I just experienced my first long-mileage trip with my *Hyundai Tuscon*. For a small SUV going 800 miles up mountains (in Colorado elevation), it handled things like a boss. As far as a five day day packing trip, we took a 8-person tent, a 10X10 Canopy, two ice chests, two chair bags, and made everything packed, but just fine and managed. The Tucson has more room than you look at when you buy it. I still made room to see outside the back window. I have a 2018 Tucson 4-cyliner-turbo. I got 33mpg, despite the climb up into the mountains.
You gotta admit Hyundai/Kia has absolutely been killing the market within the past decade and they're becoming the leader in almost every segment on the " budget " side. In Ohio, I see more Hyundais/Kias than I see GM's whole fleet let alone any other automaker.
@luvluca toni yea, H/K have always shared the same platforms and parts while Kia always has tried to be the sportier of the two. Personally I feel they have more style in the normal consumer market than most of the competition especially in the early 2010's they went for a very dramatic styling choice. If you look back to their early days tho, their style was very cookie cutter and looked like a mix of almost all cars on the market. These days they're doing great things tho, and it's awesome to see such a great seller in the N.American market that isn't German or Japanese. Their quality control has turbo'd in the last 10-15 years and I feel the only thing holding them back as a brand is their brand name itself. Good too see them finally get things going tho and people start to give in and give them a chance.
Both great cars. I think the Santa Fe seems a bit more upscale, even in a lower trim level. Just like the interior better, particularly the instrumentation.
Nice pricing structure Hyundai. For about the same money you can choose between a fully loaded Tuscon, a mid-range Santa Fe or an entry-level Palisade.
Im in the UK, got a top loaded Tucson last month and im loving it. Driving position is great and its not too big for our pokey little parking spaces. A pleasure to drive.
Have Tucson for over a year,,two oil changes and that's it,,no hiccups or problems, gas consumption 1 tank in 2 weeks city drivin,,it's AWD so spends more but I don't get stuck in the snow ❄️ anymore since winter lasts 6 months in Canada 🇨🇦..I personally wouldn't mind any of them..Great vehicles 🚗...
My first Hyundai was the 2002 Santa Fe V6 AWD. Last year I picked up a new 2020 Limited 2.0T AWD. The progress Hyundai has made in the past 18 years is pretty amazing. One more thing; The power rear hatch can run at 2 different speeds (select in the dash menu) and someone may have changed the speed to slower. You can also adjust how much the rear hatch opens.
Stop the zonking please. I love my “new” Santa Fe FULLY LOADED Ultimate! I’m so glad Hyundai and KiA reworked their vehicles and are considered “preferred” makes! Hyundai for life! From a 2013 Sonata to a new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Ultimate! I live in Texas. I’m so glad I chose my Santa Fe Ultimate because I was considering the Tucson. Consumer reports says the Santa Fe gets a much better score. However, Hyundai makes safe vehicles! ❤️❤️❤️
Raiti's Rides I agree it’s the word “zonk” that annoys me lol!!! I love my Santa Fe - 5 passenger. Love the mirror too lol. I am a new widow with 1 14 year old son. My husband was a coach that had a 2017 Ford Explorer with all the bells and whistles.
I live in Texas too and I was just in a very bad car accident. I had a Hyundai Elantra and it’s now totaled. I’m definitely sticking with Hyundai and I plan to get a Tucson soon! My Hyundai saved my life ❤️
I'm going to share this video to my wife. I've gotten her to look into the Hyundai SUV's and she is really in love with them after years on driving the Toyota Rav4. Shes definitely in the market on 1 of these SUV's today. Thanks for this great review and great content and I'm sure my wife will really appreciate it also and this video will determine which vehicle she will choose from going forward. 👍
Bro..go for it..i drove Rav 4 for a ling time..you dont get a lot in there except reliability..and frankly over the yeara Hhndai reliability is awesome..i have a 2020 Santa fe and we love everything except a little engine noise in the cabin..
I have a Sonata and love it. When I didn’t have heat in it this past winter the dealer came to my work with a brand new Santa Fe for me to drive and it was beautiful. When it is time to get another car, I will most definitely consider it as my first suv. Hyundai by far has been the best car I ever owned. And nice comfortable economical stylish car.
