7khz LP technique shared by Jauz was originally shared by Sullivan King
Explain the technique
@@mohamedwael4267 you cut your synths and basses around 7k/8k to make specific room for white noise, hihats, special fx, etc
@@trev1212767 I’ve seen this going around but was that not just kinda common knowledge? I’m no pro but I do that to almost everything that has a high end other than the hats
bro this trick is as old as engineering itself. Sullivan King just learned it from someone else lmao
Yuh it's not really a trick. It's just one of the basics of mixing... don't overcrowd frequency bands
Man it amazes me how close producers get when replicating others’ music. Much love everyone
That's honestly how I started.
I like this song. What do i gotta do to make a sound like that? OR I liked that buildup but the drop sucked, I think a drop like THIS will be better. Then you play with a bunch of knobs, learn stuff, look up tutorial how to make similar sound, learn stuff, hopefully then apply that knowledge into making own music/ sounds
sheeeeesh its almost identical big ups my guy
So similar it got struck with copyright.

8:38 just one thing i noticed: if you look at the waveform on the original track, the bass and everything at the end of each oscillation syncs up perfectly. i'd recommend synchronizing the phase of the sub bass and the gritty reese high end by turning the random phase knob on each of the 3 oscillators (the two in that high end synth, and the one from the sine sub) to 'zero'. that's why it doesn't sound exact (example: 13:57 )
you could even go further than that by nudging the phase start points of each oscillator (using the phase knob) so that the sidechain compression from the kick TO the bass is very precisely controlled (i'm talking a few ms), so the lowest notes of the bass don't get weird phasing issues we're all familiar with when the sub from the kick kinda 'exits' the sub from the bass at the end of each sidechain.
you got the busing pretty spot on though, well done :)
you know too
they talk about this pretty extensively, every "in studio with ..." video from Noisia and even Mefjuses Particle studio sessions, it's all about phase alignment. One thing is to make dope synths and bass and drums, other thing is to make it all click together
I think Skrillex is working around the sub bass distortion and compressing everything so much that it turns out in a very uncommon, unique, loud asf and brutally amazing sound
yeah mr Beast does a video on sub design pretty neat stuff
MrBeast has a bass design tutorial; its a rlly good sound design tutorial to achieve some INSANELY gritty basses
Mr Beast?? Why would he do bass designing?
@@SkymidMusic surely they mean Mr. Bill? lmfao
Bro you’re showing us like all the sauce. Much respect
I've loved adopting that whole concept of things only happening once in my own music, but this video taught me I need to do it way more (like 10+ times like they did). Also goes to show just how much variation you can do to things if you keep the overall theme rather simple. Some Beethoven style thinking right there!
Pretty sure the main reason this track is dope is due to Noisia
100% sounds like a noisia tune through and through
Aye true.
thanks, i was looking through the comments to see if i am the only one who thinks noisia contributed a lot to the fact the song is so good
@@variationsofnoisev.o.n422thinking the same thing.
It’s a collaboration, don’t diminish skrillex
i dont mean to take anything away from skrillex. but in my opinion you should mention noisia more then just in the title of the video. because a lot of the vibe of this song speaks more noisia then skrillex for me. :)
I also think this is a really amazing song, so artistic and listening in the car with the sub takes you outta here..
Remaking tracks has so much value. I improve immensely everytime I try a remake. Haha even if it’s often nowhere close to the original.
great content. Its really a combination of small simple things/tricks that all add up to a great song
Or… very likely Noisia did not “him”…
When testing out different drum (like all the snares you showed having gone through), you can throw those in a rack and map it to a macro so you're scrolling through different samples with a MIDI knob as the beat plays
edIT had a really cool video about that a few years back let me see if i can find it
@@justinmai174 I'm actually about to make a short video (
@@brianzimmerman6774 did you make it
I noticed at 9:00 when you play the sub, it sounds like there's a click happening on the sidechain. I hear this too sometimes on my sidechain when the attack is too fast, is this just a computer error that doesn't get recorded on export? Always wondered if I should worry about this sound or not and end up lowering the attack to combat it, but not sure if that's the right move.
EDIT: it does print like that on export, so you gotta use a workaround. either by reducing attackspeed, having the end envelope drop more gradually, or I find using the v1 compressor with the FF1 setting works if you don't have LFO tool to edit the envelope end. I actually got the idea of using this compressor from an AHEE video so not sure why he wasn't using it himself.
