The Golfie rules. Not for the feint of heart, though, but gives you the best feeling in the world when you suss it. Your comment about respecting the trails was spot-on.
@@MindfulTrailBiker As an older biker (50+) I almost sh4t myself when we first saw what people were flying down. 2 years later, I still can't believe our little group fires itself down those trails.
Thanks Ross. I try my best not to let the ego get in the way and show how I struggle with some trails and features and that I’m really ok with that. Its part of mountain biking and I love the fact that there’s always something put of reach. Im a steady rider and prefer to air on the side of safe rather than send and minimise the risk of injury. In my experience recovering from physical injury brings many mental challenges from forced inactivity. The price is often too high. The GoPro sanitation effect on trail videos is really incredible isn’t it.
@@scottsland99 yes dude! Exactly that. I absolutely love being humbled by a trail. In happy to never come close to completing MTB, it’s a lifelong mission! Cheers dude!
I live in Innerleithen and ride Golfie. Found a few folk at the bottom saying not doing that again 😢. Reasonable amount of riding confidence and competency required. Glentress, golfie not graded equally 😢😊. Nice vid.
I think most people have a healthy respect for the difficulty of golfie, the issue would be that the GoPro footage makes it look super easy and it just isn’t! I have done a few other edits in the area that are better starting points and a beginner guide to golfie that has sensible track progression and a squirrel catcher to prevent people biting off more than they can chew. Thank you 🙏
@@MTB_Trekker 100% Shame about tweedlove events, hopefully that won’t have to much of an impact on the community or will be replaced with other events that keep riders visiting in the numbers they’ve become accustomed to. 👍
Great video. I’ve only ridden the Golfie once and agree that all trails demand respect. Promised myself I wouldn’t go back until I get an ebike though as that climb to the top is a bugger on a normal bike 😂
Cheers Ross! Much appreciated. Yeah it can be a bit of a slog and is defo multi-lappable in and eeb for sure. That was my first golfie day in an e-bike and was novel to be tired by the descending more than the climbing!
I cud neva afford an Ebike tbh plus I can't get a lift to scotland. Always good watchin ppl ridin all the fantastic trails up there tho bro . GREAT VID BRUV
@@MindfulTrailBiker I rode it for the first time a couple of months ago and managed to get down feet up all the way. i'm 65 and still getting that buzz. Another couple of runs and you'll have it sorted. I followed someone down too which probably made it a bit easier.

Absolutely. You feel amazing when you string together a good run without dabbing. Perfect progression to be had!
Cheers Paul 🙏🙌

It’s such a beautiful sport and gives so much to those brave enough to dive in! ❤️
Great to see some honest clips of how hard some of these trails are.
Really appreciate seeing the stopping and having a word with yourself.

Tried Underdog recently for the first time and it was a humbling experiencing! Which is no bad thing. Nice video.

Ah ma, great video! Good on you for doing commentary on some of those trails. 🤙🏽
Thanks Nathan! I think it helps sometimes to be honest, like singing adopted by some of the group 😂
Can't wait to get up there again! Think you're spot on about the community there. Everything is geared towards mtbers, and they're so friendly too.

@@MindfulTrailBiker Oh most definitely even more so on my Kona 😂😂😂😂
I spent most of my time on Underdog on my arse ! terrifying in the wet. The camera really doesn't show how steep that trail is does it 😵
No it really doesn’t 🙈 fair play for even attempting that in the wet, must have been sketchy as hell 😂
@@MindfulTrailBiker yep, the ground was so slick. I should really have watched a video of the trail beforehand 🤦
I saw one just after it was built, made it look easy as pie 😂 probably the builder

@@bruce.KAY-bike-drifter hey Bruce. No need to apologise! Whatever you’re riding I’m sure you have a smile on your face and that’s all that matters! 👍
Glentress and even Cademuir offer easier options. Hire an ebike if you don't have one and just enjoy going up.
Great watch, but never EVER doing that.
Glad you enjoyed it!
