I have one of these and I LOVE him! He's got so much personality, and he's always so exited to see me lol. He's with 4 blood parrots and one platinum parrot and it's the cutest bunch of fish ever. They all get along, just occasional little squabbles but even those are adorable lol.

I have 2 of them, they like to play with my daughter when she sticks her fingers in the tank. They definitely have personality!

I have a blue polar parrot fish last month its so small when i bought it and now its literally big and it recognizes me like when i come closer to her tank it come out of its hiding spot and wiggles but when other people come to the tank it stays hidden in its hiding spot and i just think its sweet :)
How big do polar blue clichlids get?
@@arjunpa8648they vary a lot. Mine is like 4 inches but I’ve seen some at 8. Nothing is in stone with crossbred fish

I have 12 total of 6 each in my 150 and just like the regular convicts I've had I love the way the began to totally reconstruct the tank and they're also beginning to pair up some have already established territory

I have 7 they haven't started to breed but I can't wait until they do I have them with 2 regular blood parrots, and 2 belly bean parrots it is my favorite tank parrot fish are my favorite in the hobby I love them all! I also have a 15 year old parrot in another tank. Great video!

Ive been on the fence on some of these for my community 125gal tank. I have a lot of tetras,German Rams, Roseline Sharks, Clown loaches. Can I add some of these to my tank ?
it says that they can be with tetras, but theyre chasing them so ive removed my tetras.
They were with my danios ive observed them and theyre not chasing my danios even if they will swim infront of them, the next morning i saw one danio floating and saw that they bit his head off poor fish.

Why does one of the polar fish have a red belly?
Hi my name soi have dose type fish to and I see them breed fo the last couple of weeks and after 2 weeks their baby's started to swim around and notice after a days all of the babies are gone is there any possibility that my dinos fish eat them? I am super amazed at these cichlids!! I have had blood parrot cichlids for a long time. Although the last one of my parrot fish died recently and I was very sad!! I think the oldest one that I had lived for about 13 years! I love these parrot fish..they are adorable!!
I had to put my lil male blue polar in my community freshwater 30 gal my 75 gal cichlid tank they beat on him so bad his fins wear tore off ,I found out they truly don't get that big ither idk but he seems to do fine with my corys ,loach ,two zebra danios 4 creek minnows two PARIDISE gourmis ,two Betta ,two guppies an they all get along it's crazy

How big do these get? Can they really get to 8"? Mine are 1-1.5" and have started laying eggs. Does this mean this is the adult size?
General consensus is 3.5"-4", however, they are a hybrid of a hybrid, so there is going to be some difference.
I've seen blood parrots max out at 5" but also get bigger than 8" for example.
I have one of these growing some sorta bump on his head. I know some fish like flower horns can grow a head bump but I haven't seen any convicts with this. Is this because hes sick or is it something else?
Convict males develop these bumps or nuchal humps. It's just fatty tissue that develops on mature or larger 3-3.5 inch fish.
Healthy fish then, mine has a belly as fat as his humpy head.

They stick around the 4 - 5 inch mark

Hi, I just picked up 4 of these today from my local fish store. The thing is I live in Vietnam and my vietnamese isnt all that good, I didnt really know what type of fish they were, and just went for them based on their looks. They are the first four fish to go into my new 75g tank along with 4 corydoras. My original intention was to move my tiger barbs and clown loaches into this tank. Do you think all these fish will get along. I'm fairly new to the hobby, but struggling a little with the names of fish and identifying them. The vietnamese names often dont translate that well, I have been researching certain fish that can go together, but this was more of an on the spot purchase, will it work ? Any advice would be welcome. Thank you .
I gat these fish in pair male abs female. My tank is a community one of molly , tetra,pink, school fish and Dayno ,some others but I later noticed these two taking territory but they all get along jus at times they chase the molly away Frm their territory

So I have heard two different stories about how they came about. First story is it's a hybrid cross of a male convict and female parrot. The other story is that it's not a hybrid and simply just a deformed short convict cichlid. So which is true? I'm leaning more toward it being a hybrid.
Hybrid, mine are much thicker than my convicts. Similar personalities
My male polar blue paired up with a female Honduran red point, the result is perfect Honduran Red point babies as the short bodied gene is recessive. I lean towards the short bodied convict and Honduran Red point hybrid explanation, my polar blue has all the colouring of a male Honduran red point shades of blue but a lovely red tail fin.
Btw some cichlids do school like discus

These aren't part parrot. They are short body convict/hrp. Real parrot convict crosses look like big brownish chunky convicts. Males are also sterile. Some do fade though.

These guys stay pretty little, I would think a 30 gallon would be fine for breeding.

I am breeding two pairs each pair in a 20 gallon and even with their babies there's still enough room. Very soon I'm going to be transferring the babies into a 10 gallon grow out tank to move them along into their own 20 tank at some point but right now in a 20 gallon works fine

When they start laying eggs and the babies hatch you get around I would say a hundred, very difficult to count 😊 but there's always some lost and one of my couple it's probably left with about 30 to 40 babies 😁

jorge david ordoñez mogrovejo they get to 3 to 4” is what we see with ours. They grow relatively fast. Then slow.
