I’m voting for your daughter on this. I like her overall color scheme. I think they flow well together. I love your model, but I would like to see the purple tie in more.
My son started painting Space Marines few months ago with me. He calls them Space Robots. It is so much fun to paint with your children and I hope he continues painting minis.
"Watch out where the huskies go, don't you eat that yellow snow!"--Frank Zappa Both look good, and I don't mind the cheesecake factor with your ork, because the sculpt is great and she looks nice and savage. Good work, y'all!
Hey Don, just want to say good on you for involving your kids in your hobbies, I think that's good parenting right there. Also good on them for sharing your passion for modeling (especially Nico - her mad skills of customizing gunpla at her age are way above what I could manage now at 40 lol). When I have kids of my own, I'd want to share my love for gunpla with them too! ♥️ Edit: I know that it's a completely different universe altogether, but Warcraft has reddish orcs so Nico's color choice kinda maybe counts haha.
Sorry Don Both looks amazing. Its a hard choice, love the details on your paint work and it speaks volumes to your experience, but her orc has a more simple and unique look. At the end I would go for the simple and unique look so i suppose she got the win. LOL on another note kinda unfair as they arent the same orcs, would love to see both your work and her work on same figure.
Is all the “reactivation” criticism a non issue if not thinning with water? They changed the whole formula because of it. Was it an issue you noticed? Or can you paint right over it with Merlin’s medium?
Honestly, I am trying hard to notice the reactivation. But since I adapted my “oil painting process” of letting the paints cure overnight and giving the mini a quick matte varnish, I do not experience reactivation of course. However, I am looking forward to playing with the reactivation property, once I have the Speed paints 2.0. Meaning will use the 1.0 on top for glazing and blending. And yes, the awesome Merlins Medium worked with these paints! So happy man! 😊🎨🎨🎨

You’re right! Next time we’ll paint the same exact miniature! Thanks for watching! 😊
