Patrice Rushen is an award-winning musician and composer who is also one of the most sought after artists in the music industry. She is a classically trained pianist who originally found success in the 70’s and 80’s with her signature fusion of jazz, pop and R&B. During this era, she composed and recorded the hit song, “Forget Me Nots,” which has been frequently covered and sampled by other artists.

Patrice is an underrated musical genius.
Love her. She was a child prodigy. I am so glad she never sold out. She once said in an interview Clive Davis tried to get her to go in a different direction but she refused. I'm so glad she did.
Patrice is brilliant and it shows in her music, her words and her songwriting. A genius. Underrated.

Patrice is one of the most gifted, talented, and accomplished musicians, composers, arrangers, music directors, and educators on the planet. However, she still doesn't get the mass recognition that she deserves. Thank you for a very revealing interview!
