Mr Ty I have a crazy idea, maybe a way to cool down a compressor to get the thermal overload to reset is by recovering the refrigerant out of the system, the pressure will drop and temperature inside the pipes will come down, then we can recharge the unit the liquid refrigerant and let metering device drop the pressure on the low side cooling down the windings on the compressor. Thanks a lot, have a nice day.

I like that you're thinking about it. I don't know that I'm willing to risk contamination and all the additional work for an unknown time save.

Thank you Mr.Ty, Is possible to replace reciprocating com with scroll com with the same capacity?🎋Thanks.

      Great question!
      Yes!
Big issues is hight space and piping.
Definitely size by BTU not HP

Hi, I have a york residential ac about 3 years old. Was working fine until now. The static pressure equalizes about 150psi. On a call for cooling the low side goes into a vacuum and drops to about 10psi while the high side goes up to about 200psi. The low pressure sensor trips and compressor stops for a few second. The unit then equalizes about 150psi again. BUT, when it starts again this time compressor really loud noise and low and high pressure barely moved. I do see oil around the brazing point at suction service valves. Can this be low charge or bad compressor? Compressor windings checked ok. Thank you for your help.

In air conditioning, the low side should never go into a vacuum.
Sounds like it's severely low on refrigerant or there is a large restriction.
Oil is a good sign of a leak.

Sorry what I meant was the low side pressure just drops from 150psi to about 10psi and then resets itself. It never reach the negative vacuum.
