I've been keeping all sorts of fish since I was in kindergarten and I couldn't agree more with you on the fact that blood parrot's characters make them so likeable, it's like having a pet dog in your aquarium.
Mine is so needy. Lol wants my attention constantly. When, I can't always be around he's turning pale. Depressed maybe. When I give him cuddles with my hands he brightens in color. I love them.
I had one and it lived on its own. it was a lovely fish and incredibly friendly. It used to be constantly keeping a eye on me. I recommend them as a pet that will acquire a little personality the longer you own

Such incredible fish. My cichlid is very smart. I see him actively trying to figure out what I want from him when I teach new tricks. My favorite fish I have ever kept. Easily with the most personality I have kept.
I had a blood red parrot fish when I was younger and I fell in love with it. I didn't know much about them but that didn't matter to me at the time. I recently purchased a polar parrot fish who i have with a retail shark. They get along quite well so far.

I have two blood parrots. One with blue eyes and the other gold. They are so much fun! My larger of the two has taken over a Cichlid cave and stands guard 24/7. The other could care less if he/she has a cave or not. Their personalities are so different. I have them in a tank with Angels, Silver dollar, Killies and a Sailfin Pleco. They all do well together. I find them to be very interactive and smart!
You nailed it with smart. I've had dogs harder to train than mine. He got aggressive during feeding a while back. Got the net out and did a little chasing of my own. He pouted for a day. Hasn't chased another fish since and is back to being my buddy. Seems to make the rest of my fish more comfortable with me too since he's not skittish or shy at all.
I own 4 of these fellas and I can tell they have different personalities they sure get jealous when a new a fish enters the tank, but in a few minutes they calm down they are sweethearts when eating or playing.
My first fish was a blood parrot and he lived for 11 years I remembered crying like for 2 days when he died as he was like a friend to me as he always played with my hand and the fact that he was with me for 11 years 🙁I truly recommend this guys but the only downside is that you will be very sad when they die because of their personality and the bond you have created with them.

I’ve been keeping fancy goldfish for awhile now and have wanted to expand my aquarium portfolio. Blood parrots and parrot cichlids in general caught my eye (because they looked like weird goldfish to me at first lol) and after watching this, wow! They remind me so much of goldies. Both are personable and beautifully colored. I hope to get some of these once I get a new tank :)
I have one blood parrot Buford, he is in a tank with 9 polar blue parrots an angle, 2 electric blue rams, 9 harlequin roseboras and many assorted algae eaters and plecos. He is the most friendly and comical fish I own , he has a huge crush on my wife lol. The heart versions, as well as the tattoed ones always make me cringe. Ive never been a fan of Parrots but I can appreciate their interactions with their owners.
i have 6 in a 125g. Love them. I was really surprised to see them with the red eared slider! Wow. I never really liked tiger barbs cuz they are mean, LOL..But with blood parrots, that looks really awesome. Gave me something to think about, thank you.
They're such a great tank mate for the red eared slider because they are very aware and defend themselves but yet cannot hurt the turtle. Dont forget the clown loaches for the full combo
I absolutely love my blood parrot! His name is Clem (short for clementine) and has the best personality ever. He's one of the smallest in my tank but is definitely the boss
We have one, it quickly became the kids' favourite fish and they named it Blubbi. Blubbi will spend alot of time watching us, especially when we are having dinner, she will just hang out and hope for attention. And its nice to know that we can keep Blubbi as a pet for many years to come❤
I love the look of the yellow tigers but if I go for parrots in the end, I would really like a few King Kongs, surely they must be the pinnacle of parrot keeping!

