On your suggestion to wash the mops to make them fluffy, I do that and have for a while but I also reverse the pads between washings. I remove the pad with mop and install on the opposite side. This makes the robot spin it against the grain of the nap placing more downforce on the floor for a while.
Oh wow, I never thought of that. Lol, that’s really sciency. Well, my just broke again. This time the right drive wheel motor seized up. So, now the robot spins in circles. They sent another RMA and it’s going back …again.
Hey man, thanks for your video. Could you please explain which was the first failure you were having? I bought mine 2 months ago and I got the impression that the mopping pads are not wet enough for an efficient cleaning: even with the max water usage it only leaves a ligth trail, while with low usage there's almost no wetting of the floor; that doesn't feel right, but it's my first robot, so I'm not sure what good looks like.
Andrea, 1. So the first failure I had was with the pads. What happens is the Nap of the pads gets bent over or compacted after repeated use and can no longer touch the floor. When this happens I switch them out with the backup ones, put them in the washing machine with my clothes, and let them fluff back up in the dryer. 2. Second issue I had was the water pump inside the base station died. It was no longer filling the robot…at all. Bone dry. Had to ship it back and they replaced the pump and motherboard. 3. Most recent issue is the drive wheel. It’s still in the shop. The right wheel seized up and it was driving in circles. My guess is the bearing went bad as the wheel was much tighter to rotate the the other side. Nothing was wrapped around it either. Hope this helps!!! Fluff your pads!!
So I just got the Deebot Xi Omni LAST NIGHT! We had it map and then vacuum/mop before we realized we didn't add cleaning solution. We also plan on using "Yiko" twice a day - starting this morning WITH soap! Do you only use the cleaning solution they offer? For laminate, tile and carpet - same solution? My mom asked me the best question about it - she asked, "does your back hurt?" I asked what she meant - she said, "you know, from all that mopping!"
@@c0ld5teel there is a solution that the manufacturer sells, for this machine, in one liter bottles. Ecovacs Deebot Cleaning Solution, a Deebot Accessory. I'm using it now - it has a light almost fruity scent (Wild Bluebell scent) and the bottle says to add 2 capfuls to a full container of clean water. This is what's on the label - "The formula is meticulously tested by Ecovacs for safe and effective stain and dirt removal on a wide range of hard floors, including wood, laminate, vinyl, linoleum, stone, porcelain and tile. Infused with fresh floral notes to leave a light, refreshing scent."
@@c0ld5teel it works - our tile and laminate floors needed it - it worked better than with just water. It left the house with a light, clean scent - trite but truly descriptive. My husband said he smelled it when he walked into the bathroom and he liked it. I'll take the win! LOL
hello, great video thank you! I wanted to ask you, I do not receive notifications on my mobile about the status of ecovacs, before when I had irobot I received a notification when the robot finished cleaning or when it got stuck, with ecovacs it is not possible?
Yep! And they repaired it but did not extend the warranty as a courtesy. Instead they offered to sell me an extended warranty. I found that to be unsatisfactory.
No it’s not. Believe it or not it broke again!! The drive wheel seized up and it has to go back for repair as soon as they send the label. Too many malfunctions, too many repairs and not even a year old. Very sad. I would not recommend any buy this going forward.
@@c0ld5teel Yes, you do not seem to be happy with the X1, and I was wondering, given your experience and knowledge on this subject (floor cleaners like the X1), what you would try if you could have any machine.
I would buy it from Best Buy and get 5 years warranty Geek Squad LoL !! but it is expensive ,,,$500/5 year accidental damage warranty! I been watching other mop-vacuum robot,,,the DreameTech L10S Ultra has push down force onto the two circular mopping .....but it seems to be too new vs Ecovacs!
Your presumption that because the motherboard and pump were not replaced with something “better” means it will fail again is not correct. Minor design flaws that affect a small proportion of users, and manufacturing errors, are corrected **all the time** in products like these. If you’ve had the X1 Omni for this long, then you were an ‘early adopter’ and more likely to have received manufactured items with reliability issues, and it’s particularly in first several months of manufacturing that most such issues are resolved. So it’s quite possible (but obviously not guaranteed) you received a replacement motherboard &/or pump that’s had problems resolved in subsequent minor design updates and manufacturing runs.
Unfortunately, that is not the case. The manufacturer admitted that the parts they were replacing the broken ones with were exactly the same as the old ones. I specifically asked if design changes occurred and they said no, and that no changes were even in progress. This is not comforting since the machine has again broken. This time with a seized drive wheel.
I dont have the ultra with the mop cleaning ability. I seen countless reviews of the ultra dock and haven't heard about that. But the auto lift function of the mop is a god send for someone like me who has rooms with carpet and rooms with hard floor.
@@suecampbell4811 Hi if it’s on your list of possibilities, it does clean mopping pad and air dries at end of cleaning when used. I did buy the ADD on ($) warm air-dryer which has auto drying ability through the app.

Looooool that’s hilarious. I do not put soap in the machine. I only use water. I think if you add things other than water it can damage the pump.
