Been using pegasus for years on my shield tv and phone. Definitely my favorite frontend. Game os is a great theme too
yeah if you can get over the set up process then its a dream to run on i wish there were more themes but i cant complain with te ones that are on offer to be honest.
Pegasus for it's look and DIG for it's ease of use. Honestly I think DIG needs to improve on it's look and add more artwork options.
Yeah I'd agree there both have pros and cons to be honest.
And also depends what system your using these on
I have DIG on my Nvidia Shield, but the video previews never load for each game?
It just shows a spinning circle and they never start doing a vid preview or anything. I have it set to show videos too. I can change it over to screenshots instead and those appear on the game's page, but never the videos. Any idea what is happening?
Maybe your network on the device have you downloaded the latest version ?
@@MoreTechSir Yeah I check the play store for updates every time I turn my Shield on daily
Great video, I'm using DIG and I have a Samsung S21 Ultra phone attached to my external hard drive. I tried to redirect my path to the external HD but it doesnt show up when I do a manual rom search. When I go to "My Files" it recognizes it and sees the External HD. What do I need to do to run Dig off my external hard drive.
Yeah dig is such a good frontend a really love the temes it has to offer. I beleive the front end would need to be installed on the phone. have you changed directory were apps are installed on the phone? change this re install dig which will be on your hardrive and that should solve the problem sir, if not just give us a shout. We can troubleshoot.
hmm I haven't tried hard drive but sd card on s10 lote works fine for me
I haven't tried Pegasus yet, but I just recently tried out Dig. I can't successfully launch any games from it. I've tried the default cores and tried changing to different cores, but every time I try to launch a game, I get a black screen and have to force close everything. I can manually launch games from Retroarch without issue, but whenever I try from Dig, I get the Black screen.
What version of dig are you using.. and this happens when certain cores on retroarch don't like to play (compatabilty issues) have you tried changing the core in dig so it launches a different emulator ?
Great advice
Pegasus looks good! But currently I love RESET collection, the interface is fantastic, and I like that it can autoplay video files.
yeah you can also do this on pegasus but its not as straight forward as RESET, which is why i like it so much.
I love reset collection as well...........but I wish they had more than 1 theme
Yeah it would be nice am not sure if this is coming in a update soon.
I use DIG and it's good and all but not very seamless with using standalone emulators. For example, when using it with M64 Plus FZ it won't load into the game but rather open the emulator itself with a "failed to read rom" error. I know the emulator itself works and so do the roms. It's only when trying to load from DIG. However, when using an N64 core in RetroArch via DIG it loads fine. Also when using Redream it just loads into the emulator on the library screen.
Yeah that's the only problem with some frontends that not fully compatible with certain emulators 🤦. You would think they would be .. have you tried reset collection at all?
@@MoreTechSir No I haven't. How does it compare to dig as far as setup?
I prefer it to dig as its straight to the point and the library is alot cleaner
It's more difficult but worth it and it's so cleaned and fresh with video previews
Is there a frontend with all
The games in the same
Category?
Daijishou looks nice but you have to select a system and you have visible “edit” buttons. And can move to
The widgets and etc. I just need the entire collection in one screen. Simple, for kids use.
Try reset collection that's pretty straightforward and easy on the eyes.
Do either let you connect up to retro achievements?
there is no connection to do this but its just a frontend so basically it wouuld still work as your using retroarch with achivments as the backend
Dig keeps saying it needs my Retroarch Cores. They are all installed and the game boot fine but when exiting it says I still need the CORE and DIG asks me to relaunch retroarch to download the CORE. Which I have all the cores in LOAD CORE. I am using older Android 4.1.1 and Retroarch 1.83. Anyi ideas?
which core is it asking for> and what emulation. this could be due to the version of retroarch .
