It's amazing how different and creative Rachel's decks always are, and they still are a menace nonetheless! She truly is an institution in deckbuilding😊
@46:20 Vanquisher's Banner will only trigger once because the island was already in play and therefore wont get the ability to choose a creature type. The copy is an artifact that does nothing essentially. Ashlen should only have drawn one card. Ruling as listed from The Myriad Pools: "Because the target permanent isn't entering the battlefield when it becomes a copy of a permanent spell, any "When [this permanent] enters the battlefield" or "[This permanent] enters the battlefield with" abilities of the copied spell won't apply for the target permanent."
i was surprised to see how crazy the board was by turn 2-3. multiple draw engines, rachel is casting spells for free, beezy is chillin with his hands in his pockets
@@sunflowertheogTheir house mulligan rule is basically to do it until you have card draw you can play in the first few turns. You see it most of their games.
First episode of Extra Turn that I've seen and I had no idea how impressive the editing was. It was a really great match to watch but that editing *really* helps to follow it!
it’s such a joy to watch Rachel play. as a person, she’s so down to earth, funny, chill. as a player she’s so smart, calculated, efficient. do more episodes with rachel weeks pleaseeee😭
ASHLEN on Pirates is why I made my first EDH Admiral Beckett Brass! I remember taking it to Magic fest in 2019 and being like the only pirate guy there!
My sister bought that Tom Cochrane album on cassette back in the day, and she listened to it until she hated it (it took a LONG time)! I think she used a Bic pen to rewind the tape. We were deeply weird, but my whole family had a lowkey obsession with music. Great guests, and I like the idea of having regular homebrew games, maybe make that it's own thing so it doesn't encroach on Extra Turns? Not that I mind it here, I just think it's got enough legs of it's own, and it might as well got for a walk.
I haven't seen this episode yet, but I had to stop and make this comment. Tocasia was my first commander. I built her from scratch, and slowly turned her into a powerhouse the more I learned what I was doing. I've -never- seen anyone else play her...and it made me so happy to see her. She's my favourite commander.
It's not a saga though. Song of the Dryads makes it only into a Land - Forest. Since it's no longer an enchantment, it loses the Saga subtype. Blood Moon/Urza's Saga is different, because while Blood Moon makes Urza's Saga into a Mountain, the land is still an enchantment, and it still has its enchantment subtypes (changing land subtypes won't affect its enchantment subtypes).
Damn I was hoping for Mia and really did want to see a card like that win but rule of thumb in MTG for myself anyway is never underestimate a Rat deck especially if it be from a black deck 😂
Spoilers 🛡️ I thought it was a good call that Rachel took Beezy out first. Even without the combat power, he had the scariest potential to take over the game. Mia had a scary start but her janky wincon probably made her set up look scarier than what it was setting up towards. Good game!
Once you go over a saga's maximum lore counters (as dictated by their highest chapter number) they go. But this only applies to sagas. I don't think it would work as the Saga became a land and therefore lore counters didn't affect it
Am I mistaken but shouldn’t the saga “One Ring to Rule Them All” supposed to be destroyed when it became a forest from the enchantment? I know that “Urza’s Saga” is destroyed when a “Spreading Seas” is enchanted on it.
The key difference is that Spreading Seas makes Urza's Saga lose its chapter abilities, but it's still a Saga (and thus one that has lore counters equal to or greater than its highest chapter, which becomes 0.) Song of the Dryads removes all _card_ types, so One Ring is no longer a Saga at all.
There's a slight difference in wording that is huge (because of the rules behind those words). I'm noting the relevant rules from the Comprehensive Rules in brackets if you want to look them up. Song of the Dryads says "Enchanted permanent is a colorless Forest land". Spreading Seas says "Enchanted land is an Island". The big difference in question here is the word "land" (after "is" - there's no difference between "enchanted permanent" and "enchanted land"). That means that the permanent becomes a land, and thus it loses all other types [205.1a], such as creature or enchantment, because it doesn't say "in addition to its other types" [205.1b]. So the Saga is _just_ a land, and since it loses its enchantment type, it loses all subtypes associated to it [205.1a again], in this case Saga. On the other hand, Spreading Seas only turns the land into an Island. This is granting it a basic land type, which makes it lose all land subtypes and all abilities [305.7]. However, this doesn't remove any other types or nonland subtypes, so the permanent is still an enchantment and a Saga. There's a state-based action that causes Sagas to be sacrificed when the number of lore counters they have is greater than or equal to their final chapter number [714.4, 704.5s], as long as there isn't a chapter ability for that Saga still on the stack (or about to be put on the stack). But the final chapter number for the Saga is determined by its chapter abilities [714.2d], and, since the Saga has lost all abilities, its final chapter number is zero. As the Saga-turned-Island will always have zero or more lore counters (because this is true of all objects in the game), it is sacrificed for this reason - note that it's key to this rule that the permanent is still a Saga.
So does that mean if someone were to flash out Spreading Seas on a creature land after it's been activated, it would be a Basic Land - Island Elemental until end of turn, in which case it would return to just being a Basic Land - Island?
Spreading Seas only affects the land type in regards to types/subtypes. Song of the dryads enchants a permanent so in rules it removes all types and subtypes. Urza's saga dies cause it is still a saga under spreading seas but would not be a saga under song
Can you have an episode where you play a game with the recently banned cards in order to show people that it is ok to keep playing with them so long as your playgroup agrees?
Ashlen’s turn 1 pissed me off. WHY WAIT TO DO IT?!?! THERES LITERALLY NO REASON TO WAIT, ITS THE FIRST TURN OF THE GAME Stuff like this just pisses me off because it drags the game on for longer than it needs to be. While 1 land may not be much, when it happens every single turn, there’s 5 minutes of the game wasted because you’re spending the end of someone’s turn searching for something. Just sac it & pass to the next person while you search, it’s turn 1, it enters tapped. You cannot do anything else
Doesn't the saga become sacrificed once it becomes a land? I can't remember if this works exactly the same way but I know that when Urza's sage becomes a different type of land it loses all of its counters and immediately gets sacked.

