    Celebrating you and your journey all the way over here in the US! Thank you for bringing us along for the journey - it's so powerful to watch you find your way and persevere. One of my favourite moments of the video is when you included the part of you talking to yourself to keep your head in the right headspace. As a fellow RUclipsr I know it can feel sort of vulnerable to leave stuff like that in but I'm so grateful that you do. I hiked on the Appalachian Trail for 8 weeks here in the US (don't know how many hundreds of miles I ended up doing) but throughout that experience, talking to myself and watching my mind was the HUGEST thing and it's great that you include that part of this journey because it's so real! Thank you for what you're doing, so inspiring! 💛 Sending love from the Southwest US

    • @NatashaBergen
      @NatashaBergen  2 года назад

      When you're in the middle of a tough climb, those 'out loud' motivational phrases are as important as your hiking boots, they focus the mind for the next careful step, I do it all the time! 😁

I am now allaready processinbg the photogramerty and data in my graphic stations , will be ready for the use with HMD (Head mounted diplay) or "just" internet virtual walk until next January.
      I had a luck with clear weather most of time, only at the Bones was a short time foggy. Had a great time and returning in April/May to visualize the Kerry way (200 + km) and Beara Way. I also completed a 360/3D virtual tour of the "Star Wars Island" - Skellig Michael.

    Great video! Done Carruntoohil back in 2016. Pretty experienced hiker at that point and had done all the peaks here beforehand (I'm from here!). I was a bit cocky on it going up tbh. I was training for 3 peaks challenge in UK - was fit and mentally ready etc. Went up the ladder decent time. But made the mistake of going down it aswell. Slipped and broke my ankle.! Slipped a good 6-7 feet and landed on left ankle and just knew something was wrong. My mate from work was with me. Had to go down parts of it on my arse but got down. Went back to the B and B in Annascaul (Across the road from the South Pole inn) Another reason why I wanted to go! I'll do it again soon. Always swore I would never go back but I will! Different route though!

    Carrauntoohil is very deceiving, it looks small, and it looks easy, but it is like a venus trap, if you disrespect it you could find yourself in big big trouble, so many tourists are advised to listen to the warnings given by locals and take their good advice, advice like when to climb and when not to climb, what to wear and what not to wear, what to take with you which includes food and emergency kits. I know from experience that peaks like Carrauntoohil can see rapid changes in weather patterns, you can get all the seasonal weather in one day. Those who did not take the good advice, some have ended up having to be rescued by the mountain search and rescue teams, involving calling out helicopters and dog teams.