Flowerhorn vid will be the one after next but the next video will definitely be related to and have lots of flowerhorns and kamfas in it! I work at a grocery store that sells fish and we have a blood parrot with black marks in the shape of a smile. Its the cutest damn thing and i cant wait to move so i can get a huge tank and save him from the crowded tank hes in now
Your video was extremely helpful for me, I'm setting up a 29 gallon tank now .. And I will be the adding the fish in a couple weeks. After watching your video I believe I'm going to downside the number of fish. Ty
I love the blood parrot very much my son he is only 12 he has his own tank with 2 parrot jack demsay, green terror, they get along well thanks for this video!💕
My favorite fish I’ve ever had. Smart, can go with pretty much any other fish aside from cardinal tetras and hyper aggressive fish like dovii. I’ve had mine with large tetras to a Jack Dempsey and it’s always been the boss.
personally i have such a soft spot for blood parrots. it was the third fish as a fish keeper that i owned and i did really like it... for the short time i had it, i rehomed it to my friend who had a much bigger tank. one day i will love to get myself one more blood parrot, tho one of my pond buddies dosent like that its a hybrid
We got one from our step father and the blood parrot ALWAYS stares and follows everyone whenever someone passes by the tank. My sister doesn't like him for it because she doesn't like being stared at lol
Always been a fan of tanks, but it's been quite awhile since I've had one. A little over a month ago I got a steal on a 75 gallon bow front. A pair of blood reds were the first fish I got. My 4 year old twin nephews were the ones that actually picked them out at the pet store lol I love them. Everytime I walk through the livingroom I can feel their eyes on me. Got a new fish today and was taking pictures and they were right in front of my camera Everytime I tried taking a picture of the new fish lol
Thank you for sharing your expertise on your fish. I too love nature and and of course God's creativity. There are so many different fish 🐠 and sizes. My favorite are blood parrots fish, tiger barbs clown loach fish. Beautiful combination of colors and shapes. I give you thumbs up. Very informative and so helpful. Keep up the good work. I'll be back for more info. Thank you so kindly..
They definitely grow on you. I would never have bought them but my son did and threw them into one of my 55 gal tanks. I have 2 Blood Parrots with Giant Danios, some Mexican crayfish and an Electric Yellow Lab. My Bloods seem to only pick on each other (one is dominant) and, due to their small mouth, there is never any damage. The sub Parrot gets pushed around a little but will barely even bother to swim away. They can and will eat smaller fish, however.
The head shape is more angled on the males. I know mine is a female because she lays eggs about every three or so weeks. Her name is Gogi and I have a Blue Convict named Min Min with her, they are buddies. Yes, I love Korean Dramas… don’t judge me lol.😜 My fish have become like my children🥰
Thank you!! I went straight to see at the aquarium, seems it's a male!! any suggestion on feeding? I got brine shrimp, I also see on comments it's good too feed cooked peas. I love how beautiful it is and thank 😊 you for your quick response, really appreciate it.👍
@@gladysmontero7186 I am no expert by any means as the gentleman that runs this channel is a fountain of information. I only treat them with brine shrimp and in small amounts. I have heard it can cause bloat and is like candy to them. I feed mini pellets of Hikari brand cichlid food. It is a good food that is nutritious and helps enhance their natural orange color.😃
I love my King Kong Blood Parrot. It’s so cute at first when we got it it was so shy, it was hiding behind a rock, in the store tank. And every few seconds it would pop it’s head out and look at me, then hide again. I fell in love!!! Now at home it comes to the front of the tank when it sees me I love it so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oh no! Unless precocious is smaller! I had a pleco that grew to over a foot long, he was too big for my 40 gallon tank and became aggressive. He killed one of my blood parrots by sucking a gill out! It was horrible to wake up to that. I took the pleco into a large fish specialty store so they could sell him to someone with a larger tank.
Hi just got some Blood Parrots, green mauve, orange. But hardly seen them, hiding all the time. Now my favourite fish. Love this you tube vid. Thank you