@@MoreTechSir SNES9x2010 or snes9x. Im starting simple....anyways UPDATE @Emulation Dojo im using Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Old phone. I ended up trying Retroarch 32bit and I set DIG settings to Retroarch32bit. I heard 32bit might fix it. I also got updated Retroarch 1.9.1 and latest DIG. Everything seems to work except DIG keeps asking for a CORE to redownload when exiting the ROM. 32Bit version did not help. It helped me be more updated but not fixing this missing CORE issue. I have the darn cores, i know retroarch good enough. Made some playlists and still DIG keeps asking to redownload a core every time.
@@MrMoviemashup it seems to be a common theme with dig and RA not connecting correctly, I've ran into this before have you tried reset collection or Pegasus?
@@MoreTechSir problem still persists. I've tried all those other front end but its for newer versions of android. Arcbrowser works still but image scrapper is botched so forget that. So for now im just using retroarch standalone with playlist scrapped. Thanks again
No problem, yeah i understand the frontends software are not the best at times. But I would recommend pegasus for sure
Dig because its the easiest to setup and i love the themes
Yeah the tmeem are awesome so many to choose from which one are you rocking currently?
I wanna say DIG but so many frustrations with the inability to launch certain Standalone emulators such as Aethersx2 and Citra Enhanced, and the preview pane is broken and has been for some time at least for me. Video playback doesn't work.
I'd recommend the reset collection. It's lightweight but has everything you need and supports aethersx2 ruclips.net/video/7ImKGB_rWKw/видео.html
@@MoreTechSir I wish it worked with aethersx2 I tried many different ways with it putting my games on my internal and external storage.
@@TheCrispyChip have you tried reset collection?
@@MoreTechSir Yes that's what I was saying. I bought reset and disn remind it but it isn't as snappy as it advertises. It also didn't launch aethersx2 at all for me
Hmm it should launch it fine have you made sure the config files are correct I believe it's on the faq page. As you need to config it to work. do you use discord?
I would highly recommend signing into there page it will help trouble shoot. Of you haven't got the link I can fire it over
You should do a vs Lemuroid update. Which is the best.
I mite have to indead
please tutorial pegasus frontend
I guess I should try Pegasus because Dig can't find my NES folder at all for some reason.
hmmm really ive you tried to rescan and se if that helps?
1 , Select all systems tab. Click on nes, click manage system, click roms. Locate the folder yourself 👍
@@westleyjohnstone4719 cheers for the helping in hand 👍🏻
Scraping multi disc games is a pain! I made .m3u files for all games that use CDs (PS, Dreamcast, Saturn) and I just scan and scrape the m3u file. Just scan for m3u files, no chd, bin, cue!
Yeah this is a great way to compress and save time for sure
Reset collection is another
totally i did a sperate video on that, i love reset collection
Pegasus all the way. Better than reset also
I think they all have a place in the market, for sure just depends how deep you want to go into frontends really.
Reset Collection seems aimed at same people who like ClassicBoy... I'd rather use Retroarch, or standalone apps. Glad to hear Reset really isn't worth it, as I figured.
@@willhe5564 i wouldnt say reset isnt worth it i really like it i think its carterd to user who just want hte pick up and play experience with a device if am honest.
@@MoreTechSir I may be more partial, and appreciative toward DIG, Batocera, Pegasus, or what.. DIG I have used for years, and really has gotten better, allowing .mp4s and background music, some real beautiful themes have been created. I don't think Reset or ClassicBoy leaves much in line for customization, so it is great for "plug n play" or install n play results, I just spend hours fixing things to my liking, trying to build some "dream console" I may have imagined 20+ years ago.
Same as with most games with customization efforts (Fire Pro Wrestling), I likely spend more time creating and editing any number of things, before finally starting the game.
So yeah, jumping in, it may be more enjoyable than the base of Retroarch, DIG, or etc., but I'm not sure if it was monthly charging or not. Paying developers for their work is okay too, but largely the free software takes off, in that experts can help newbies, and gets a larger installed base... So there's pros and cons.
Time is money (to some people), so I understand why it's justified to pay instead of tweaking DIG, when it doesn't exactly do everything right the first time.