The 2019 Hyundai Tucson Sport is an awesome vehicle. Just purchased one after much deliberation. Also looked at/test drove a couple Subaru Foresters and a Mazda CX-5. We ultimately decided on the Tucson because we loved the look and feel of it and Hyundai’s 10 year warranty was so appealing. Best customer service by far at the Hyundai dealership as well. We spent more than 6 hours with our sales guy Andy and he was so knowledgeable and informative yet not pushy or impatient. Big shout out to Kearny Mesa Hyundai in San Diego!!!!!!!!
Santa Fe...killer space, new design, much more comfort and refined. And 8 speeds...end of discussion. I had rented a Santa for 12 days and it's so comfortable and steady on the road. I was sad returning it.
Joe I drove the 2020 Santa Fe and it is in a word amazing. The comfort of the ride, the handling, comfortable seats, great looking interior and front of the vehicle. Also the technology is next level including the 3D holograph like bottom windshield guide if you can handle it while driving. Tremendous car. The one problem is the rear blindspots. If you have trouble with visibility you will be left pouting that you can’t have this car as I was. Noted that the new blindspot camera is amazing, but still won’t drive without being able to physically see for myself.
itsjustme I own the value but my lease is up next month and I been wanting to get the Tucson sport or the SEL Santa Fe I was thinking for the Palisade but it’s too big for me and it’s just me driving.
I just purchased a 2020 Tucson SLE, lots of features for the money. My wife is short and I am tall, so finding a vehicle that fits both of us was a daunting task. We settled on the 2020 Tucson. We were on a budget, what could we afford? We have always had Toyotas, but they fell outside of our budget. We wanted a good warranty since this would be the last car we'll ever buy. I, at age 75 and my wife 68 a peppy car wasn't important. Since most of our driving is within a few miles of where we live. I found the Tucson to be very comfortable, easy to drive and I love the safety feature with LKA, blind-spot alert, auto-braking, and backup alerts are very handy for my slower reflexes. All in all, I am very happy with the Tucson. So far we are getting 30.2 on average with the 2.4-liter engine. Not bad.
We just purchased the 2020 Tucson SEL ourselves. For some reason this trim level does not have daytime running lights, at least that's what the dealer tells me. They said it starts on the Sport trim level. Can you confirm this on yours as well?
I agree when he said that the head lamps should be mounted on top instead of the front bumper. The head lamps will easily get dirty during the winter and it will be covered with snow with no doubt. One thing very important is that turn signal lights should be mounted way far from the head lamps so other drivers can easily determine the signal lights during night time especially if it’s foggy, snowing and raining. I hope Hyundai will reconsider the front design and give a facelift soon.
either one!! both are very good reliable cars!! don't forget Hyundai took some of the best engineers and designers from Audi BMW and Bentley plus you get Hyundai and Kia reliability !!!
I love Raiti’s (??) and every man drivers reviews. It’s straight to the point and does a real good job of showing what you want to see & hear. Redline review is good too.
Due to the price of used cars, finding a 2018 or 2019 Santa Fe for under $24-$25k is very hard right now. I also don't think I *really* need that much space, so I think I'm going with the '19 Tucson Value trim. I like the overall style as well; reminds me of my mom's '17 Sonata SEL which is beautiful, comfortable, and super fun to drive! Nice review, thanks!
One would think having headlights higher on the grill would afford a longer headlight projection on a dark road. I never liked these goofy lights on the lower grille. I just don't get it.
The new Hyundai vehicles look amazing!! IMO, the Sonata even beats the Camry/Accord design especially with the new gray color 😍 currently looking at getting one of these and your videos help a lot!!
This is so helpful! I don't always know what features are most important when I'm trying to buy a vehicle. I don't necessarily agree with some of the things that were "zonked", but everyone has different priorities. Both vehicles look amazing, and I think I'm ready to trade in my Elantra GT (which I have LOVED for six years)!
The only problem I have had with my 2017 Tucson is with the key fob........the buttons are so sensitive brush up against something around or near the car and horn blows the car unlocks or tail gate opens, more then once I have been called about the open backend, the key comes off in my pocket,I bought a fob holder problem solved.Love this vehicle and will purchase another next year
I know some people are saying that you should've compared the top trim level for both cars, but the fact is most people set a budget for how much they'll spend and this is a good way to compare what you'll get for the price and what is more important to you, space or tech features. I've seen both of these vehicles in person, and prefer the Tucson Night Edition. Also, I feel that the 2.4 in the Santa Fe is more 'worked' because of the weight increase. Though I do think the Santa Fe has the best cloth seats and wished they offered it on the Tucson as well.
