Man I wish this guy was my teacher, he breaks things down brilliantly and keeps the self defense element which so may clubs including mine don't do....thank god I do wrestling as well.

This wasn’t a headlock escape this was a headlock prevention. Looking for an actual headlock escape video.

Very disappointing that you didn’t think to use your relatively free left hand and arm and apply leverage to his face. You actually teach?

So your in a bar and you roll onto the ground ummmm

  • @FreedOrDieTrying

I would never use a headlock on jiu-Jitsu guy, you will always lose whether standing or in the ground.

  • @jimquantic

You can also let him have the head, step behind him, then bend your knees, lift him up. Boy, will he be surprised when he feels his feet leave the ground. The other is "ring the bell", meaning as you step behind, you swing your left arm between his legs--grab that left arm with your righrt arm, then lift him into the air. Of course, bring him down "gently"--don't want to hurt a man attacking you.

So the first answer is not to get into a headlock... great -_-...

What is concerning about this, is men even drunk men rarely initiate fights without back up (friends) in take down scenarios sure that seemingly eliminates the threat, but what if you get injured by a chair you didn't see and he can recover or more likely his buddies start stamping you or even bystanders try to break it up and attack YOU not the other person. Gotta find anyway to stay on your feet to be able to exit the scenario/move quickly to defend...no? Wouldn't it be better to punch the groin or gouge the eye/nose and throw him over you to stay standing?

We learn these in white belt. Glad to see the self defence aspect isn't lost.
