Agreed with the proportions of the Perry sculps, the poses also look so natural to me, I most add that Piano Wargames makes some nice sculpts as well and they scale nicely with the Perry's.
@@JackSargePainting All Facts 😄 I saw one of ur videos with them, Württemberg I believe (officer on horse). Beautiful sculpts are always a joy to paint, including the newer Victrix ancients as well.
Bit late to this as just back from holiday. Think you deserve a medal for assembling & completing that whole box! They look awesome, which is what come to expect from your work. Sorry to hear times are tough Jon. Your work brings great enjoyment to many, is informative & a source of inspiration. Always why I’m keen to comment to show how much your work is appreciated. Hopefully work will pick up soon. Given the quality of your painting sure it will. If you were UK based you’d probably have too much!! All the best. Chris
@user-jt3bl5rr9l Thanks Chris, very kind of you. I've started on 6 voltiguers from the next Perry plastic box. I think you are probably right with your UK comment. Alas, we left there in 2002 and haven't been back. All the best, John.
i agree with you on the Perrys and metal vs plastic. Completely in line with my views. So hope you get some commissions soon - if only you were closer to me! Lovely unit there as usual
I'm surprised to hear that work's dried up? You're one of the best in the business, as far as I'm concerned. I'm with you about assembling plastics. My beef is it's rare that metals or plastics offer poses that suit my tastes. I like to pack figures on bases, to match the dramatic style of Don Troiani's paintings.
@@JackSargePainting Am I right in thinking that you're only on YT now and not Facebook? You'd blow away a lot of what's shown on there, that's for sure.
@@JackSargePainting I know what you're saying. I try to limit my FB access to just once or twice a day and only watch RUclips for something to llisten to, whilst I paint. You need an agent. Impressive work, looks great. You are teasing me with these British, might get me some one day. But for now Im way over my head with my Napoleonic Borodino project. Got so much to paint up until " game day. " Take care 😀

Can I ask what paint colours you could suggest to get that washed out, dusty brown colour on the trousers of this unit. (I have a good selection of Vallejo ) Thanks in advance@@JackSargePainting
@@rogerjclarke There are 3 different colours of trousers in the unit, actually 4 if you count the slightly whiter trousers on the command group. Plus they get a gentle dry brush of Tan Yellow on the lower part. The majority of off whites are done with Deck Tan and lightened with white or Ivory. The 2 brown colours are done with AK 3rd Gen Mud Brown & Vallejo Panzer Aces Splinter Blotches ii. I hope that helps.
@@JackSargePainting That's great, thanks, just the excuse I need to visit the local hobby shop's website. I'm absolutely sure things will pick up for you. I swore I'd never touch Napoleonics, but over the course of this rainy Irish summer, your work has inspired me to dip my toe into the era.
Stunning looking unit mate ,i do like the perry plastics ,im just painting up a box of victrix brits and its very slow going i cant get motivated by them they look good when finished but not on the same level as perry in my opinion
Truly great looking work! , I love the realism you go for. My questions are, how do you do the dry/dusty battlefield look? and what do you use for the sun faded red look?. If you're tired of doing the bigger kits my suggestion is it'll be great to see you do the Napoleonic character models the Perry's do or Victrix do great looking Napoleonic cavalry kits 12 models per kit. I missed the music from Sharpe at the end of this video. Love your videos, look after yourself too! Cheers!
Thanks mate, sound advice. For the reds check out my video from 4 weeks ago in which I include a run through of the paints I used to get that campaign red. The final touch is a very light drybrush of tan yellow to the elbows and sealing the figure with AK Interactive Ultra Matt varnish. The trousers from the knee down to boots also get a light drybrush of tan yellow. I hope that helps?

Yes, I have featured Piano Wargames miniatures in a number of my videos - they are a good fit with Perry. 🙂👍

Perrys sculpting style also just has some soul that the Wargames Atlantic or other companies seem to lack, its hard to describe
In a class of their own 🙂
They look great Maybe have a look at warlord black powder 28mm minimal build n clean up good sculpting and different heads
Thanks Chris. I'll probably buy metal miniatures next time, but until then I'll keep working my way through the Perry sets I have here. 🙂👍
Some of th sets come as a mixture of metal and hard plastic and here in th UK retail around the £24 mark
