Usually playing Napoleonic Wars, the music is just kinda there. It speeds up reload time for the line troops, but it’s kind of annoying by itself. However, me and a drummer synced this up while a street we were holding was being overrun. Sappers had set up barricades, but there were more and more enemies coming in. To clear some things up... This was an Irish dance tune that was adopted by the British who turned it into a military march and then the Americans ( who were British until they became independent ) made it one of their marches.

One of best Portugese and British theme song when fighting the Zombies
i swear these musics are better nowadays sometimes
Would anyone else march to this song until their feet bled?
Damn Ireland gave us some fine fife and drum music for that war.
This song was english, not Irish. That said, yes they did.
@@jeremy1392
Pretty sure by this song's lyrics that it's Irish.
@@sirknight4981 The song was first printed in Dublin, but its lyrics and tune, as well as reference to it, are traceable to the English Elizabethan period.
@@jeremy1392 But it had Irish roots right?
@@SimranIsgay Who knows? With a lot of the songs of the period, they existed for decades or centuries prior to the first recording, so they may have originated anywhere.
Ah, a video from the golden age of RUclips.
Stonewall Jackson’s troops sung this song as they crossed from Maryland into Virginia on September 11, 1862 during the Maryland Campaign and the operation to capture Harpers Ferry
dont mind me just saying the the whole lyric
I'm lonesome since I crossed the hill and o'er the moorland valley.
Such heavy thoughts my heart do fill, since parting with my sally.
I seek for one as fair and gay, but find none to remind me.
How sweet the hours I passed away with the girl I left behind me.
O ne'er shall I forget the night, the stars were bright above me
And gently lent their silv'ry light when first she vowed to love me
But now I'm bound to Brighton camp kind heaven then pray guide me
And send me safely back again, to the girl I left behind me
Her golden hair in ringlets fair, her eyes like diamonds shining
Her slender waist, her heavenly face, that leaves my heart still pining
Ye gods above oh hear my prayer to my beauteous fair to find me
And send me safely back again, to the girl I left behind me
The bee shall honey taste no more, the dove become a ranger
The falling waters cease to roar, ere I shall seek to change her
The vows we made to heav'n above shall ever cheer and bind me
In constancy to her I love, the girl I left behind me.
My favorite part of Skyworld's theme
We gonna win the battle of farmlands with this epic beat

Heard this in Jerky turkey when I was in preschool now for some reason I think it’s the default song they roll with in any parody of fife and drum scenes in cartoons. At 1.5x speed is how fast they play this in the cartoon

Custer's band played this heading out for the Little Bighorn expedition.
Kinda depressing if you think about it all those young men will never return to the girl they left behind them because of a egotistical glory hungry fool
