, especially that dressing.
Katie, I loved watching you make the dressing with your dad. I also like tasting the dressing as I make it... need to make sure the seasoning is right.

Ya'll have a wonderful family and are doing what my family did 70 years ago. It is super super great. When I was a kid 70 years ago we always went to mount harmony church along everyone from the community on Christmas eve for the service and there was a brown poke for everyone there and it usually had a apple and a orange and a few grapes and if we were lucky we got a piece of chocolate candy this happened in niota tennessee

Katie, while you were chopping the onions, you talked about how you had burning onion eyes. I was reminded of the time when I was a little girl, way back in the '70s, my mama and daddy had a string of red chilli peppers hung up drying. I don't know what I was thinking since I was very, very young - maybe six or seven perhaps, but I got a hold of them peppers and crushed them up with my bare hands and fingers. I then proceeded to Rub My Eyes with my fists, and I was suddenly in a whole world of hurt! Oh my gosh I cried so much. It literally felt like my eyes were on fire. I was one miserable little girl that day.
Your jewelry designs are very unique and pretty, so much so that I wish I was in a financial situation that would allow me to order some jewelry items from you. Perhaps someday I will be able to. I am in love with your cat Binks. He's so handsome! I have three cats, all girls, and I love them very much.
Your new Christmas Eve tradition was nice to watch. I have a confession to make. . .I haven't been watching the channels as much lately as I was and I'm ashamed of myself for the reason behind that. I have found myself envying and coveting the lifestyle you and your family are able to lead and I don't want to feel that way since I know it's wrong. I want so much to be able to support myself with a home-based business so I can quit the stressful rat race of "working for the man", but just can't see my way clear as to how I can accomplish that goal/dream. I don't have musical talent, or jewelry making skills. I thought about making and selling homemade soap like Corie does so maybe that could be something.
I'm gonna start watching the channels again because I need some uplifting, wholesome, calm and fun videos to take my mind off the worries of the world.
By the way...I want you to know that once you have your baby, you're going to feel like you're never gonna get any sleep. . .ever again. I promise you that that will eventually pass and you'll be able to sleep again. Been there, done that two times with my two (now grown) sons. 😅😊

Your Dad seems to know his way around the kitchen. Boiled eggs in the dressing is what we call Yankee dressing. Have you always made it that way? If time permits, please post the recipe. 😁 I started using fresh sage some time back & it is a game changer! You might want to try it. I’m sure you all grow it in your garden.

I’ve never heard of eggs in the dressing. To me the cornbread dressing is the best part of the meal. TeresaSue
@@BlessingsfromNorthIdaho I have never put boiled eggs in dressing. Not raw egg either. We don't make cornbread dressing here. Ours is just bread and the other stuff. No sage for me either. But we all have different tastes. Merry Christmas!!
You could use the chopper for the bread too and get some of that onion juice off those blades.

I like those circles with beads inside. My shrimp scampi is just shrimp, butter, lots of fresh chopped garlic and angel hair pasta. Years back got it at a "fancy" Italian restaurant that way.

Merry Christmas!! That is so true regarding the deer meat.... My brother in law who has since passed away knew how to dress and cook it properly... There is definitely a knack to cooking deer meat correctly. I rarely can get deer meat now but I did have a piece gifted to me and I made it last year after watching one of Matt's videos and it was delicious.
