I was there at the front, when they opened with this I was just in awe. First time seeing Metallica, couldn't believe they were actually there in front of me! 🤘 and I got a pick from James :)
Made me jealous :(
Put that pick on ebay make some money mate
@@TTrustworthy tf is that comment, who sells this kind of gift???...
I was way back but sounds great!
Mesma coisa comigo em Porto Alegre, Brazil. 🥺
James has really found his ultimate 'live voice' in these shows lately, the fun he has singing like this is so obvious, and contagious, and it sounds just fucking amazing!
Agree, it's like he merged his old and new voices into this "professor hulk" type of thing with the best of both. He knows when he can and should use that 80's scream.
When he screamed whiplash at 3:45 just wow METALLICA IS ON FIRE!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
He's definitely looking and sounding healthy
maybe they're currently recording an album
@@duckfluff That would be badass if they are and he's using this voice!
That "here we go" on 3:17 was amazing
Can’t believe the young voice comes out once in a while it sounded amazing
🤯🤯
First thing that came to mind was damnn that such an early 80s scream from James
brooo that was actually sick
ONGGGGGG
Hands down the best Lars performance in 20+ years. On fire with the fills, and he added extra double bass!
Dude is working hard.
His playing lately has been the best and cleanest it has been in a very long time. Double bass sounds tight and consistent and his timing is infinitely better since they started touring again. Admittedly the bar is fairly low for him as people point out all too often, but it still brings me a lot of joy to see them all playing well, pushing through the niggles they get with age and having fun
Ryan Ford I always loved how people were shocked and offended when people said Lars sucks. Even James thinks Lars sucks as a technical drummer, hell he’s not even the best drummer in the band lmao.
@@Huddle_House56 is he the best drummer? Not by any stretch. Is he the best drummer for Metallica? Absolutely. And that's the reason we're still talking about them today.
Ryan Ford yes, he’s also managed the band very well. Another reason we still talk about them.
4:07 only shows how Metallica and its fans are truly one.
Was amazing
Probably the most badass performance in recent memory. From the intro, to the great solo, to James' fantastic voice and the brilliant excitement and participation of the crowd.
Absolutely my thoughts!
James sounded like a beast unleashed. Seriously excellent growls.
Absolutely right. Kirk is playing great in this tour.
Love that they opened with Whiplash. I can’t believe it’s been nearly 40 years since the first time I heard it!!
I saw them in Vegas in February and they opened with it as well. It was awesome!
Saw them at Rathskeller Boston 83
Same here. And to think the critics said they go nowhere lol. Long live the Met boys
It's still so fresh.
Damn they sounded great here ! Saw them on the Kill em All tour way back in Dallas Texas..
Just hearing the crowd roaring “WE’RE METALLICA” is just … Something else
couldnt agree more
At 4:07 that crowd response gave me chills
Same, I was there
That "here we go" at 3:18 was spot on to Kill Em All.
James sounds like he's having fun up there and it's awesome. Lars is sounding great on the drums. Kirk and Rob both look like they're enjoying themselves. This is what Metallica is all about, man.
when they said "but we'll never stop, we'll never quit, cause we are metallica" i realy felt that
My first Metallica concert after being a fan for all these years. Safe to say it was incredible from about the 5th row
Good chance we bumped into each other at some point
Welcome to the Metallica family Shawn.
I envy you 😭
3:02 Lars nailed that drum fill, the whole band killed the song! Crazy these guys are all 55+ and killing it like this
He killed it in this performance, good to see! None of them are 60 yet though :)
@@Graylegs got me there
@@RCE-gn6cq Didn't mean to get you! Glad you took it well, have an awesome weekend!
Sounds like he’s actually been practicing
HE DID IT HAHAHAHHA HOLY SHIT YESSSSSSSSSSS
I remember seeing an interview where Kirk Hammett mentions that the fastest time they played wiplash was in Seattle in 1989
No , San Diego 1992 was faster and Brutal than Seattle 89.
On some good vitamins
Nothing tops Seattle 88 for me the amount of times I've watched that concert
Toronto 1986 was pretty damn fast. They had some anger to get out after Cliff died.