@@willhe5564 am there with you regarding to setting up and making the console perfect. i find i will do this and then just have no engery to even botot up a game and go.
Rest is only a one of few but the frontends that charger a monthly subscription they need to be the bees knees in my eyes . Other wise as you rightful said your paying for nothing and you could get a front end for free that wors just as good or better. Reset is new to the sign so it will be nice to see whatr will happen in the future. I the markets wide open i always so so will be nice to see what developments come from all frontends in the next year.
I like arc browser still.
Nice have you tried the others out?
I liked dig, but when launchbox gets bigbox for android I will put in the time to convert everything over.
@@sixstrng i hear you there
So which is your favourite frontend??
👉👉Free frontends ruclips.net/user/moretechsir
I love DIG, always recommend it, and the Random selection really helps!! Collections are fun to build, genres are helpful for whittling down what you're in the mood for.. You're right for saying it reads files oddly sometimes. Having bios files somehow wind up in say Fairchild F listings, or Wild Arms in PS2... Takes some time and effort, but I appreciate every one's work in making DIG better. Always improving, and can even tinker with it yourself, adding your own music or backgrounds you prefer.
Pegasus I have to try!! Looks very nice... Recently purchased a new Android TV Box, so good time to weigh pros and cons, or see which works better -- even Emuelec, and Batocera may be valid options.
Thanks for the recommendation, I haven't heard of Pegasus yet, but it looks great, nice that you can choose what sort of images/videos you scrape.
Cheers & have a good day!!
@@willhe5564 yeah dig is a great frontend it does have problems but what frontend doesnt, theres so much tinkering you can do with it. I really reccoomend looking into pegasus it does take alot more time to set up but its well worth it aswell and the scraping system is second to none. Glad i could help you along your journey sir. Yeah i need to test emulec out i just wish it could be ported to retroid pocket 2. let me know how you get on with it on the new android box.
@@MoreTechSir They've come a long way, but the Android 4.4 boxes still run smoothly too, comes to user experience. I've got lots to learn about the X88 Pro (running Android 10), the default UI is alright, but TV Launcher is a great Home Launcher. I can't figure out how to access basic Android settings though, such for Developer Options and setting a default Home Launcher. Other than that, it's well powered, and syncs quickly altogether (bluetooth controllers, fast RAM).
RaspberryPi I need more time to deal with, or takes more care than I can afford at the moment, so Android options are always great, and easier to work with. My learning Linux and etc. I been procrastinating on.
Thanks for the reply too, I'm still thinking of how to make a new channel, one to adhere with current internet atmosphere, and still have fun with it too. Not sure if algorithms strike claims on Ukelele covers, or kazoo covers when in absolute doubt. 😂 Nintendo has certainly not changed much. Fair Use must be preserved though!!
@@willhe5564 yeah i understand i wish i had time to just sit an dtinker all day but i dont, got to go out and bring the bacon home. dev options normally work when you click on the bulid number 7 times this unlocks the hidden feature. i have a pi2 b but its just sat in a box i really should do something with it again time .. never have that. Hopefully when i start making passive income ill have alot more time. Hey starting a chan sounds great i started from nothing i really need to be more consistant though if am honest.
Pegasus hands down no question.
Can you do a tutorial on pegasus?
I'll make it the next video, what would you like to see in it? How to installon the rp2?
@@MoreTechSir on the smartphone, please 🖖
You would like a tutorial for dig and Pegasus on the mobile
Retro
yes indeed
Wish Dig would recognize CHD's for PS2
Try reset collection this recognises CHD and it's a whole lot better in my eyes
ruclips.net/video/7ImKGB_rWKw/видео.html
They all 2 suck. I cant figure out how to add games on pegasus and dig takes long time to scan my collection
Bad editing. Why blur it out?
This hurt so bad am crying
Better Pegasus !
There's a few new front ends I need to put them all to the test
