@@leonevelakeActually it works perfectly. Big Boss "died" twice. It is a retcon but it doesn't erase what is being alluded to in this video. And within the continuity, regardless of MGSV being written after 4, it doesn't mean it didn't happen. It's canon.
The graphics to this day still look astoundingly good

I don't care what anyone says, this game is amazing. The amount of goofy freedom you had in this game at the time was amazing. Plus all the crazy details they shoved into this game.
To me, this one and sons of liberty are my GOATs. I love snake eater of course, but the degree of feels that those too gave me is impossible to describe

The story just didn't make Sense tho
MGS4 doesn't have enough gameplay opportunities. It's a beautiful bonsai tree that was overpruned. All those sandbox areas in the first 2 acts and you can stealth crawl through point A to B. No other objectives, no backtracking the other way, some more use out of them besides just replaying the whole game would have saved it.

when I red the title I thought this was gonna be the bit from the beginning of the game where Colonel says that this situation could spark something (a war) and Snake replies "if you're gonna spark something spark this!" and he sticks out his hand with the cigarette in it.
Colonel just looks disappointed and sandbags the joke, which prompts Snake to say the best possible comeback in this situation, which is "fine, I'll start my own fire."

That didn't happen during the beginning. The scene between them, was them greeting eachother, with Snake saying, " Colonel!" followed by, "Good to see you." Followed by Campbell saying, "I'm not a colonel anymore Snake." Followed up by Snake saying, the only place he thinks Campbell will dress up like that, is at his daughter's wedding. He asks Campbell what he has been doing these day's, which Campbell responds that he's been working in a organization in the UN Security Counsel. Then the conversation leads up to Campbell saying they found Liquid in the Middle East and that they need to stop him and asks Snake to track him down.
Don't recall that cigarette thing happening.

Been pretty long since I've last played it, that I entirely forgotten that 'one' briefing. 😂

It was so hard playing as an old and dying snake
it always got me emotional when he started to cough his guts out, other than really loving him as a character, I kept thinking about Otacon, imagine seeing the only people in this world that you can truly call a friend, dying right before your eyes and there's nothing you can do, it's just very depressing

The "snakes" were not meant to have normal lifespans. Hell look at solidus. Hes already grey and kinda old in sons of liberty and hes a clone too. So he was just going through what snake is in mgs just not as progressed.
I didn't get it at first, but that was clever to throw in there. MGS always had some of the best attention to detail in most of gaming history imo.

I've been gaming since 28 years, played hundreds of games and I can tell you that MGS4 is the best videogame in history along with MGS
I think the same.
I remember mgs4 getting a rating of 11/10 on game informer awhile back. It’s a beautiful game.
Snake: damn I thought that the Lighter and the spray can would kill the guy who beat the boss, the end and the Fury, the guy with the strongest flamethrower ever
I still remember failing to remember whatever Otacon asked me to remember and Snake being so disappointed in me and himself
Holy shit, I remember being a kid and going through the entire mission just to make sure Snake didn't look disappointed.
I was so mad when i did that wrong, i got all the numbers right but i mixed up the order of the last two
This is the first time that I Snake show anger in his face that looks…. very personal. Grudgeful even.
Other times his “anger” looks more like “You’re a threat to this world. I must stop you.”
But this time it looked like… he remembers a ghost, one that traumatized him.
Those eyes show personal hatred, and pain even..

I knew it for years. They low key implied it in MGS1 when Snake asked "Why don't you just let them have Big Boss's remains? Or is there some reason you can't do that? Something you haven't told me about?" And then NAOMI of all people cuts right in with some explanation that you just knew was a cover story but they never touched on this again...until MGS4.
Someone else in this thread suggested that the body in MGS4 isnt actually the remains of the original Big Boss either, so its still very possible that they actually couldn't have given the remains in MGS1
@@MrSaturnMusicIt's definitely not Big Boss' remains, it's Solidus'. The "biomort" is missing the wrong eye. Notice in the short, Naomi even stipulates that Big Boss'"cells" are alive. Since Solidus was the perfect clone of Big Boss, she's not lying.

and as seen at the end of MGS4, Big Boss is still alive. It seems very little of him actually survived, as I believe it's explained that he has gained a cyborg body.
Big Boss in MGS1 is Venom Snake, so they probably quickly found out it wasn't Big Boss. Arguably the Patriots probably knew from the beginning.