Same though here 😂
Just bounce your track and hear for yourself bro
@@johnfire2330 Thanks that's a great idea. I tried it out and does print like that! I looked into it more on google and found a video that explains it has to do with the fast drop in volume between the end of the envelope and the quick attack of the start, so either lowing ur attack or even better having the volume drop off at the end of the envelope less abruptly (like you can do in LFOtool) fixes it.
clicks is cause of abrupt automation of sidechain, make sure to create a smooth automation to avoid clicking
yeah, zero-crossing creates that annoying click. Either smooth out the LFO/side chain automation or bounce the sub/bass to audio and manually cut out the clicks
what i'm taking away from your breakdown is that this track resonates with so many people because its human. Humans are inconsistent, flawed, yet the sum of our parts, our progression as a living being in the present is what matters.Such beautiful artistry in this song. I definitely feel like during the production phase not much was quantized or drawn in and they just let Noisia go ham on the drum rack lol, i bet you anything that they did a live take of each drum layer top to bottom and thats what gave it that organic yet alien sort of character.
damn, best remake of supersonic! would you be so kind and share the project? :)
noisia sauce all over this
I ve noticed that they used reverb in the kicks. some of them have more than others.
my name is Dylan Brady and I approve of this video. (Im not the dylan brady from this song)
Skrillex one is more dynamic, nd dynamics is the most important part of this song
I'm pretty sure the variations in the drums are kind of a product of the new chance features in Ableton 11 as these let you like easily insert a sneaky little kick (or whatever) here and there. Elphnt and Ned Rush have really great videos on this topic. By the way, your remake sounds awesome!!!
I feel like noisia did the beat, the're really crazy with the drums, also they're on cubase so they must've done it manually
@@tharushadilanka5535 yeah that beat is definitely hand rolled, these guys wouldn't throw a random generated beat out there. I watched a Noisia session and they are obsessed with minute details.
Just a little feedback. On that first section of the song, I feel it was pretty spot on. However, that crunchier layer felt a little too crunchy and overpowering. So when the chord sounding leads came in, they didn't come in as strong as they could have. Just some ideas. _-AV-_
By who? it sounds like you are saying gainymed. I wanna find the breakdown you are talking about. Could you spell out his channel? I dont see it in description
NVM I found it. BUT I cant find the breakdown :( I guess he deleted it... But I wonder why? Is it on a different website or something?
Whats the track playing at the end? ThankYou
Saw you in Vegas with subdtronics!
This song is already a year old and I thought it came out last month 🤧
i like this dude. the fact that he probably knows that his 20min tutorial/insight video might get a copyright claim yet proceeds to upload it. big ups and kudos to you!
Good job but the hi hats don't seem right or you missed some parts idk
Do you have a full version video just of the song??
This fucking guy man... I love him
hey what was that auto chop on the upper end of the bass line? was that just volume randomization?
It’s an ableton rack from my Magic Racks Vol 1. It chops up volume by phase cancellation. www.gumroad.com/ahee
@@OfficialAHEE cool thanks fam
such a sick bass sound thanks for educating me. Heard the song live from a youtube post and tried to make it ever since!
the lead in the second part is definitely a noisia type sound, so definitely harder to replicate
also that off kilter kick thing at 4:55 in the video is a very very noisia type thing
honestly the whole song sounds like at least 75% Noisia
i love these tracks because all of these amazing sources of knowledge are able to talk about intricacies that they notice!
Damn you popped off remaking it, spot on!
dude I like your version better tbh
this IS the best track! love it!
That little pitch bend in the bass/lead is perfect
I'm going to end up rewatching this multiple times for sure. That was a lot of inspiring deep information. Thank you so much for sharing your music knowledge!
daaaaawg, you are craaaaazy
You're a wild man for taking this project on lol. But i'm saving this so I can learn with you later.
and also hear are the notes. eeeee efffff deeeee lmao this is great stuff
if this is how good your remake is, Im exited to check out your stuff
You are a Good Good Teacher.
4:54 I think in the original track these could be weird bass hits. But ould be filtered and mangled drum hits too, not sure.
Anyway awesome remake, I wish I could remake tracks like you can.
tremendous, i love skrillex but i think noisia are the true masters
noisia mentored him if i'm not mistaken so i would hope so
so cool man!!! gj
Killer remake. You may try applying the Joey Sturguis technique of dipping the 4k low tuned heavy guitars, to be tried on distorted layers.. You may be surprised trying this!
sick tutorial AHEE thanks for making it, its one of my favorite songs ever I have to say. im wondering if you have any insights on the off grid rapid fire synths in this project? I wouldn't even know the first thing to program those if I had to and its just amazing. the entire thing haha
Lol bro you NAILED it
you're the man!
Funny that you mentioned Radiohead because the first thing I thought of when hearing this was “Everything in its right place”
frick dude good job
Definitely is his best track ever
This one is awesome
It's just the swing of the beat. They have the kick lined up at the start of the pattern to keep it grounded.
