  • Video showing Volvo S60/V70 2001-2007 Spark Plug/Ignition Coil Replacement, this is largely the same procedure for a timing belt inspection. As explained in the video, this is the same procedure for many P2 Volvo models including base/T5/XC and R models. -In fact this procedure is very similar to the P1 models/850 series as well. The tools needed are a regular spark plug socket, a T40 torx bit and a 10mm socket. The tools are reviewed near the end of the video.

    Good job. Very informative. Some of the other videos that show how to do this don't zoom enough on the work area. Yours is perfect to see what has to be done.

    I have a T5 from 2004 and I love it. I had the D5 diesel before that.
    Great cars. You failed to mention what spark plug you used! I noticed 3 prongs on the old Volvo Plugs, and on the new ones, I haven’t seen these before only the single prong type. I was going to check my plugs and replace if necessary and the shop were giving me single print types.

    Thanks for sharing... You forgot to mention the magnet for pulling up the spark plugs (if that's what it was) and I bought that exact same obd reader at Walmart for 20 bucks plus tax. Thanks again...

    • @over1g
      @over1g  5 лет назад

      Quite welcome. Yes I used a little magnet to pull the plugs! A decent spark plug socket should have a way to keep the plugs in when removing or installing though. :)

    Hello , I have a 2007 V70 turbo showing I have to replace plugs , coils and o2 sensor upstream , I'm having a problem with parts , I believe the engine was replaced at some point before I bought it , could you place tell me where the Vin number would be on the engine ,as I'm trying to make sure that the vehicle and engine Vin are the same . Also what spark plugs and coils would you recommend , any help would be much appreciated as I'm a novice on a budget , thank you .

    What model Denso sparks do you buy ?

  • @philbrooksjazz
    @philbrooksjazz 4 года назад +3

    Nice , but no mention of the tool / socket used to remove the spark plugs. Also, on my 05 XC70, the size of the bolt that holds the coils in is 8mm not 10mm. Also the size of the T driver is 30 not 40.

    To test a coil with this type of car, just swap the number one coil with the number 3 or 5 coil and rescan it.. then if you have a misfire follow the coil you swapped., plugs are always a good thing to change out while you have those covers off..

    I have a big pipe running across the top of the engine, do I need to remove this first?

    • @over1g
      @over1g  3 года назад +1

      I think most likely you are referring to turbocharger piping. If you can get the spark plug/ignition coils (and covers) without removing it, try that first.

      You really can get one like it almost anywhere. Autozone type places (if you're in the U.S.) have generic OBD II scanners for less than $35 nowadays. I believe mine was from Amazon.com

    • @over1g
      @over1g  3 года назад

      Some manufacturers have gone back and forth on wether anti-seize should be used. I typically no longer use anti-seize, though I have to replace the plugs with some regularity on most the cars I work on nowadays. Turbo applications tend to be hard on the plugs for example.