Hammersmith fastest
Lars nails it man! He shines playing this song
His best performance of this, maybe even of any song, in a very long tme
YESSS, Lars fantastic drummer
Indeed... He was right there in the pocket!!
James sounded insane, full-out his old voice. Best performance I've heard from them in quite a time. This is Metallica!
HOLY HELL. ALL four of our boys are kicking major ass in this performance. Rob getting low, Kirk nailing the solos, James' voice is full of power and energy & Lars is putting in fills we haven't heard in YEARS!!🤘🤘
James’ live vocals haven’t been this good since like 2008 god damn he can still belt pushing 60, absolute best band of all time
In my opinion, James was great in 2008, and good in 2009, but every year starting from 2012, he was better than the last, with some exceptions. 2017-2019 was a new peak, and hes had to work his way back up since after rehab, but now is in peak form again.
@@Squall6575 don't know what about you, but I much prefer current voice than the 80's one
@@gansior4744 I personally wouldnt go that far, but there definitely are things he can do vocally currently that he couldnt in the 80s. 80s voice was better for metal
This was my very first Metallica concert! I was at the front row!
making me jealous ' :(
Pls come finland :)
metallica come
I was in the general section but I was as close as I could get. Greatest concert I’ve ever seen
Hope u enjoyed brother my first time I got my cherry popped was cal.state Dominguez hills in 1994 open green field I will never forget!.
I was there and HOLY SH*T were we loud! It felt like the crowd had energy, but to hear to from that perspective really puts it into focus.
at 1.25x speed, it sounds like the way they played it at Seattle in 1989!
It kinda does
Yeah! So much better! :D But have to understand they are on their 60's lol
I was there, it was the best moment of my life, Boston calling was great. Waiting 5 hours in one spot was worth it.
I did the exact same thing. Got there at 6, made my was as close to the stage as possible, waited for those glass animals dudes to finish then moved up even more, waited for weezer to finish then watched Metallica. Couldn’t feel my legs the next morning but 100000% worth it. Greatest show I’ve ever seen
2:02 that's awesome, Lars! 👍
HOLY CRAP what a performance! I think this might be the best whiplash-performance from the last couple of years! Perfection from start to finish
3:57 The fill Lars is doing during the final verse is just so full of energy, definitly one of the best fills he's done for this song
It remembers me to his fill during the final verse of blackened (the studio version).
Love that his improvisations are consistently better now and don't take anything from the song. Makes me happy to see him playing the best he has in a long time
@@ryanford5387 Lars' playing is a great example of how big a difference practice can make on a performance. His fills used to feel awkward and just crammed in, but now they fit the mood of the song, and even add to it.
@@rory7289 oh absolutely. So many songs used to be a mess of random, sloppy and ill-fitting fills when played live - he'd barely play the actual beat at times. Now while many are still fairly simple they are exactly what shines about his playing: they fit, they sound good, often have a Lars-ish quirk in them and really enhance the energy of the song.
@@ryanford5387 FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES ON THAT LARS DOESN'T NEED TO BE OUTLANDISH TO BE GOOD.
His more minimalistic style of drumming really complements James' primal style riffs.
That “again we will EXPLODE!” At the end! DAMMNNNN!! Everyone killed this performance, but James was on another level! Metallica forever!
Boston crowd is insane🔥
Fantastic show. It was my 25th time seeing Metallica. Thanks for the pick Kirk!
You got his pick?
@@bensakdinan6630 yes and I have at least 50 guitar picks from Metallica over the years. 2 sticks from Lars as well.
@@ericvitale4307 lucky bastard:))
Eric...
From the time I know u....
I wanted to say u that.....
That...
I...
HATE U
@@ericvitale4307your a legend! You practically have a Metallica time capsule!
This is a great song to show the example of how adaptable, talented and professional Hetfield is in terms of his vocals.
After all the decades of growth, aging and voice changes, this guy always finds a way to make it all work.
I don't think all singers fully accept their voice changes and they still try sing their old songs the same way, or they just never work on it and change.