Game aside, I really don't get Card Kingdom. Their prices are super inflated compared to what you can get at TCGplayer.
I dont get why anyone buys cards lol when proxying extremely high quality cards exist.

I wonder how much she would be paying if she actually listened to this comment every video lmfao probably several millions
I love to see a Regeneration effect have an impact in the game!
Thank you nitpicking nerds for keeping me company on my morning drive to work
Finally someone did one of my favorite decks Ramos😁
This was a really fun, interesting game with good-hearted nerds. Loved it!
27:11 "Raaacheel!" *canned laughter*
I also had a Ramos + Door to Nothingness deck. Had multiple ways to copy the activated trigger to try and win all at once.
Disappointed that we didn't see either of the Nerds' secret commanders really.
Ashlen is by far my favorite player
Rachel ate. When she pulled that Ashiok, and if it would have stayed enough time in the battlefield, it would have easily taken one player out.
Always a good episode when Ashlen or the nerds are on, but both?!? Hot damn! Can't wait to see how it plays out
Mia was MIA all game! What happened?!
Looks like a jank deck. She drew tons of cards in the early game, had nothing to show for it. Ramos is an insane card, did nothing here.
Door to nothingness? More like deck to nothing
@@skykur Bad match-up, for sure. Mia and Beezy were both playing bad jank decks.

kinda sad that we didnt get to see the door in action, but it was a great game anyways! :)
Great cast ! Great decks !
Loved that game. Super awesome!
That protection racket is pretty good 🔥
I’m always so conflicted with protection racket! (That is wether to run it or not)
i though it you enchant a sage, it complete all the sage and gets destroyed. So it no longer a forest.
It's not a saga though. Song of the Dryads makes it only into a Land - Forest. Since it's no longer an enchantment, it loses the Saga subtype.

I LOVE the Earl of Squirrel shirt!
Mia begging for Rachel to deal with the Gift of Immortality when she has an answer in her own hand
They are amongst the best guests
Love those unique Decks (: I hope I can see Mia door someone on a future gameplay or beezy getting unkillable with his angel :D
Admiral Brass represent! One of my favorites, shes so much fun.
This was such a fun episode to watch! Hope y'all liked the pirate deck >:)

Ahhh I wish I could play it too
It's good to see Ashlen doing well, considering she definitely took a Grievous Wound in the newest set.

Shouldn't the one ring card have been destroyed as a state based action for having more counters than chapters when turned into a land?
It loses any any card types and subtypes it had. So it's no longer a saga.
