Great video. I served in the CG from 69 to 73, initially as a deck hand on a buoy tender. When I proved to be an incompetent sailor, I was promoted to Airman, went to AT school in E City, and worked Avionics at Port Angeles Air Station in Washington State. Flew as Radioman / Navigator on the HU-16Es and serviced Nav gear in the Avionics shop. One of my favorite AT1's, Frank Dunaway, went on to be a Warrant Officer and flew with some of the initial flights of HU-25's from France to the US, and he told us the initial radar units were in very short supply, so they would get the aircraft accepted, strip out the radar unit so it could be used to accept the next aircraft off the line, install a radar-shaped concrete lump for weight and balance purposes, and fly the new aircraft back to the US. Damn if I don't miss that old Can-Do-Somehow-Or-Other Coast Guard Spirit. Miss ya, Frank.
Great Video! I was an AE-3 at Mobile AVTRACEN 83-85. Went to the first AE school on the Falcon in E City and became a plank owner. At mobile our Falcons were A models and I was fortunate enough to experience all three crew positions. Even was invited to sit in the right seat for a while and also the jump seat on a few landings. We did a lot of training flights and popped the drag shoot often. Had a great experience as an AE and crewman. Semper Paratus!
I watched this video and expected it to have at least 100k views. I was shocked when I saw it had less than 3k. Your video is fantastic and you definitely gained a new subscriber!
Loved flying as Dropmaster in the Falcon. Flew it from 82-04 in Mobile, Borinquen and Cape Cod; also in Bahrain during Desert Storm. Super aircraft and ALWAYS got her crew home.
I was in Mobile 83-85. AE-3 in the Falcon Shop. Senior Chief Babcock was there. We used to feed the gator in the pond when working mids. It got so that the gator would see the light on the cushman and be waiting at the fence for us when we got there. That's when we quit.
Great video. I flew the Falcon out of Miami and Mobile from the first delivery in Miami until 1987 in Mobile. Great airplane and I was privileged to fly with a bunch of outstanding aircrew.
Hey... thanks for watching and the comment. I really enjoyed flying the Falcon in the USCG. Thanks for your service... and good luck in retirement. You will enjoy it!
Sadly they retired the Falcon before I was able to get my 1500 hour pin, missed it by about 200 hours. With 3500 hours on Falcons, 130H and J models and the C27, the time in the "lawn dart" is always my most memorable.
Loved this video. Just one thing, this is my first video of your channel that i have watched. So this little complaint may have been dealt with already, as the music is fine but to loud. Just something only may just bother me 😅 👍🏾
… still learning how to put these things together. I appreciate the feedback and will work on fixing the audio levels in my future videos. Thanks for watching! And please tell your friends about my channel! Cap’n Boz
@@historyonahog7444 no worries i have no idea have to make these videos. So i don't want to come off rude or disrespectful. You bet i'll keep on watching 👍🏾
Great video. I was wondering why they would replace a jet with a turbo prop. Is it better at certain jobs? Is it as fast as the Falcon? Thanks for the video.
Thew Falcon was never really meant for the job it filled. The Turboprops are much better at low and slow than a jet any day of the week. As usual, the Coast Guard really never gets to pick what equipment it gets and most often gets hand me downs from DOD, (C27J). The Falcon contract came shortly after the US made some shady deals with France, go figure.
My son flew a USCG Falcon and I loved all the info in your video. Thank you for your years of service in the Army & USCG.

Love your video!! I will be retiring next year. I started working on the Falcon back in 2003 until 2010 before transitioning to the new aircraft.

What plane is gonna catch an airliner now that they got rid of the Falcon?

I’m surprised that the Coast Guard doesn’t have F-16 or F-18 to attack smuggling operations , especially by air craft.
Your French mistress of sorts perhaps.
“Air interceptor”? Don’t think so.