James has been able to successfully sing his old songs live very effectively by making changes and adapting over the years.
Its amazing and here we have Whiplash in 2022. The new stuff and old still work incredibly well live. Nothing lazy and sloppy with James. All Metallica.
Great performance probably the best I've ever seen, cool Hetfield's old school scream, massive sound of crowd, respect Boston, MA
Metallica is 100% the best band in history in terms of longevity and how they have almost kept the same quality from their old days (and even improved imo)
yes.
True.
Согласен на 100%
also the most consistent band ever, they haven’t stopped since they started
@@clinical_caliber they'll never stop, they'll never quit
3:58 james sings, plays the guitar and also dances...
The part where they go “WHIPLASH!” and right into the solo will forever remain as one of my favorite parts to any Metallica song.
I'm actually really impressed with this performance. James hitting high notes, Lars adding fills, Kirk nailing solo. Sound like they're enjoying themselves. Horns up \m/>
Can’t wait for both the videos from
Their Boston concert! First time that I saw Metallica live, it was an unbelievable experience.
This seems like an amazing time to see them live, James sounds great, Kirky is shredding, Rob's full crab mode, and Lars is banging those drums right on time!
Love to see Lars get credit where it is due. This man has really tightened his shit up and is in peak form. He'll, the whole band is killing it! Long live The Four Horsemen!! 🤘
Dang, what a banger to open with. Chills.
This is the best live song Metallica has.
Period.
Hit the lights gotta at least be in the conversation
"One, two! One, two, two, two!" Always love this gag! 😁 Absolutely killer performance!!
4:08 WE ARE METALLICAAAAA🔥🔥
Still energic than people in tiktok.
They are tearing ass with these old school songs lately!
Way to go James, love you brother!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Did James seriously get that good with his vocals?! Fucking hell, those high screams were perfect! Reminds me of his old singing style.
0:51 “One, Two, One, Two, Two, Two
3:18 That's the 80's James Hetfield we love so much!!
Damn, James is such a beast. The best frontman in music history, for sure.
They’ve gotten sooo much better in the past 3 or 4 years live especially James voice!
Wow! His voice... They are in even better shape than in 2017-18.
We never stop we never quit cause you are metallica!!!!
Wow James is on fire 3:16 !!! 🤩 Amazing!!!
I know James sounded amazing at 'Here we go', but has anyone said anything about his scream at 3:45? Took my breath away with that one!
It’s so cool how he manages to get that high
@@ashleywootton9556absolutely! Vocal lessons over the last 30+ years and warmups together is magic in James’s case
When they Scream: 'We never stop we never quit cause we're metallica. '... ... That's intense! 🤘😈🤘
I've beat many bullies up throughout my life with this song playing in my head. Man the way they played it years and years later gave me goose bumps
Man that Boston crowd was fired up!
excellent song, very good that they even used it in metal lords
James voice is on another level holy crap, the best he has sounded in years !
my first metallica concert, had chills throughout my whole body untill we were about 3 songs in, absolutely best feeling in the world. thank you metallica❤️
Now THAT is what a crowd is supposed to sound like! Boston brining that sauce.
Ride the lightning I think we were louder not sure have to wait for the video lol
Metallica never Disappoints.... since the age of 12 on my first concert to now 41 they still kick ass live!!
Boston fans representing. Well done!
One Word: Perfect!!!
Love the tempo of their early days. I love the tempo they went with in their Seattle show, but the fact that they’re still performing these songs at their ages is impressive to me. Metallica 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
This show looks like it was particularly amazing. God I love Metallica. Can’t wait to see them in Madrid in July!
Remarkable how musically tight these guys have become over the years. An absolutely kick ass band that just keeps getting better and better.
Whiplash is such a rocker song, just so full of fun and excitement and easy goingness in it's composition, lyrics and sound
the heavy ass drum work, long and dulling 000 guitar riffs, with a handful of little licks and a kick ass old school thrash solo
I love how James brings out his younger voice a bit on these songs haha
I went there with a friend. For months I kept saying to him “I hope they play Whiplash. That’s the one song I want to hear that I know isn’t a staple.” They opened with it and I lost my shit. Best concert I’ve ever seen 🤟🏻🤟🏻
2:53 JAMES!
