- Onboard race footage from the second round of the 2024 British National MTB XCO points series is upon us, and we headed to Wales to race a brutal course at Margam Park.
With lots of climbing and some super dry hot conditions, it made for a challenging race! I went from hero to zero and absolutely blew up on lap 1 trying to go with the front of the race.
It was an awful race for me but there are always some positives and negatives to take from the weekend, but a lot more work to do.

Had my second sanctioned mountain bike race yesterday and the first was a couple weeks ago. First race Cat 3 1st place.
Second race Cat 2 ,11 th out of 16 and I felt good about that. The race was twice as long as the Cat 3 and the engine doesn’t have the fuel capacity to go full gas for that long yet. Lost a couple positions at the end due to a a couple guys sneaking up behind sprinting at the finish against each other. Dropped my water bottle and had to stop on the second lap to get it. At this point for me it’s a lot of fun because I know I have a lot of room for growth still. Can’t wait to get to XC season next year a lot better trained up. Its addicting.

wow fun looking descent. I'd love to race that course. Tough luck on blowing up. Indeed, pacing will suit you better.
The decent was unfortunately over very quickly and it felt like I spent 1h 30 going up hill 😂
One thing is sure, the worst you finishing position, the better and more entertaining the content. 😂

Flying down the hills, it seemed more like a lap marathon race. Glad you can laugh about it. next year.
I would agree the course was very marathon like, nothing technical just flowing/fast downhills.