From the first drop when it transitioning from the synth drop to the vocal chords. That little transition is them just automating the filter right?
How many BPM ?
wow. 🙏
8:19 📌
great tut fire
Using audio for your drums like that (especially with all these layers 😵💫) seems so much harder than just using a drum rack
This is so good
You can see how loud that kick is on the waveform 😳
Dang Sonny
Yahoooo
sounds super
That bass just drives me nuts. Thank you for doing this. Gonna learn a lot!
I’ve been a huge fan of your sound design ever since Auxy got licensing for Beats from the Bass ship 2 with Black Octopus.
It’s really hard for me to find a song I don’t like every time I come across your name.
Students and mentors in PDJ (including Dylan) mention you Frequently!
I was sent to your Span breakdown a couple months back and between their advice and yours, I’ve learned to control the mud in my low end, AND I understand SPAN, which is an amazing tool.
Now you’re doing an arrangement exercise of one of my favourite pieces of music ever. I respect all 4 artists so much, but they aren’t even close to my favourites… this song is something else, like it’s luring me from another dimension, tempting me into sonic states. I feel I have to be careful not to disappear from existence.
Anyways, you’re phenomenal, you’re one of those very intuitive artists who respects music on a much more grand scale than people give it credit for. Thanks for being a sonic space adventurer exploring the soundscapes of the Ether.
Travel well my friend.
thanks for sharing this video, learned lots of valuable techniques
w
great tutorial and remake as always! The Jauz tutorial is on the channel Sol State (a great channel you might like) the vid is called the 7K trick or something like that.
I can't remember if ahee said this or if it came straight from skill, but he said he manually side chains certain things.. if you have the agility you can get a more realistic drum sound this way. No human hits the drum the same way every time, chaos theory tells us this. In theory, it is the way to add another human groove to the song making your ear accept it easier
Does anyone know how to download a full song like he has in this video on the last track
Always a mine of gold information my friend. I'm getting a lot closer to understanding what I'm really doing through your videos. Using SPAN has been an absolute life and time saver. There are some good techniques to learn here. I'll have to dissect it tonight.
3:31 I've had this "snare not fitting" problem. best solution I've found is to insert a new midi track and just start sythesizing a snare from scratch, right in the project so you can tweak it so it's just right. Operator, serum, sytrus (my favorite) or whatever your synth of choice is, and multiple instances in a group if needed for transient/fundamental, body, tail.
noisia has a long history of making a snare, making several different versions of the same snare, and bouncing all of them out for later use so they can have enough variation between each hit in a groove to keep it tastefully organic
ggs on the remake man holy shit wasn't expecting such accuracy on some basses great job learned a lot from this
love all your content man big big love to you !!
Will you be giving this .als file away or selling it?
this is sick! your leveling on some sounds are off tho. Like on the drop, that second harmony sound that comes in should be turned up a little bit and made mono. Also the synth at 1:08 is a bit too loud compared to the rest of the record. Thanks for making this tho, I learned alot! Cheers
Thank you for this. Thank you for also not audibly, forcefully, swallowing 13 times per minute.
I was hydrated.
🙏🙏🙏🙏 Bro well done! Skrillex always is ahead of the curve.
Gives kind of boombox cartel vibes
Completely agree. Skrillex’s absolute best song ever. Thanks for the insight dude. :):)
wow, great job! sounds so close and I love that track
Your one of my favorite people ever!!! You kill it making tunes you kill it helping others understand how you kill it. And u kill it at just being awesome. Please keep doing what I do
AHEE steady pumpin out bangin tunes and videos I swear you know what I wanna see before I can even get the chance to ask
god damn its identical! NICE!
Gonna check out these racks - love the extra bit of resonance they add
I hear more noisia than skrillex tbh
where can I purchase the auto chopper?? racks Vol 1,2,3 or 4?? awesome tutorials! thanks!
Auto chopper is part of Vol 1, U can grab all the volumes on my gumroad, thanks for the support! : gumroad.com/ahee
this is a solid solid remake. One of my fav skrillex songs, and you nailed it!
omg that base is GREASY
You nailed bro, thanks for sharing
Great content! Love the appreciation of the creativity and technical skill of the creator(s) of this track.
You are awesome for doing this
Ahee, what a small world. I think a good friend of mine in Costa Rica knows your family?? 😂 ♥ ✌️ 👽
Yeah could be! My mom has friends who live there.
@@OfficialAHEE yeah, he sent me one of ur videos and said "I think you two would get along. he's the son of one of my ex coworkers" and it was Ahee 😂 yesss I'm already a fan 😂 ✌️

Incredible! Very skillful.
You're a legend for this one
