Barn owls have heart-shaped faces, like Melisandre I'm stuck in the Macbeth angle I think their going for with Daemon and Alys. The Wayward Sister. Aemond says she sees things in the fires and in storm clouds - "When shall we three meet again? In thunder, lightning or in rain? When the hurly-burlys done. When the battles lost and won." "Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none" - Daemon and his sons. Edit: and you pull out a Macbeth quote of your own at the end. Hell yeah girl! Same wavelength!
She’s also said to Bathe in blood like Sheira Seastar who also has a heart shaped face, but in the books she’s way more like Melisandre than anyone IMO

10:06 “Maya liked to say that her father had been a goat and her mother an owl” If Alice is an owl, wasn’t there also a random goat wandering around Herrenhal? How does this tie into the Owl that Aegon hacked to pieces?
Owl drawings, caves, occult shenanigans. I'm getting plenty of Twin Peaks vibes. Maybe Alys is from House Blacklodge. She makes damn fine weirwood paste.
Girl u are crazy into this lore!! But it’s so intriguing. For me it’s just difficult to accept that GRRM put this much thought into his works only to get stuck after writing a Dance… maybe u should help him lol
There is no actual proof that Bran went to the past and he was the one that would become "Bran the builder" that would effect so many historical events, there is no confirmation on that theory.
Just came here to say that you’re a genius and a legend. Thank you for all of your thoughtful analysis and engaging delivery! You create connections that I haven’t seen anyone else make, and I can’t get enough. 🙏
Alys rivers is gonna find daemon after the battle of the gods eye and turn him into the night king we know from our show. Danny's fire doesn't hurt him and he smiles just like I imagine daemon would, the cats paw dagger kills him because it had rhyneras blood on it from when alicent cut her, and daemon and rhynera cut their hands when they were married. The night kings crown looks like the crown of the step stones. I know this is a long shot but I would love it. And for the people who say we seen the children of the forest create the night king on the original show, I'll remind you that was the first night king and it also only shows his eyes turn blue, not him turning into the actual same night king. The old night kind was killed by the last light bringer. Daemon is the new night king and spends the next 170 years preparing for the long night.
I was thinking he would be from his first appearance as Daemon this show. And I haven't read any of the books yet (though I have heard things over the years on RUclips). Anyway, there's something about Daemon that has always felt heavy, deeper. That there's more for him than this -- Daemon's life. As complicated, tormented, and eventful as his life has been, it's only a fraction of the whole. ..If it comes to pass, I don't think he'll necessarily be happy about it. Something taken from you yet again, and "having to do what you were 'born' to do" again, but for far longer than a regular lifespan. I'd imagine it'd feel like being damned. Bitterness and rage -- assuming there's anything of Daemon left. Or they could simply kill him off in an epic dragon battle without it tying into anything beyond the Dance. That would be disappointing though.
Exactly! And let’s remember how easily and like a pro a Night King rode dead Viserion (after turning him) and batted with him - as of he done it many times before
SO MANY times, you point out things I never would've made connections too before. The Alys-owl is something I never would have connected with a vision that Helaena had. My mind is absolutely blown! I subscribe to a lot of asoiaf content creators on RUclips and your videos are my favs❤❤
As always you find the connections! Love what you do, and I've missed you calling us the summer children lol About Halena I think her apology to her mother is for her starting this war. Maybe all the deaths etc as well but mostly she forgives her for misinterpreting the King's last words, and everything that has happened since.
What if she's forgiving her for something else Alicent will do in the future? Or what if Alicent's dying words (to anyone or the gods) are "Forgive me"..? (I have no clue if/how she does BTW. I'm still on the fence about reading F&B soon or after the series ends)
@@brooke5258 No way! You already picked it up? That's kinda wild and exciting for me lol. The first book is definitely the worst, because it was written 10yrs before the rest of the series. I didn't really use outside resources but I've since learned there are lots, like the Tor readalong or the Ten Very Big Books podcast. Hope they help!
