As fun as this movie was, it just could NOT decide on a plot. At first it was about a fish out of water story for the family, then it was about a mentor story with Gru and the nabor kid, then it was a new parent bonding story, with a Marvel parody B plot sprinkled throughout. Very all over the place.

I finally watched the movie last night on Fandango. Fave scene is with Poppy and her cat playing DDR. Had ti replay it 3 times. Also loved the end where you saw all the other villians from the other movies
Pretty sure he was closer to 8. After all, the time we see him before that is holding his mom's hand at villain con. Not a lot of 11 year Olds hold moms hand while fanfesting over their favorites.
This is literally one of the funniest movies ever. The superpowers scenes had me in stiches in the theaters with my daughter. The memories I'm building, I love this stuff so much. Also, roaches cannot survive a nuclear blast. That's an insane myth. They don't have some sort of sheild against the power of the sun. Quite the contrary as they need moisture to survive. They are nocturnal insects, like most. they do thrive in warm environments minus the oriental roach. But too much will roast them like any other living being or organism. A nuclear blast whipes away life and does unrecognizable damage to the environment.
The ending to this movie is what does it for me ❤️ seeing EVERY character from the previous movies singing along together to “Nothing Ever Lasts Forever”, heavily implying that this could be a goodbye to the franchise 🥲 I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the Despicable Me franchise 🍌
Even though this movie is kinda stupid, a downgrade from the rest- I LOVE that it’s technically the unofficial battle between Megamind and Gru we’ve always wanted.
Well! This was a fun movie! Pixar’s Jack-Jack + DreamWorks’ Boss Baby = Gru Jr. But best of all: The callbacks to past villains Gru defeated! Every one of them appearing in orange jumpsuits, minus Vector. He’s all set because of his already orange power suit!
Interesting to note: Voice acting great Tara Strong keeps her momentum going by voicing Gru Jr. She really has a knack in voicing a wide array of characters from adults to even babies. It’s her edge.
The only thing that took me out with this film, is the different voice actor for Agnus, it was really distracting to me (not that the replacement did a bad job, it was just a noticeable difference in tone for me). Aside for that, I really enjoyed it! Very fun film!

For those that don’t know facts about Despicable Me 4 behind the scenes, take it from an autistic cartoon fan who has seen a lot of DM (Despicable Me). Obviously, yeah, Kristen Wiig was there a lot, but before she was Lucy, she’s Miss Hattie. Stephen Colbert wasn’t there for the first three movies. Whichever one of you two reactors that said Steven Spielberg directed DM 3, incorrect . Pierre Coffin directed the first three movies including DM 3. As for Chris Renaud, he directed with Pierre in the first two films, then became executive producer for the third film, and for some reason, he came back as the director for the fourth.
The trivia about the name isn't entirely true tho. It translates more to "super bad," although technically it doesn't translate to anything as it's not a German word or phrase or anything. In German it doesn't makes sense at all, it just sounds very irritating, especially as name😅
I will give the movie this, at least it didn’t have the villain repeat its catchphrase over and over again to the point where it becomes annoying, I’m looking at you, Despicable Me 3.
Unfortunately 4 is absolutely my least favorite. Most of the interactions bog it down, and the whole Minion 'arc' is... more nonsensical than usual. I don't like that they completely ignore the ending from 3, Gru outing himself as AVL at the reunion, and the ending just falls flat (with Gru just... giving up?) And with all of that, the 'victory lap' ending is undeserved.
One of the weakest ones of the franchise for me that has funny moments and the ending is great. I'm thinking they should end the franchise here and i know they're doing Minions 3 but they should end the Despicable Me series here.
