- עטור מצחך (זהב שחור) - Atur Mitzchech (Zahav Shahor)
has been voted several times as the best loved Israeli song ever.
The poet and actor Avraham Halfi wrote the lyrics in the 1950's, describing deep love which may or may not be realized.
Some 20 years later the poem was composed by the great Yoni Rechter, and recorded by Arik Einstein with the young Yehudit Ravitz and Corinne Alal.
(This is the first version from 1977; the song was recorded again later in 1988 for an Arik Einstein album dedicated to Halfi's songs).

Wow, I'm Arab and was just blown away by this piece of music. Hebrew sounds beautiful, I'd love to learn it.
The beauty of this song makes me speechless, it is really a masterpiece
I accidentally stumbled upon this masterpiece when I was googling my name and I'm upset I never heard it before now.
Every time amazes me, I LOVE this song. Such beauty, such poetry with great singers. Ohh, Arik Einstein, I love you.
This love poem was written by Avraham Chalfi, in secret, about the wife of a friend and co-actor in the Cameri Theatre Company in Tel Aviv. After he died (by that time, the song became one of the most beloved contemporary Hebrew songs), the truth about the song was made public. The woman that he wrote the poem for requested that it be engraved on her headstone, uopn her death...❤

What a legend may he rest in peace.
I love how the women beside him harmonize beautifully with Arik singing this beautiful song and its beautiful lyrics !
Chagit Yasso sings this masterfully. She is a brilliant vocalist.
תודה על המילים באנגלית. אני יכול לדבר עברית ולקרוא אבל שירים כזו הם הרבה קשים בשבילי להבין. תודה!
בבקשה!
So gentle and touching
Beautiful song and excellent translation toda!
Toda Yoni!
Wow , really a very nice love song . Nice translation too
Sa voix me fait penser à un chanteur français d’origine américaine, Joe Dassin.
In his erly career, Arik Einstein was indeed influenced by the French Chansonniers of the 1950s.
Me too, touches my soul..
A beautiful translation. I would only use "brow" which us more lyrical instead of "forehead".
Thank you! My English is not at native level so I wouldn't know that. It''s surely a difficult poem to translate.
la voix d'arik me bouleverse.
yafé 💙👍
What if Arik Einstein Narrated Hebrew Dub Of Thomas & Friends And Then He Would Been Hebrew Counterpart Of Ringo Starr
Doe's Anybody know if the piano man in this video is Yoni Rechter?
Interesting question. From what I can find on the Web it says that Rechter was playing the piano in the recording of this song, but the man in the video doesn't look like him at all. This is how he used to look around those years: ruclips.net/video/9v81qUNSjbE/видео.html
I have to do a project on this guy.. He seems pretty good :)
update: my teacher slapped me because i said i liked this one better than ani v'ata
@@isaacherskovitz3276 That is outrageous!!!
@@isaacherskovitz3276 no way he did that
yo thanks for the update 3 years later
VEN VEN MI AMADO Y NO TARDES MAS. EL DIA APENAS COMIENZA EN NUESTRO FIRMAMENTO Y LAS NUBES DE NUESTRAS TORMENTAS SE HAN DICIPADO, Y EL SOL REFLEJA EN NUESTRO ARCOIRIS DESTELLOS DE LUZ CELESTIAL DEL AMOR DE DIOS QUE NOS DA SU BENDICION PARA VIVIR NUESTRO AMOR EN SU AMOR Y COMUNION. ALVARO, NO SE MAS DE TI, SOLO QUE TE MARCHASTE DE REGRESO A TU PAIS, YISRAEL, A CUIDAR DE TU ESPOSA...................................................Y YO EN MI MUNDO, IGUAL QUE TU, SOÑANDO TAL VEZ CON NUESTRO REENCUENTRO
Am Ysrael Ahava Chai
The melody is haunting and the voices are incredible, but perhaps it is better to not understand the Hebrew. Most Israelis roll their eyes at the bad lyrics.
Huh? The lyrics are sheer poetry.
One of the most beautiful and poignant love poem, written for the wife of a close friend that Halfi was secretly in love with.
Zeh lo nachon, there are two of us right here who think the poetry's gorgeous.
It's beautiful and rich high Hebrew. As far as I know, not even one of my friends (myself included) ever rolled their eyes on it.
I don't know Hebrew well enough to judge it's quality, but over the years I have heard lots of native speakers say that the lyrics are bad. Maybe they just don't have taste. Myself, I love the song.