@gabryellyro2046 Ok.... did you not read my comment? I literally said we see that he's still alive at the end of MGS4. Yes, he dies to FOXDIE after mercy killing Zero, at Boss' grave, but that wasn't really relevant to my point. And yeah he's alive, but he's alive in the same sense that Raiden is alive- they were cyborgs by that point.
Snake had to be super shocked and pissed when he discovered Big Boss was alive after burning him alive in Zanzibar. WHOA

Push extend on your own caution:
The body you see in Europe is Solidus Snake. Why? It's the eye that gave it away. Big Boss got shot in the right eye, while Solidus has been shot on his left eye. It's hard to see it but not impossible to miss
My first playthrough i noticed this detail and was pissed because I thought it was an inconsistency, I didn't realize till the end that it was intentional
I remember the first time I saw that I was like, "That's not Big Boss, that's Solidus!"
The “big boss” face camo was also solidus snake due to it being the wrong eye.

@@rotschimmel there's still people today still finding hidden easter eggs from the first metal gear solid. One of them is if u don't find the key card that gets dropped in time the rats eat it. And grey fox opens. The cell door for you instead of otacon.

At the time I thought Snake actually _did_ kill himself, and his conversation with Big Boss after was actually taking place in his mind as his brain slowly shuts down.
(It's worth noting the way he had the gun in his mouth would've mostly gotten his spinal chord, so his brain would most likely be intact)
Big Boss said what we were all thinking: That evolving FoxDie concept was a load of crap.
The game was so self aware that it retconned itself in real-time. 😵💫

I'm yet to watch the cutscenes of this game. When I was a kid, I just wanted to play the game. When I get my new high-end PC in a month or two, I'm gonna emulate this game at 4K60fps and enjoy every second of it.

Naomi knew the truth. She talked to Big Boss, explaining David's foxdie situation to him. I think she did it at some point during Act during Act 3 or 4 in secret, because she didn't have David's foxdie information until Act 2.
What my doctor confirmed for me the other day reminds me of how snake was gonna be a walking foxdie timebomb. Scary shit lads. 2023 is gonna be one crazy ass year. Stay with those you love. Keep them safe.

No, the husk is Solidus as he’s the perfect clone of big boss. Venom is more of a doppelgänger to big boss.
And this we find out in mgs5 that not big boss but venom snake. We as the player are kept alive
I still play the old school games like metal gear splinter cell and turok and more I miss when others played those games they had so much potential at the times unlike some games these days
Last mgs I played because everyone kept dunkin on it. I loved it.
Nobody dunked on it when it came out. What happened is that the generation that played it back in the day moved on in life and the new generation of young gamers, who played the game retroactively, couldn't handle the long cutscenes because of having a short attention span nor the appreciation for the story like those of us who lived through the MGS series as they were being released. The game scored highly among critics and fans and had lots of replayability, both in singleplayer and online. It was the true finale to the MGS story, whereas MGS5 was more about bringing the MGS world into a new age of gameplay. It is as good as it ever has been, as there are now emulators that can run the game in 60fps at impressive resolutions and with even various aspect ratios.

Snakee reaction is very much a little ptsd from the Outer Heaven and Zanzibar Land Uprisings, and the flash backs of killing Big Boss, the man who told him he was his father.
Altho we have to remember only a handful of people knew the Big Boss snake took on in Outer Heaven was not the real BB, those people being: Ocelot, Zero/Patriots system, BB himself, and i suspect Eva and maybe Miller but this is never known for sure. Also i think Dr Clark/Para Medic would've known.
The only retcon MGSV made to this was that it was Venom in Outer Heaven, but i think that the real BB was on the codec to SS all the way through N313 until SS confronted VS at the end.
So this scene and story in MGS4 still all works fine, since these characters never knew Venom existed.

No. The clones would die super fast. Naomi literally tells Snake in the second chapter of MGS4. The accelrated aging Snake goes through was a fail safe of the Les Enfants Terrible project, just like him being infertile> which is also confirmed. It's all to avoid Big Boss' genes could get used for further cloning.
Seems someone didn't play the game and sat through all the cut-scenes.

There's something else that bugs the hell out of me and that's the fact that they mentioned that to save Raiden, they'd have to take him to a Dr. Madnar, which, when I first played Solid 4, I didn't get since I hadn't played MG1 or 2, when I played it and watched a playthrough of this game, it made me wonder, was it is daughter or did he somehow survive being hit by a bunch of RC missiles, assuming it's the same person that is.
I bought the PS3 bundle just to play this game. Crazy to think I spent like $500-$600 for a game lol
