Anne's version is so filled with desperation and end of hope. The other two are done on a stage, both heart rending. Anne is the truest form.
I discovered the world of les miserables by the clip of Ann Hathaway singing. So, for me, Ann is the best! I thanked her a lot!
All of these versions give me the chills. Carrie went from playing Young Eponine, to being Fatine!

@@emmashell8947 She will. She actually tripped on stage as Fantine and if you fall on stage, it means you'll be back doing the same production so she said "I'll see everyone when I play Madame."

They all give me chills and goosebumps everytime I hear them sing. But Lea never fails to make me tear up. And Anne always makes flat out cry. Just the emotion she conveys in her performance. Just every single time.
It is so hard to 'pit against' each other a person standing a microphone and singing the song for singing the song for singing the song or playing the part and singing the part being played. Anne Hathaway is not a professional singer, but she is am amazing actress who can sing and when combining those two makes her performance amazing. The other two can sing and sang beautiful though. So yeah all 3 are great, but Anne's is the one that made me actually tear up and really feel the meaning behind the song!

Two produced for the stage, and one for film. We can only truly compare the 2 for the stage. Anne kicked butt in her version, but it wouldn’t work on the stage.

There’s no contest ….ones for a movie the other two the west end ….the latter is brilliant but you can’t compete with Hollywood !

exactly. Film is a lot more intimate, especially with a close up like this. However, Carrie Hope Fletcher did a wonderful job of portraying deep emotion, despite the limitations of the stage
Hollywood really gave fans the shaft when they cast the movie. So many great starts could have played all those roles, instead they got Hollywood dishrags with weak and wobbly voices. Every one of those students had already been Marius, Enjolras (though Aaron was a great Enjolras...because he's MT quality), Javert or Valjean. Instead they went with big names with ca-ca for voices. Hugh redeemed himself in Showman/Music Man so he was just wrong for Valjean.
The best singer in the whole film had pretty much the smallest part..... "You at the barricade listen to this." The army officer who was played by the unmatchable Hadley Fraser.
nah anne did a great job in that scene tho, shame her character dies early on