I miss the days of you, Kyle's Fookin' Chickens, and Secrets of the Citadel doing videos together... A Song of Ice and Fire was banned from the institution I was in and couldn't reread the series while doing my time. Then, in the inmate library, I found the short story collections that featured all of the stories of the Dance of Dragons as well as the Dunk and Egg books. Gosh that was almost 7 years ago lol
Elenai is a derivative of Helena, meaning “torch” or possibly “moon”. An interesting link between Helena and Alys. Although Alys and her paste makes me think of Alice in wonderland, or more like Horrorland😮
I came here to say I’m all in on this theory that Daemon is a Bran predecessor. I was just watching a video where someone explained how you have to feed the tree for the Old Gods, and then thought about how they made a point to show how the dragon’s blood rains down- and how much blood there would be with two dragons killed above the Gods Eye…
I love this deep dive! I hope she did come from the first men/stormlands as the green witch💚 As long as she keeps her paws off Rhaenyra’s man that’s all I know, other than that… I absolutely love her and i’m OBSESSED. The best witchy vibes 🌙 Loving Daemons harrenhal arc and the lore we’re exploring so far.

It's Larys. He's doing all of it.
I did pick up on those words!! Not quite sure what he meant, besides the lore of the ghosts of Harenall, and the place being unsettling with blood in the stones, etc., would have an effect on Daemon. I hadn’t put it together that HE might actually be doing something, but what you’re saying makes sense…
When she said she was a barn owl, I was going "WARG!!!". Which is not out of place. I missed the weirwood paste, but I did think " what the hell is she giving him?". When I say missed, I meant the term weirwood paste. Still though, I kinda like Alys. That accent slays me!
The actress portraying Alys Rivers delivers an outstanding performance, skillfully embodying the character with depth and nuance. Her ability to match Matt Smith’s on-screen presence is particularly impressive, showcasing her talent and elevating their scenes together. Her portrayal of the mysterious, magical, and eerie witch is captivating, making her a breakout star and a standout in the series.

When the hurly-burlys done. When the battles lost and won."
"Thou shalt get kings, though thou be none" - Daemon and his sons.
Edit: and you pull out a Macbeth quote of your own at the end. Hell yeah girl! Same wavelength!
She’s also said to Bathe in blood like Sheira Seastar who also has a heart shaped face, but in the books she’s way more like Melisandre than anyone IMO
Gray is cooking and I'm loving it!! 😁
Isn't Rhaenyra's hand maiden called Elinda Massey? There was a preview of Elinda walking among the small folk wearing a red cloak. Red Woman vibes? 🤔
I am GEEKING out with you putting all this together because its like YESSSS! HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS BEFORE?!❤
Getting your takes on the magic lore in HOTD every week has quickly become one of my favorite things about the show being on air tbh
I immediately thought of Grey when I saw her making that Weirwood paste 😂
🐐 I need you on those after episode breakdowns!
Grey, you are the Sherlock Holmes of Westeros!!!! So interesting!!!
History rhymes... That song of Ice and Fire on repeat!
The Green Queen? Appropriate 💚 👑
Ha!
I can’t seem to get enough of this kind of content lately 🐉and just wanted to say your videos are so good, thanks so much! ❤
I love how your mind works I can look at something a million times and you can look at it once and pick out things that I missed you are exciting to listen to I love your channel too , I thoroughly enjoyed , you give me chills 🙏
You bring the best content! You always find the connections that others don't. Very well done!
This is my first video. I really enjoyed your delivery, like listening to a friend. “Raven friend? Come on man!” 😂
This is an amazing breakdown of lore! This is PHD level lore ooooooweee 🔥
I discovered your channel last week and now i can't get enough of your breakdowns and analysis
Im convinced working on HOTD has helped GRRM figure out how he wants to finish the books up.
That is not a drawing of a stag with a crown, it's a red eyed wolf, i.e. Ghost, wearing a crown, i.e. Jon Snow.
Her saying that really goes a step further to tying that picture to the Rat King Larys
That’s Wierwood shrooms with a side of ‘someone’s blood’ she had for him and dang, it works really good!
great insight and I think you are right!
10:06 “Maya liked to say that her father had been a goat and her mother an owl”
If Alice is an owl, wasn’t there also a random goat wandering around Herrenhal?
How does this tie into the Owl that Aegon hacked to pieces?
There totally was!
Owl drawings, caves, occult shenanigans. I'm getting plenty of Twin Peaks vibes. Maybe Alys is from House Blacklodge. She makes damn fine weirwood paste.
omg you have such a beautiful voice, perfect for reading. If you record yourself reading the books I would listen to everythinggg🤩🤩
Girl u are crazy into this lore!! But it’s so intriguing. For me it’s just difficult to accept that GRRM put this much thought into his works only to get stuck after writing a Dance… maybe u should help him lol
Holy fk, the casual drop of time travelling Bran. Told what to do by a boy that would grow to become Bran the Builder? 🤔
There is no actual proof that Bran went to the past and he was the one that would become "Bran the builder" that would effect so many historical events, there is no confirmation on that theory.