@Raiti's Rides - This is the PERFECT comparison video for me! I have been trying to decide between these exact options! Fully loaded Tucson OR Santa Fe SEL plus...? After driving them.. and measuring the trunk space for what I need.... I've decided that the 2019 Tucson Ultimate is for me. Living in TEXAS those ventilated seats are a MUST... plus always love leather over cloth (easier to clean) Also the Navigation is a needed option for my job. Like the front lights better on the Tucson also. I just hope to get better gas mileage than shown on the sticker. **But why in the heck can't they keep CD players in vehicles??** I have SO many mix CD's I love. (have a 6 CD changer in my Honda now) This was a change I could do without.
I bought a 2018 Tucson Value Edition (one trim shy of fully loaded) last year, and I love the 1.6 Turbo engine. I really love the car and it's been a great car for the family. Oh, and we got it in Pensacola, so we're down the road a bit! lolz.
Great review Joe I like the Tucson more because its smaller and there's no reason to have a car that big and bulky but I'll give credit to the Santa Fe. Thanks Joe.
I was a hospice nurse for years....every 2 years i got a new Hyundai Tucson every two years and loved them. I took them through tornados multiple times, there was an extra inch or two of clearance that allowed me to hop curbs and go straight to front door in crazy neighborhoods. I drove my last one 800+ a week all over every kind of road and non road. I had all the extras, one things i would recommend. The rails on the roof is a must.
The only thing I don't like about the Santa Fe is that engine. In Korea, we get a wicked 2.2L diesel. It's way better than that 2L Turbo. As for the Tucson, an all new and much improved model is coming next year. Can't wait!
@@RaitisRides Rumor here in Korea is that the all new Sportage will debut first and then the Tucson will follow shortly after. By the end of the year they say!
@@RaitisRides What is changing with the 2020 Tucson? I am about to buy the 2019 Tucson Ultimate... should I wait?? WHEN will the 2020 be out? Need a new car very soon.
@@RaitisRides while I'm handing you assignments... Lincoln Nautilus and Aviator when it arrives. Unless I missed it you haven't been to a Lincoln lot yet. Their SUVs are killing. Aviator is the one I'm looking forward to most. ... One more assignment... Audi Q8,... ;)
I have a 2018 Hyundai Accent, I got a loaner Tucson due to Hyundai replacing my steering wheel volume switch. My Accents seats are very supportive, at least in my opinion. But, I thought the Tucson's seats were really flat and uncomfortable... It might just be the one I got. I've recently sat in the new Santa Fe, it was much more comfortable.
Aluminum speaker covers would be more expensive on the Tucson Ultimate trim, but they could have made them a little brighter with silver accents so the speakers aren’t so monochromatic
Hyundai is amazing!!! I have a 2019 Tucson Sport. I think the Santa Fe is stunning but as far as size, the Tucson is perfect. I also think the Kona is amazing
Excellent comparison! I have a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited and love it. I'm starting to think about upgrading as it's becoming a little dated etc. I've looked at the Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage, Subaru Forrester, and Honda CRV. Yes, I liked the Mazda CX-5 but my past experience with owning a Mazda was not so good. As much as I like the size and horsepower of my 2008 Santa Fe Limited (242hp), I don't necessarily need as much cargo now and been thinking about the Tuscon. Have you tested other years of Hyundai Tuscon and Santa Fe's? (the 2019 headlights are a deal-breaker for me) Are there particular years to avoid? The reason I ask is that I like the upper trim levels and may not be able to afford a 2019 Limited or Ultimate and looking at either the Tucson and Santa Fe I may have other options to afford the upper trim. Thanks again for your comparison. Very helpful.
Excellent video Joe!!! Here in Minnesota I’d need AWD. I like the size of the Tucson more because it’s just the wife and I. The dash is superior in the Santa Fe. The Santa Fe seats are just about the ugliest I’ve ever seen. The Tucson looks like it has more plastic. Keep up the great work young man 👍
The Santa Fe is also a nice SUV. I like fact that the front seats add a little more protection around the body. It is a nice size and you can put a little more in the cargo area. I own a 2019 Tucson. I'm enjoying it. My only thing is that I don't have navigation which would have been nice. However, I am suprised that neither the Santa Fe or Tucson did not come with CD players. The material of the seats look to be comfortable. Nice touch. Overall, you did a great job on presentation.