I can't wait. 🤘🤘🤘
Incredible !
James looks great. Dude is my hero.
Even though he has hard times himself. I know he will get through it. It makes him human. This man helped me through PTSD without him even knowing it.
Thank you for your music man.
Love and respect.
Лучшая группа всех времён и народов!!!
Дааа!!! Только такие комментарии они и заслуживают)
Awesome song !!!!
Still so damn good at what they do.. Plus they love their fans.. dropping live video at this quality all the way through their tours..
Espectacular, los cuatro se ven en buena forma y se nota
O Lars voltou a tocar como antes, tá insano demais!!🇧🇷🤟
Ele tá incrível mesmo, parece que voltou pros tempos de glória. Arrebentou no Morumbi. Tá demais!!!
love it!
1:45 damn james! Still got it in ya!
That crowd response at 1:53 was so awesome
The crowd is on fire! 🔥🔥🔥it’s amazing hearing them all go WHIPLASH!!
Can't wait till Pinkpop, only one week left!! I really really hope they open with Whiplash, it's just the greatest Thrash Metal song ever, it keeps young bangin' all the time
Yuck. Metallica & the name Pinkpop is like oil and water.
first time seeing metallica live, and drove down to boston from Montréal. That was insane will never forget it.
By far this song is a favorite of mine cause of it's fast pace and epic guitar solos
Classic Kill em All Album
In 1983, I heard this song blasting out of the bedroom of my friend's older brother. I begged him to let me copy it. He said, "Fine. But you have to copy it over that shitty Supertramp tape you guys are always playing." I loved Breakfast In America, but it was no contest. I played Whiplash for my guitar teacher and told him I wanted to learn to play like that. He said no, so I quit lessons and learned it by ear. He inadvertently taught me the power of ear training.
The energy is just insane I love them so much
YOU'LL NEVER STOP!!!!!... YOU'LL NEVER QUIT!!!!!... CAUSE YOU'RE METALLICA!!!!!...
Heck yeah!!! I really hope Metallica get back to doing the Meet & Greet packages. I’ve heard they’re working on yet another album so I am hoping that the tour for that album come with the option to do the Meet & Greet & watching the show from the side of the stage etc. I don’t care how much it costs, I’m in! Rock on!
Im in too!!!!!!!! Cant fucking wait brotha!!!!! 🤘🔥
@@Tepekegoat68 🤘🏼🤘🏼
If our technology comes to the point where time travel is possible, I’m traveling back to this time just to scream “WHIPLASH” at the top of my lungs 😂🤘
And I'm traveling back to have a front row seat, I made my buddy leave the venue cuse I got board, I know he didn't mind but I still feel bad about it. Also I'd wear different boots since the ones I wore where too big and my feet had massive blisters on them the next day and they fucking KILLED for about a week straight
The intro tape for whiplash is perfect for an opener
Wow. I wasn't expecting that!
They have for sure improved their live quality. Lars' drumming was on point. Glad they have recovered from those years of "live decadence"
"1,21,2,2,2!!!"
So happy I got to go see them here, first time ever seeing them and it was incredible
Fantastic !
Lars has always been a good drummer, actually a very good drummer. This is the best I have seen Metallica play in a very long time. I have been a fan since 86’ ( 6th grade ) lol….. I was suspend from school because I would not turn it down on the playground on radio day. I am still proud of it. My Master of Puppets tape was eaten by that boom box……
Same here bro... fan since Puppets release. Die hard ever since... 49 now and still lovin it always
Being suspended from school blasting Metallica!! That is legendary! I would tell that to my kids like it was proudest achievement!!
Metallica is my farovite band!
these dudes are crushing this tour. every video from this tour is great. Always been proud to be a Metallica fan but I've never been prouder. Keep it up!1 ROCK ON!!
Certified Icons!!!!!
Очень круто исполнено!И драйв - вокал Джеймса понемногу возвращается!👍👍👍🇷🇺