*facepalms*
More than being excited about the new season of HOTD. I love these videos Gray Area's voice is ASMR
YAS! In the preview for episode 5 Alys says to Daemon “Yoh we’re meant (or was it born) to wear a crown”.
You’re right! He’s the next Night King.
Exactly! And let’s remember how easily and like a pro a Night King rode dead Viserion (after turning him) and batted with him - as of he done it many times before
You are definitely the most extra Ice and Fire creator and i'm so here for it
SO MANY times, you point out things I never would've made connections too before. The Alys-owl is something I never would have connected with a vision that Helaena had. My mind is absolutely blown! I subscribe to a lot of asoiaf content creators on RUclips and your videos are my favs❤❤
You brought the goods Grey! I am convinced you did indeed crack the code.
As always you find the connections! Love what you do, and I've missed you calling us the summer children lol About Halena I think her apology to her mother is for her starting this war. Maybe all the deaths etc as well but mostly she forgives her for misinterpreting the King's last words, and everything that has happened since.
Great catch!
What if she's forgiving her for something else Alicent will do in the future? Or what if Alicent's dying words (to anyone or the gods) are "Forgive me"..?
(I have no clue if/how she does BTW. I'm still on the fence about reading F&B soon or after the series ends)
GRRM has layers upon layers of lore. I'm always learning something new. Keep it coming!!
Try reading Malazan Book of the Fallen! You'll love it ❤
his Muse does
@@BooksRebound thanks for the rec. I decided to give it a try. It's dense, but I'm enjoying finding resources to understand it all.
Loving the JUICE!!
Join me in saying Grey Area is the best Female HOD/GOT presenter ❤🎉❤
New follower. Good shit! Gonna be on your channel for a bit today. Thanks for putting your time and passion into these great videos!👍🙏🙏🙏
You’re a nerd. I like it. First time watching. Cool vid!
Love your videos! Always my go to for the analysis of the lore and 🍵.
This makes me want to revisit your videos featuring Maester Aemon.
I hope we see more Rainwood than just Arianne's one epic TWOW chapter. Also "Rain House" is such a cool name
Excellent insight. Well thought out.
Oh... Gray Area just managed to blow my mind again.
What is Alys up to? She is playing both sides against eachother that's what she does... And perhaps all the Strongs...
Gray's outdone herself this season 👏
I love this deep dive! I hope she did come from the first men/stormlands as the green witch💚
As long as she keeps her paws off Rhaenyra’s man that’s all I know, other than that… I absolutely love her and i’m OBSESSED. The best witchy vibes 🌙 Loving Daemons harrenhal arc and the lore we’re exploring so far.
I appreciate the attention
Am I the only person that viewed that entire scene and thought Daemon hallucinated the entire thing and then snapped out of the vision in the middle of his meeting with Lords Strong and Blackwood? Watch the scene again. It's just him checking out in the middle of the day. I'm not saying weirwood magic isn't involved, I just think it's Larys Strong doing it. Listen to what he said at the council meeting, about Daemon's taking of Harrenhal being useful to their cause because all his energy would be sucked out by the castle as he slowly unravels.
You're so rad, ma'am! Between Kevin from The Batt Productions and your channel, the lore is STRONG!❤
When she said she was a barn owl, I was going "WARG!!!". Which is not out of place. I missed the weirwood paste, but I did think " what the hell is she giving him?". When I say missed, I meant the term weirwood paste. Still though, I kinda like Alys. That accent slays me!
Been following you for years. I love your content so much ❤
The actress portraying Alys Rivers delivers an outstanding performance, skillfully embodying the character with depth and nuance. Her ability to match Matt Smith’s on-screen presence is particularly impressive, showcasing her talent and elevating their scenes together. Her portrayal of the mysterious, magical, and eerie witch is captivating, making her a breakout star and a standout in the series.
@GrayArea love your content since 2017... Just stopping by to say "The seed is STRONG" is not just pointing to Cersi L.'s indiscretion with her brother but an indiscrete way of pointing to a previous overt indiscretion that mayhaps could have cost one their tongue... or head like Vaymond😮...
Killin it as always!
Best content out and now we’re fed I’m living
I think bran somehow changing the past
Gurl!!! You are on to something!!!