You did awesome review, i have 3 kids (7, 5 and 2 old Yrs.), we did test drive and found very exited with Santa Fe, and the price 23k (basic trim) is great. But i not sure if i need a little more space, next week i wanna try the New Palisade.. Thanks for you video !!
Love your reviews, but on either car you didn't talk about the brake hold feature (that can be turned on by pushing a button near the shifters) to where the driver won't have to keep his/her foot on the brake pedal after stopping...just go back on the gas pedal and the brake is released. It's a neat feature not found on many new cars (yet). I found that feature to be on the Forester, which I'm looking at in this category.
I'm car shopping after a deer totalled my gorgeous Lincoln mkz hybrid, and I'm really enjoying your reviews. I'm looking to switch it up with a small suv. And I'm an avid snack stasher, so.... I NEED to know how many twinkies and cheeseburgers I can hide. *update* I ended up buying the Ford Escape titanium with a panoramic sunroof and tow package. 2017 with 35k miles. I absolutely love it! I can fit at least 4 push lawnmowers in the back with the seats down. And my console holds a *whole* box of twinkies and a 8" sub sandwich. Just sayin'
Hyundai is a giant heavy industrial manufacturing company that has its biggest roots in ship building. I understand they entered the auto market as an interesting side business, and they became moderately successful but t heir cars were really not very good. They were going to be driven out of the market by better competitors and go the way of Fiat and Yugo in the USA when the company heads were at a decision point. Either get out and do the other things they do well or invest, and get all in to compete on a serious level. We know that's what they did, they had to build competitive quality or just don't do it at all. They certainly had the capitol to do it. From that point on their quality was truly competitive, though not on the level of Toyota or Ford, their pricing reflects a good value, and a really good car. Probably the best in the low price field.
I like your candor as you describe the two SUV's from Hyundai, but you failed to mention if either one has a spare tire. I can change my own flat, if necessary, when I am unable to call for roadside assistance, so a spare would be nice to have---just in case!
I drive Hyundai Santa Fe for 7 years. The engine is still strong. If you have family Sante Fe. Tucson is a great car to have if your Student High school to University.
I'd take either one. Hyundai/KIA all the way!

Oh, and we got it in Pensacola, so we're down the road a bit! lolz.
Wow it is such a small world! I am so glad that you are enjoying your Tucson.
Great review Joe I like the Tucson more because its smaller and there's no reason to have a car that big and bulky but I'll give credit to the Santa Fe. Thanks Joe.
Good call Jay!
uhm yes there's a reason .... some people have a few kids & need lots of space in a vehicle
I would like to see a review on the 2020 Hyundai Tucson Value. And do a video on the features only sometimes. love the channel!
Thanks fr the great suggestions. I will get it together!
As always a very detailed and informative review. Love watching comparison videos especially.
This video is amazing! I love Hyundai and this video just showed how nice these cars are. Thank you so very much!
Very detailed body styling comparison. I appreciate you pointing out what you call "zonks". Great video, Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Chuck for letting me share them with you!
I just 2020 Santa Fe Sel plus , nice ride better then my 2018 Rav4 limited
Great review! I am currently trying to decide between the two and this was very informative. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and for saying those wonderful words!
The only thing I don't like about the Santa Fe is that engine. In Korea, we get a wicked 2.2L diesel. It's way better than that 2L Turbo. As for the Tucson, an all new and much improved model is coming next year. Can't wait!
I am really excited for the next Tucson.
@@RaitisRides Rumor here in Korea is that the all new Sportage will debut first and then the Tucson will follow shortly after. By the end of the year they say!
It's going to be exciting!
@@RaitisRides What is changing with the 2020 Tucson? I am about to buy the 2019 Tucson Ultimate... should I wait??
WHEN will the 2020 be out? Need a new car very soon.
Now do kia telluride vs hyundai palisade
tigerbaitcom as soon as the Pallisade is available you got it.
Audi Q8,... ;)
Yeah I am still waiting on access into a Lincoln dealership. I will get it done my friend!
I really like the look of the Santa Fe, going to test drive one tomorrow.
