Hahahahaha, lol. But I have to dissapoint you, guys. I think he was referring to the weed. (I looked it up on urban dictionary) But it could, ofcourse, be a double entendre. A lot of the things Kevin says (also in part 3) have a double meaning/layer to it.
"You like the water? I'm going to introduce you to this fire" -Kevin to Chrion This quote serves as a double entendre While Kevin was supposedly talking about the weed in the blunt, let' remember how much water helps to represent Chiron. Kevin saying he was going to introduce "fire" to water was a comment on Kevin introducing himself to Chiron & also introducing Chiron to himself. The dialogue on this movie is perfect. Furthermore, water & fire are perfect opposites & you know what they say about opposites attracting...
Love this movie... Just now seen it.... I feel Kevin was seducing chiron.... He was also gentle and didn't degrade him after.... That's what I loved... Kevin loved him for him.... He seen right thru him and it was beautiful 😍💓

@@mimirobin That's why I think they should have. Chiron deserved happiness and understanding from a peer. The only place he got that was from Juan and Theresa. He thought he was alone in his feelings about being gay.
@@Ravenbabe321 true. But I think they choose to portray it this way because that's exactly how many people in Chiron's/Blacks situation feel. Making a happy ending wouldve maybe obscured how difficult it still is for black gay men to be themselves. But I totally understand why you like to see it, I think anyone would love to see Chiron happy
My interpretation is that it this scene is supposed to be uncomfortable. Not only is it “young love” awkward, but it is from the perspective of how black gay men are viewed. Black men are so hyper-masculinized in society, by the black community especially, it almost feels like it isn’t right for two black men to be intimate.
@@Retainafricanwealth more so the “sex scene” is what I’m referring to in part 2. But you I hope you get to watch the film it’s really well shot and directed.
The moment at the beginning of the clip, with the trains, it makes me think of escape. Taking one last departure to somewhere far away…away from all the pain of life or one’s current circumstances
I can see why Kevin is attracted to Chiron he's tall handsome and mysterious because he doesn't speak much makes him intriguing. When you do get know him just want to love him.
It’s Ajok To look at the moon. It was a reminder to the audience of the saying: "in the moonlight black boys look blue." They are under the moon, swathed in blue (which symbolizes Chirons vulnerability) and so us the audience realizes something significant is about to happen. Them looking at the moon at the same time also symbolizes how they are one in that moment and alludes to the scene that follows.

Kevin was lowkey hurt when he thought Chiron didn't like his nickname.

It meant something to him to give him that name it was his slick way of saying I like you without telling him
