    My dad had one of these when they first released.. I really liked the way it looked especially with the BBS rims. Sporty & sleek, big sunroof, the vehicle felt really good quality. Then he traded it for a GMC Sierra lol we still have that truck and love it to death but there are times where I miss the Tucson so I come back to this review.

    We love our Night Edition Tuscon. It's nice to stand out a little, we haven't seen any others around town. I wish leather was an option in the Night edition and the fuel economy has been a little disappointing considering the lack of power coming from the motor. Overall, I think its a great value. I think Hyundai is really putting out some good vehicles for the price

    I think we all need to take a minute and thank Joe for taking the time to read our comments on every single video. He really takes the time to show his appreciation to his subscribers/viewers. It’s quite obvious how hard he and his team are working to get these videos out there. Very professional and presentable. Again, nice reviews and keep them coming! I will say that the 1.6T in the previous generation Tucson will be missed. Dual clutch transmissions are more rough than a conventional transmission and the older customer base didn’t like that and thought there was something wrong when there wasn’t. I had a 2017 Tucson Sport 1.6T loaner once and the transmission acted just like my 07 VW GTI DSG. It’s what gives the car it’s character. The 1.6T also has less GDI problems than the 2.4. Hyundai and Kia had some major issues with the original 2.4 from 2011-2016 and I’m not completely sure they’ve corrected the problems 100%. They should have kept the 1.6T, but switched to a conventional 6 or 8-speed automatic!

      Tom Dolgin, IMO, I think Hyundai will likely sell more Tucsons since they lack CVT, DCT & turbos. This is probably why they went this route. The public is becoming more informed of DCT issues (Ford Hyundai) as well as CVTs (Nissan Jatco). IMO, the Tucson looks so much nicer than competition from Toyota, Honda, Nissan.

    I gotta ask...what's with the need or want of a "frameless" rear view mirror? What are you going to do with the buttons that surround the mirror for SOS, Homelink garage door opener, etc. if you put in a frameless mirror?

    I have owned two Hyundai cars and one KIA. My 2011 Elantra was ahead of it's time in styling. In fact many of the other manufactures started to copy many of the style lines of the Elantra. This Tucson is a great looking car and I am sure very useful. My 2015 KIA Sportage was a very useful and properly sized SUV for our family. It also had good styling.
    Unfortunately , although the styling of Hyundai and KIA is always improving it seems that the quality of the mechanics has taken a major step backwards. Our 2009 Hyundai Sonata was top quality and above the competition. The 2011 Elantra had great styling, but it seemed that some of the quality started to slip. When it was time to move to a SUV because of easier access to the interior, we looked at the Tucson and Sportage. The Sportage had a little better door clearance for the leg swing. We did not hesitate, we stayed with the Hyundai and KIA line.
    Our 2015 Sportage went into the dealer for a computer engine management software update and also a slight tick noise during the initial start up process. This was back in October of 2018. It is my guess it is still behind the shop waiting for a replacement engine. This was one of the million engine recalls. Fortunate for us, the good dealer purchased our Sportage (at a major loss for us) at the end of December when we knew the earliest we could expect the engine would be in March.
    Now, Hyundai and KIA make great looking cars and I did love all of mine until it sat in back of the dealer's shop for months.
    Take away - Styling and options are great, but do look into the quality issues and how Hyundai and KIA are handling them.

    Great Review!
    I bought the 2019 Night Edition (white) and absolutely love it! Except for the 2.4L, though. However, I had the 2017 Night Edition w/1.6Turbo but I have to tell you guys, that turbo/tranny combination came with problems. There was always a 2-3 second lag between stepping on the gas from a full stop or rolling slowly to the car actually taking off. It's a bit of a problem when you're turning to cross traffic and takes some getting used to. With the 2.4L, that problem has gone completely away. No lag and the car moves forward when I step on the gas. With that being said, I still wish they would have added more HP to this. I mean, the 2.4L is OK, but it certainly leaves you wanting more, especially on a model called the "Night" edition which is implying performance.
    Also, the 2019 Night Edition comes with a TON more safety/convenience features than my 2017 Night Edition. And the only thing you're missing on the Night vs Ultimate is:
    * Surround View Mirror
    * High Beam Assist
    * Side Mirrors w/Turn Signal
    * Leather Seats
    * Power Passenger Seats
    * Ventilated Front Seats (whatever that is)
    * Heated Rear Seats
    * 8" Touch Screen (as opposed to 7")
    * Rain Sensing Wipers
    * Heated Steering Wheel
    * 4.2" Display Gauge (as opposed to 3.5")
    That's it. Otherwise you get everything the Ultimate has (including panoramic sunroof) but with a much sleeker and cooler look. To me, that was worth the trade-off between the Night and Ultimate. Most of those "extra" features on the Ultimate aren't that great and/or necessary, IMO. You can compare the FULL specs on each trim type here: www.hyundaiusa.com/tucson/specifications.aspx.
    However, when that Tuscon N line w/340HP shows up in the US in another year or two (www.motor1.com/news/303607/hyundai-tucson-n-rumor/), I will definitely be trading this one in and getting that. My only concern with the N line is that they might remove a ton of the safety/convenience features for the performance. Not sure if I want to trade all that in for a bigger engine, but we'll see. Price will also play a major role. If they're going to ask 40K or more for it then no way, I'll keep my Night edition.

  • @silentrefusal9911
    @silentrefusal9911 5 лет назад +1

    31,600 USD for this?? Are you sure it's a good buy in this price range? For this price, I can get a Subaru Forester Sport with better ground clearance, better off road ability, better driving, roomier cabin and bigger trunk space, better and more comfortable seats, much sturdier interior build quality.
    I don't know why exactly would one take this over a Forester sport or even a middle trim Santa Fe

    It’s a nice looking car and I agree this car should have a turbo in it, it looks better than the Santa Fe edition. It be a real contender if they had more ponies. Hyundai appears to just focus on making non performance models for their main brand and leave the fast and fun stuff for Genesis these days.

      I’m starting to think the same way the last couple of years! I just bought a 2019 VW Tiguan SE and all Tiguans have a single engine option... a 2.0 Turbo. And yes it’s a bit lethargic off the line. I would probably be 95% happy if the Tiguan had a more powerful V6. The fuel economy isn’t great. It retailed for $28,110. If it weren’t for the large discount from VW Dealers I would not have given the Tiguan a chance. The manufacturers are jamming so much safety technology in them I suppose it’s driving prices up. I drove them all, Tucson (which I liked), the CR-V & Rav-4 and a few others under $40k. No regrets on my Tiguan. The Tucson would have been acceptable to me as well.

Special editions should always have a HP boost. 200-210 HP would totally sell me on this but! The the new Ford escape Eco boost has a 250+ HP...... Probably for around the same price.