I work at a grocery store that sells fish and we have a blood parrot with black marks in the shape of a smile. Its the cutest damn thing and i cant wait to move so i can get a huge tank and save him from the crowded tank hes in now
The black marks are most likely a disease.
Black marks can be normal very young before they get color. It can also mean the fish is stressed
Just purchased my first 2 a few days ago. Mitch and Murray. They are very curious but still very shy.
yes, always hiding in the powerhead filter
I have a grown red one and two toddlers yellow and white .
They awesome and like to interact with you specially when u feed them .
OOMG THEY R BEAUTIFUL FISHES LUV LUV LUV THM !!!
I have six. Use to have 7. They are the reason why I always wanted a larger tank.
My blood parrot is so smart. ❤ I feel bad because all his friends died before I got him but he sure loves me.
Thanks! I wish all videos were this nice to watch!
my boss has a 40 gallon 8 of them in his office, and i in charge of feeding them, they are so friendly and cute
Your video was extremely helpful for me, I'm setting up a 29 gallon tank now .. And I will be the adding the fish in a couple weeks. After watching your video I believe I'm going to downside the number of fish. Ty
Very beautiful,I need them ,I really enjoyed learning from them, thank you for this n knowledge,I'll definitely getting at least 2❤❤
I love the blood parrot very much my son he is only 12 he has his own tank with 2 parrot jack demsay, green terror, they get along well thanks for this video!💕
Shane on anyone who hates a fish, thats messed up, they R beautiful & awesome 🙏 Hybrids are awesome, who cares, natural/hybrid, They are both great.
My favorite fish I’ve ever had. Smart, can go with pretty much any other fish aside from cardinal tetras and hyper aggressive fish like dovii. I’ve had mine with large tetras to a Jack Dempsey and it’s always been the boss.
Wow I have 10 parrots! I didn't know that my oldest is 15 year's old but all my have their tails. I love these fish
I think there's a bit of severum in the Blood Parrot as well. It's not just a plain combination of those two gigantic cichlids.
personally i have such a soft spot for blood parrots. it was the third fish as a fish keeper that i owned and i did really like it... for the short time i had it, i rehomed it to my friend who had a much bigger tank.
one day i will love to get myself one more blood parrot, tho one of my pond buddies dosent like that its a hybrid
i have this fish. when i first bought it, the funny face make me laugh for hours
I love hybrids! Especially cichlid hybrids
We got one from our step father and the blood parrot ALWAYS stares and follows everyone whenever someone passes by the tank. My sister doesn't like him for it because she doesn't like being stared at lol
have 2 bubbles and buttercup and they are my favourite fish in the tank both little characters
My blood parrrot mango is really shy around my mom and sister but when I’m near the tank he comes right out to the front
Thank you for the kind words!
i have saw one of these in my local petsmart aquarium and im just like: woah these guys look so derpy i want them
They definitely grow on you.
I absolutely adore my Parrot Cichlid. She is amazing!❤️
How will you know if is a female or male, I recently got one but don't know the sex?
Terrific video!!! These guys are hybrids but I love their personalities!!! Big kids or goofy geniuses.🤔😁
0:47 them jumping the turtle lol
so cool! Love the video how you put some sort of story behind everything. Thank you! Subscribed!
I am for natural fish! However, I am loving the blood parrots!
I love my polar blue parrots, they're more around the size of convicts since they're hybridized with convicts.
I love my King Kong Blood Parrot. It’s so cute at first when we got it it was so shy, it was hiding behind a rock, in the store tank. And every few seconds it would pop it’s head out and look at me, then hide again. I fell in love!!! Now at home it comes to the front of the tank when it sees me I love it so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
What size it is now?! (presuming you still have it)
@@MakoyUnggoy 🥺🥺😞😞😞 he died
@@Ecstrah That's a pity, will you get any more do you think?
@@MakoyUnggoy maybe 🥹🥹🥹❤️❤️❤️
This video was fantastic! Thank you so much!!
Blood parrots are the best fish I’ve ever owned. Hands down
Mine named Chubs unexpectedly passed away today. He seemed happy yesterday and was eating well. My 55g doesn't look the same. 😞
I’ve got a 40 gallon aquarium and I’m getting a blood parrot with some barbs and a honey gourami
I love blood parrots! Super passives for a cichlids too
Blood parrots are cool, but they are really aggressive, so always keep them with bigger fish like plecos, oscars and midas.
@@max53178 offff, thanks for the advice
Hi just got some Blood Parrots, green mauve, orange. But hardly seen them, hiding all the time.
Now my favourite fish.
Love this you tube vid.
Thank you
Thanks man
Green parrots are almost entirely dyed(with the exception of the muddy green-brownish ones, green crystals, and Kirin...). So are the vibrant purples.
I remembered having blood parrots.
Guess what got strike 4D though not 4 figure but got 3 figures.
Still they are really cute like a child.
Aww I enjoyed this video so much. I have 2 baby blood parrot fish. I love them even more after watching this🥰
