You still lookin' good Patrice!!! I had a serious crush on this woman in 1975, very cute young lady in 1975 especially the braids, Patrice Rushen and Stevie Wonder made braids a serious hair style in the 70's and 80's!!! #HaventYouHeard #FunkythangzProd #HipHopIsDead
This woman is a national treasure ❤❤❤❤
Music of the Earth… pat tat tar ta da🎼

Can’t wait to see my lady Patrice Rushen, one of my all time favorites! So talented!
I finally saw her for the first time
@KeithCopeland778
Patrice is not mentioned enough and acknowledged as one the most gifted, skilled keyboardists, session musicians, multi-instrumentalists, composers, arrangers, and instructors on the planet!!! The Late great Reggie Andrews was part of a little-known band in the 70s called Karma! Outstanding musicians and musicianship!!! With respect to Patrice's early experiences in film composing, Ignorance and prejudice will always be around. The "Forget Me Nots" story is more proof that record company executives don't always make the best decisions when assessing a song's success!!! The song blew up even more when Will Smith sampled it for the mega hit "Men in Black"!!! Freddie Washington is a MONSTER BASSIST AND ONE OF MY FAVORITES!!!! His infectious bass line is undeniably groovy and funky!!!
Because she did not fall for that Industry political BS. The Powers that be supports Mediocrity. Why? Because 70% of our society are Mediocre.
Omg you got her, finally, Scott!!!!🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆❤❤❤❤ you the man🎉🎉🎉😅
Patrice Rushen one of the greatest artists ever imo the female version of George duke and sampled, looped impact big time. She has done the thing ten fold. The Michael Jackson story at the police concert was cool. Quincy Jones recognized her skills cool. Her talking about the industry and handling your business and in hindsight she did create her own lane because I dug how she talked about being sandwiched on the charts between Michael jackson and prince, yet not getting the push. Dope interview and respect. Baby fingers always the stone cold truth
Her incredible talent as a musician is what we know her for but she should be given more recognition for her singing. Beautiful voice with incredible runs. I love all the songs we all know about but my personal favorite is "Settle for my love". Glad Patrice blessed us with this interview.
Agreed. Also where there is love , when I found u and didn't ya know are mind blowing jams. Those songs should be grammy bound and much more popular ❤
She is the Soundtrack to Black Life. PERIOD
This will be great!
Wow Ms Rushen ! Love , love your music!

Patrice is one of the all-time greats! Thank you for this interview. Ps. I love those photos!!
Her production is so tight and straight to the beat. Super smooth sounds, I most definitely will be making sure my kids learn /listen to her. Also, she's aging beautifully.🤍🤍🤍

Great interview, covering a lot of ground - appreciate your interviewing technique with this legendary fabulous lady
So sorry i missed part 1 of Patrice Rushen. checking them out now!!!!!
Patrice Rushen is an excellent artist, a class act her posh album was fab.As usual an excellent truth & rhythm show by the host mr. Goldfine . Everythings on the one.
Was just listening to The Dream by PR. My gawd! After all these years, she (her music) still gives me chills.
What she says at 50:50.. “If I had (one) skill.. “To be able to hear something and then go “Oooh, wait a minute “…
The late drummer Ralph Penland called me to do a hip hop version of the song “Allie “ on his newest project w Patrice but alas he passed before it could be brought to fruition..
That “One Skill” she’s talking about is everything
When was a kid i had a crush on Patrice Rushen lol im 56 i really loved her slow jams I found love especially the ending,Settle for my love and I need your love and Didn't you know but I also played #1 that instrumental was my joint there's too many to name im really glad to come across this interview im really a fan
OMG, I love you Patrice. Your music is and will always be a part of my life.
We can call this PATRICE RUSHEN'S MASTER CLASS.
And I agree about "Compromise", or how the (business) of making
Music can make an artist inauthentic. No artist wants to be inauthentic, even when working with or for someone else. This is why I love the MUSICIANSHIP of great musicians! WE LOVE YOU PATRICE!!!!
Thank you Patrice Rushen for the many songs that have brought so much joy, feeling, and love!!! What an amazing heart, mind, and soul!!!!!
Bless you many many times ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Patrice! I'm a huge fan. Thanks
What a great interview. Patrice is super super talented great music great musician.
When I was a kid I would hear, “Forget Me Nots” and being musically inclined/lover of music even at such a young age, that was not a song that I liked. But baaby! Now that I’m in my early 40’s I just so happened to hear that song one day and it changed my who perception. That song…the instruments, especially that baseline is so cold! Now, it rings in my head all the time and I absolutely love it!!!!
As a 25 year old I always get her and Donna summer confused. So happy artists like Patrice are still alive in my lifetime. I appreciate these interviews ❤🔥
Patrice Russian and Donna Summer… confused???😢
@@africkinamericanShe’s 25. Let’s just be glad she even knows who they are.
@djdumbitdwn282 Keep on discovering old school artists and become familiar with their catalogs. :-)
@@richardpayton9671 okay. By the way, that was my voice dictation app that mispelled RUSHEN 😎
Awesome interview! It just makes me appreciate Patrice Rushen even more!
Patrice Rushen Also Composed The Theme To The Steve Harvey Show In 1996. 💯

Second time watching Patrice Rushen.
U can hear her singing voice in this interview ❤.
I can relate. i never had a cool good music teacher. especially in high school.
PATRICE, I loved this!
This was wonderful! You even mentioned NDUGU!
Im gonna meet her one day i never know her in person shes seem like a nice sweet person down to earth
LOVE THIS WOMAN..
Thanks for the interview! ❤😊
Hearing herbies "rocket" in 1983 i was 10 years old and i was absolutely amazed by that song... I remember watching mtv waiting for the video to come on.. at the time my stepdad was black , an engineer at hughes aircraft and i loved listening to all his records.. in lawndale ca.. what a time..
Damn you're Mother was a real cunt, saddling you with a black step dad. That's very selfish of her. She could have thought about how her case of Jungle fever affects you. I'm just saying. If my Mother tried some shit like that on me her and I would have had problems... Huge problems.
Thank you for your contributions to Jazz and to R & B
I love your composition
“Forget Me Nots” 🙏🏾🎶🎶🎶🎹

Love this women
"Look Up" one of my favorites 👍🤘😎
Patrice Aka Baby Fingers. 💯
“Forget Me Nots” 🥳
patrice
Third listen!!!!!
She has a personal vibe similar to Wynton Marsells and Marcus.Miller. All three of them are incredible composers, in the classic sense...but don't "bible thump" about it :-) Plus they've all mastered the art of being unapologetically pro black, without ever having to say it! Lol
I heard Prince had a crush on her back in the 70s. SHe was fine back then
She talks about their relationship in Part 2.
Wow ! you were able to get Patrice Rushen. I am thrilled to see this. Thank you 🔥
