- In this tutorial I will show you how to crochet the Shells of One Color Blanket. I have attempted to make this tutorial more beginner friendly than my other two tutorials on this style blanket. (links below to those videos) The other BRAND NEW feature to this blanket is there is no joining seem that visibly goes diagonally across your work. It is hidden in the corner. I hope you enjoy creating this blanket please LIKE, COMMENT, SHARE and SUBSCRIBE!

Thank you for the detailed, clear instructions. You will be my permanent source for help! Beautiful work!!!
Feel like this would make an amazing table cloths... I think I’m going to try it
Yes!!!! Absolutely! Thank you for watching and commenting. Have fun making your beautiful table cloth.
You are an amazing teacher!! Your attention to detailed instructions is what makes it seem so easy. Thank you!! I will be trying this pattern as my next project!!
Hi Jonna, thanks for the tutorial, it’s a beautiful pattern: simple to crochet but really gorgeous. I started my blanket yesterday and it’s coming together really nicely, perfect relaxing repetitive crochet.
Beautiful pattern; excellent instructor. Thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
I've made 3 so far thanks much great pattern!
Thank you Jonna for the tutorial. It's easy to understand. Now i can make my own blanket using this pattern.
I can't tell you how happy I am to find this newer version!I love your beautiful shells blanket, but have only used variegated yarn for the v stitch round, then a solid yarn for the shell rows because I never liked the diagonal obvious seam that you spoke about and the variegated yarn somewhat camouflaged that. I am now halfway through a solid color one since seeing this and it is perfect! Thanks so much for sharing that hidden corner tip!
This is a lovely stitch. I’m trying to figure out how to turn this into a rectangle so I can make a prayer shawl

@@JonnaMartinezCrochet … Thank you so much ! My brain is so tired today, lol, that I just saved it to try to figure out how to convert it until later … just bought the pattern from your Etsy shop, and printing it out as I type. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much! Please let me know if you have any questions ❤️
I’m hooked on this pattern…ty so much u are a very good teacher🥰🥰🥰
You’re so kind! Thank you for watching. Be sure to check out my rectangular shells of one color blanket after you make this one. ❤️🥰
Jonna, as I'm watching this for the first time, I thought that these would make beautiful coasters after rounds 4 or 6 depending on the thickness of the yarn. This is a beautiful stitch. Thank you for sharing.
That’s an amazing idea! I know a crochet shop that makes dish cloths from this pattern too with cotton yarn. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hi jonna I was wondering can this stitch be made into smaller squares and put together as a blanket in lots of colours I was wondering how would you put them together, thanks jonna ,love this stitch ,made lots of blankets with it thanks to you xxx
Love the updated instructions without the vertical join line. It looks so much better now! Thank you!
I’m so happy you like the new pattern better! It makes a big difference 🥰 thank you for watching and commenting
Love this pattern..
I made i small change..
Instead of only putting 1 single between each shell, I put 2 (in the same stitch)
Then when it's time to put the V stitch in, you'd do it in your 2nd single stitch..
It makes it more even. When you only put 1, it ends up looking uneven. Like there's a space on one side but not the other. But putting 2, makes a small space on both sides vs just 1 side...
This is absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for the tutorial 😊
You did it again! Another great tutorial. I'll be trying this today! Thx Jonna🥰
Super! Thank you so much.
Let me know how it goes ❤️
Excellent tutorial ❤❤
Love this. I made your shell shawl. Now I will have to make this blanket. Thank you❤
Wonderful 💖 Thank you for watching and commenting!
Marlena D. and Martinez where can I find the shell shawl please.
@@elainef.rogers2148 there is no written pattern for the shawl but I followed her video. Here is the link.
ruclips.net/video/aywViQB6HfY/видео.html
there is a link in that description box to Ravelry to get a diagram for the shawl.
Lovely stitch pattern, thank you so much for your tutorial and sharing.
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thank You for sharing I appreciate it.
I tried myself first but I couldn’t make it because I didn’t know how to do the next round.
If you feel you need more help, message me with photos on my Facebook or Instagram.

