As a fan of this sport for over 40 year I can say that I'm guilty of not recognizing how much great talent the Australians have. They've really made their mark at their home race (to be expected). The best part of this race so far for me is this young lad Fergus Browning. He went off the front for the first 3 stages and has locked in that KOM jersey. He can sit back and relax for the last 2 stages now. This will be the first BIG win of his career. That's what this sport is about for me, watching new young talent making their mark in the sport. That lad will have a contract on a WT team sonn enough. Jayco will probably bring him on. Brilliant that!! 🤘🏻🏴
Don't get me wrong, there's lots of great Aussie riders for sure (Matthews, Ewan, O'Conner, Hindley, Groves to name a few), but the Tour Down Under has historically proven a bad indicator of talent. For Europeans and South Americans it's the very first race of the season. Most pro riders prefer training over this WT stage race and are nowhere near their peak form (which is months away, so not wise to be good now). The Aussies had their national championships last week and in the monuments and TdF they play a supporting role, so for them this is peak-season.
Still, I completely enjoy reading your post and fully agree this is what makes the sport great. As a Dutchy I'm almost jealous. You can say we have good riders, but honestly we're just lucky with Dumoulin, MvdP and two WT teams. Young talent has a very tough time in our nation, also due to it being nearly made impossible to organize a race which is not at the top level. We had the AGR and Vuelta, Giro, TdF and TdFF starts in the last decade or so, but that's just poster-press. Anything below that and it's too crowded/difficult to organize.
GTFOH Narvaez!! There was nothing to complain about there. Maybe switch over to soccer and those tactics might work a bit better😂 Narvaez is pretty damn quick for a climber tho. Seen him sprint several times and be real close 🤘🏻🏴
Look at 4:17 (start of Coq's sprint) and then 4:25 (end of sprint). Unless the road isn't straight which I can't tell, I think Narveaz has a legit reason to be annoyed
The barriers weren't very straight that's a fact but it was reviewed and there was "NO DEVIATION". They reviewed it and watched the playback 3 times. Case closed 🤘🏻🏴
People are getting out of control on this subject. Try going 45mph and keeping a perfectly straight line. It's impossible to do. There's always going to be some line wavering. This case was so minimal that it didn't even draw the attention of the race refs. They had to be approached and it had to be challenged by UAE staff in order to get it reviewed and when they did review it they said "NO DEVIATION" 🤘🏻🏴
The real incident was behind where Pithie almost took down Uhlig. Narvaez just got boxed in and went for a gap that was never going to be there, he had good legs but poor positioning. Bauhaus had a great position and should have been able to win.
3:37 mtb rider pedaling for his life while the peloton are pedaling smoothly 😂
That was very stupid
The Wave Of Pithie 😳.. Strike Near Miss 🎳
That was my brother!!!
sorry for your loss

Coq started his sprint in the Middle and ended far right, the Complain is not wrong, but its a slight bend of the road.