That's awesome! Let me know how it goes!
I would take the Santa Fe
I agree with you!
We're off to order our Tucson tomorrow. Can't wait.
Congrats! You will love it!
Take a nap while it closes😂 keep it up Joe and of course Tom!
Thanks for letting me share the laughs with you!
Love this comparison. Please do a CRV and Passport comparison.
I will get that together for you!
Raiti's Rides Awesome! Thank you!
You are so very welcome!
You should compare the same trim levels for a true comparison.
Then that would throw off the price. It was all about seeing what you could get for your money.
Excellent review.. i most say i like the looks of Tucson than the santafe even though the look is growing on me some what and it's more spacious
Thanks for the compliment Joe! I appreciate you watching!
Would have been nice if the Limited trim got some inside wood accents on the doors and the along the front.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one!
@@RaitisRides Thank you!
Hope you're staying cool out there in the Florida heat!
It's tough Nara but the show must go on! Thanks for watching!
Excellent review.. you described what we were looking for... 👍
love this channel
That really means a lot! Thank you for being part of the Raiti's Rides family!
Keep up the great work young man 👍
Hi Joe enjoy the Vlog could you consider sometime in the future doing a Vlog on the Genesis 70 sedan. Thanks again for the great work. 👍😎
Hi Steve! I already have yo covered! ruclips.net/video/g54-gj-RK5Q/видео.html
Santa fe hands down...
I rather have enough room than not enough, same for power and Santa fe has a higher clearance... especially the interior
I am so glad tat you like this one.
You ought to compare kia sportage sx and hyundai tuscon fully loaded
I will put that together!
2019 Tucson value trim FWD $23,500 OTD. Great Deal (include 3,000 rebates)??
What is sticker on that?
@@RaitisRides the window sticker is $26,025
The 2.2 @200 hp Santa fe is the best choice .
The Santa fe is actually a redesign and not a refresh.
Thanks for the info!
To be honest not a big fan of either one; But the Kona, now that's a totally different matter!!
Hyundai seems to have something for everyone!
thanks for the detailed info!
You are so very welcome Kenneth!
Thanks Regina for the compliment! I really appreciate you watching!
The 2019 Santa Fe wasn't a "refreshed" Santa Fe, it was redesigned for 2019 so it was brand new
You did awesome review, i have 3 kids (7, 5 and 2 old Yrs.), we did test drive and found very exited with Santa Fe, and the price 23k (basic trim) is great. But i not sure if i need a little more space, next week i wanna try the New Palisade.. Thanks for you video !!
A dependable comparison review
Thanks for letting me share it with you!
@@RaitisRides You're most welcome
You are the man!
Thanks for the comparison, well done.
I really appreciate you saying that!
Yes! Tucson ultimate 4 me! Thank you
Love your reviews, but on either car you didn't talk about the brake hold feature (that can be turned on by pushing a button near the shifters) to where the driver won't have to keep his/her foot on the brake pedal after stopping...just go back on the gas pedal and the brake is released. It's a neat feature not found on many new cars (yet). I found that feature to be on the Forester, which I'm looking at in this category.
no palisade yet Raiti...thumbs up brother.
My local dealer got one in and it sold in an hour! I'm trying!
@@RaitisRides wife traded in her 4 runner in yesterday for a ultimate palisade...dont pick it up till July though..
@@RaitisRides ok I'll wait for that review..mention the king of trucks wife just purchased a ultimate palisade ..thumbs up brother.
Tuscpn needs the turbo back though
I totally agree with you Tom!
I have a 2019 tucson which I don't like the downward heater blower design because it takes forever to warm up your feet due to smaller openings.
Nice review man!
Thank you for taking the time to say that!
🥰
Just sayin'
What made you go for the ford ???
Sure love my 2020 Santa Fe
I drive Hyundai Santa Fe for 7 years. The engine is still strong. If you have family Sante Fe. Tucson is a great car to have if your Student High school to University.
Thanks for sharing your ownership experience on this one.
Thanks so much for this review. I'm looking for a spare Winter car for New England and Hyundai works for me.
Video is very good. I had to go back again. I’m like hmm Tucson is looking better
great job Joe ur the best man u tell it like it is super good job god bless brother I mean that from my heart
You are such a great member of the Raiti's Rides family!
You did a great Unbiased review! Genuine and honest, thanks 🙏