Hi Jonna this is one of my favourite patterns I was wondering seeing could you make lots in smaller sizes and put them together as a blanket, but how would you put them together, thanks Jonna, xxx
I too would love to know how to join multiple blocks. Many thanks
This is GORGEOUS but looks rather difficult
It’s not as hard as it looks! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Thanks for sharing.... I will give this a try
Thanks I love this pattern🎉
This is A Beautiful Pattern
Right now I'm working on Your Beautiful Shells Pattern
I think Your a Wonderful Teacher and Appreciate Your Video's
I was Wondering if You''ll be Videoing the 3 Different Pink Colors that are in This Photo
Thank You
Kim
I’m so happy you are liked this tutorial.
The three colors is me changing colors every two rows, like I explain you can do at the end of this tutorial. I’m hoping to track down the exact colors of that piece you see in the corner of the tutorial ( I made that with some old yarn I had) and add that information in my blog post. You can watch for it at: www.jonnamartinez.com
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. ❤️❤️
Love your videos. Thank you so much and stay safe ☺
Hi jonna is this the same as the beautiful blanket you did some years ago I love it and have made lots of blankets ,thanks so much for doing it ,this is so gorgeous love it xxx
Similar! Yes! This one has the same stitch but I’ve figured out a new method of where and how to join. So no diagonal seam running if you only are using one color.
Also attempted to make it more beginner friendly.
And added a left handed video as well.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
I’m happy you liked my older tutorials!
As I love ❤ your pattern!
I made this for a good friend a couple of years ago. It turned out beautifully and she loved it! Thank you!
Wonderful!! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I love your pattern for this blanket. I am making an afghan with only 10-12 inch granny squares and would like to know if you could tell me how i can make a border around the square from this pattern?
The instructions are very clear and easy to understand , thanks very much ❤️
Great to hear! Thank you!
Is this can do 2 colours or 3 colours? Yr is beautiful I try my best to catch but little bit too fast
Yes you can, I would change colors every 2 rows though so it has the shells look. Keep the V st round and the shells round the same color. thank you for watching!
Absolutely love this pattern! Is there a way to change the stitch for a couple of rows (like grandma’s German shells blanket) and then go back to this again? I tried it myself but it didn’t look great. Am planning on making another cocoon shrug with it. Instead of a square on the back in a different colour I was thinking of doing the whole thing in the same colour but with a different textured square. Thank you! 🌼
I have been wanting to work up something with this stitch and the block stitch too! I think it would look gorgeous! I have to get a few things off my hook then I’ll look into this. Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️❤️
Hi Jonna!
I absolutely love watching your videos now that I found them.
I’m still working on my ombré blanket. But I have a question, when I was taught to crochet I was always told to turn my work. Do you ever turn it? I’m wondering if that is just a step that can be skipped.
This pattern is not turned. You could, but not necessary!
I never do with this pattern.
I’m really happy to hear you like my tutorials. Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️❤️❤️
Hi, is there a pattern for a round table? I really love the shell stitch trying to figure it out for a round table.
Hi Jonna! I love this pattern. Do you know how to do the chevron version?
Wonderful thanks for sharing!!
Thank you for watching and commenting!
this one where I would get into a pickle and end up with loads of corners instead of 4. . I will give it a go though as its very pretty.
Yes the corners can be hard to watch! But you can use stitch markers for reminders. Thank you for watching!
Thanku so much 😍😍😍
Mine is curling up even with 2 sizes over recommended and loose tension!! Help! No stitches missing or added wrong
Would this pattern look good in an Ombre yarn?
Yes 100%. Check out the rectangle blanket I made in this stitch: www.etsy.com/listing/869979056/
I just worked it right out of the skein.
Thank you for watching and commenting!
❤love it
Do you have a tutorial on how to crochet shell blanket using 2 colors ? I couldn't find a tutorial.
❤love it 🎉
Thank you!
This is so beautiful. Will this be a square shape as it grows? I’m hoping it’s more rectangular because I want to make this as a pillow sham (standard size bed pillow). If it is not, would you know how to tweak the pattern so it forms the rectangular shape? I’m between a beginner and an intermediate crocheter so I wouldn’t have a clue!
This will be a square the entire time. If you want a rectangle check out my shells of one color rectangle blanket.
Other starting sizes are available in my written pattern on Etsy or Ravelry.

@@JonnaMartinezCrochet thanks for replying. I did actually look at that but I was hoping to do it from the round instead of chains.
It is in the round. To get the shape of the base you need to chain first. Then you will work around the chain.
@@JonnaMartinezCrochet I’m sorry, I meant growing out from the middle. I’ve yet to complete my first project but have been practicing different patterns a lot. I’m drawn to the ones that grow out from the middle because I’m noticing the other things I’ve stitched are just so uneven to where the bottom is one width and as I go up it gets wider. I need to work on that since the majority of crochet is done that way! Thank you for your reply 😊
Okay my rectangle blanket does grow from the middle. You cannot get the length of the rectangle without chaining first.
Gorgeous! Can they be joined together for a blanket?
You can, or just keep repeating rounds 5 & 6 until the blanket is any size! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Is there a border for this blanket? Or can you recommend a border
I have a straight edge here: Beautiful Shells Blanket Straight Edge | Shells blanket edging | shells of one color border
ruclips.net/video/6ib6PD2Hrd0/видео.html
And also the written pattern comes with one: www.etsy.com/listing/763542376/
Thanks for watching!
Would this look okay with an ombré yarn or would the transitions look odd?
I’ve done to and I think it looks great! Thank you for watching and commenting!
How do you know when to use the little knot at the end.
Do you have written instructions to understand it easier? Please thank you
I do. They are available on Etsy or Ravelry.

Fantastic tutor goes super slow for us newbies- crochet is no longer a secret 🤫 😂

Beautyfull work. What kind of yarn is it
It’s just an acrylic yarn by Walmart. But very similar to red heart super saver. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Love it!

Beautiful 😁🇬🇧👌
Love this so much(#^.^#) I'd love to try make blanket. From Japan.
Wonderful! Thank you for watching and commenting.
Lovely 🌸
Thank you for watching and commenting! 💞
How is this different than a virus stitch blanket? Or is there a difference? Thank you
This is 2 repeating rows with a closed small shell and the virus stitch is 4 repeating rows with an open lacy look and larger shells. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Do you have a tutorial for the border part of the written pattern by chance?
I do not.
If you need assistance with the written pattern I’d be happy to help.
Please message me on Etsy or Facebook. JonnaMartinezCrochet
If you purchased the pattern on Ravelry please let me know when you message.
Thank you for watching!
P.s. I won’t be making a tutorial on the edging in my pattern. I usually like to add something extra to the patterns as an added bonus of the purchase. ❤️
I love your videos on the Virus stitch! Do you have a new one called the CoronaVirus stitch? Lol I’m sorry, but we have to laugh about these things!!
Haha! I’ve actually thought about that! But too soon for a pattern? Idk 😂
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Round 5 11:53
Round 6 14:34
How do you join other colours??
I join colors on the V stitch row. Thank you for watching!
How can I contact you on messenger? I can’t help but wonder if I’m using too big of a yarn and hook.
You can send me a message to my business Facebook page JonnaMartinezCrochet
I look forward to hearing from you.
You can definitely go down a hook size! No need to frog, just start using the new hook .
Thank you for watching and commenting.
-Do you happen to have the directions as well as the video?
Yes, You can find the pattern to this tutorial at my Etsy shop: www.etsy.com/listing/763542376/
Thank you for watching and commenting.
Where is the written pattern please?
Hello! The written pattern is available on my Etsy or Ravelry shops.

I could not get this pattern going because you went too fast.
Round 5: 11:40
14:31 14:32
It's pretty .. But you are very unclesr in how to work your stiches. Not trying to be ugly but not clear at all. So not using yours at all. Thsnk You though for trying.
Too fast for an absolute beginner. Sorry I could not keep up
That’s okay. You can pause and rewind. It’s beginner friendly so not all beginners. Thank you for trying!
L Hunt it’s okay still you can alternate the speed all you have to do is tap on the right hand corner that has three dots vertical then go to playback speed and it allow you to alternate the speed of the video. 👍👍👍
I hope that’ll help you.👍👍
SLOW DOWN!
Okay then 😳
The way you explain it us really completely complicated 😡
Excellent tutorial 💖
❤️ Thank you so much for watching and commenting.
