One of the most underrated artists of the 70s & 80s.
She’s amazing!!
Being able to see Patrice Rushen’s fingers close up while she’s playing is a blessing!!
THOSE OF YOU WHO WERE THERE, ARE SO DAM LUCKY
We so were
She was and still is a top notch performer. Her music is all that. The musicians should be proud to say they played with Patrice Rushen...
Lady Patrice is the CHAMPION of what she do she puts her soul into her music unlike any other woman in the business..she is GENIUS HANDS DOWN...
This performance actually marked her 40th year in music. 1972 was her first recording.
Watch at 8:11 the drummer drops his right stick, recovers it, and doesn't miss a beat. What a boss.
I've been a Patrice Rushen fan since I 1st heard her in '73! I've followed her (and NDUGU) around the world thru my years in Japan, and I'm still In LOVE with them both. Keep on doing it y'all, ain't noting wrong with what you are doing. -Marvin J. Miller 12/1/2017
Me 2 years later. Still good as I was on the other side of the big pond.... the Netherlands. Before the Dawn came out and arrived as an import in the recordshop I was working at.. pretty much all her albums are in my record wall......
@@RaulVeldhuizen Wow! I, too, was working at a record store in Milwaukee, WI, when I discovered Patrice Rushen in '72. NDUGU, whom I actually met and became friends with while I was in Japan, has passed . . . unfortunately. Still loving Patrice, I want her to go on expanding her knowledge (and ours, too), forever!
Music 🎶 and Musician Legend Patrice Rushen who is still in her prime for over 60 + years and is still has the soothing voice! Music 🎶 and Musician Legend Patrice Rushen is still a legendary talent in the music 🎶 business and her legendary musician and music 🎶 career is still going strong 💪🏾
Ugh, just perfection!! Freddie Washington truly is one of the greatest bass players of all time, I could hear that bass line "Forget Me Nots" a million times and not get bored of that groove.
One of the COLDEST bass lines ever done. Ina era of the best too..
I'm with you!
And just as adorable as I remember her thirty years ago! Real. Music.
Omg, still same cute little girl face. I would have loved to have been at this event. They sound incredible!
I AM SO JEALOUS! I WISH I WAS THERE! GOSH!
Madame Tia Me Too!!! I can't believe it's only 3 yrs. ago!!

Really cool music with last longing melodies.
U can tell her heart is in the music, it shows beautifully
What a blessing she is, the purity, the mastery, the daring and, the humility, she’s God’s gift to the Family of artists. Bless you Dr.Rushen.

NOW DIS WAS THE REAL UNCUT DEAL HERE.THANKS FOR THE POST
Go gal!
I watch this every morning
Amazing musicians. 👏
In my opinion she is the female version of Prince ( musically). Her music moved me doo much I named my daughter after her.
Even met her once at 29 Palms Cal. She came out and played for us " Jarheads" and she was a gracious as she is this day!
Simply the Best!!!! To bad the Music Industry missed this shooting star. However, what it really tells me is she wouldn't sell her professional CRAFT for some fake fame.
When I hear her I always think INTEGRITY.
Still have a crush on you Patrice!!!!
Semper Fi
So much talent I miss the 70s and 80s
This is fantastic, thank you
the way she still hits those notes on Havent You Heard is so crazyyy
Patrice at her best as usual. One of the greatest of all time. Thanks for uploading this!
Wow an amazing array of legendary talent on that stage, and what a funky tight groove they laid down, awesome!
Mannnnnn She is goooooo talented!!!! There wouldn't be a Alicia Keys if Patrice didn't bust down the doors in the 70s & 80s!!!!!
Talented? Well....it’s like saying Herbie Hancock can play. Patrice has been a top top jazzer for about four and a half decades.
Forget Alicia. Check out Patrice’s first six LPs. She’s one of my favourite players because she has the jazz chops and a lush dreaminess at times but she also has the funk. Full stop.
She kills it Algie 😉
I think there would have been an Alicia Keys with or without Patrice R
I wish Alicia would make something funky like her.
Man oh man! I miss Patrice yes of course--her first-- 4 albums- were the closest to her true spirit-when she opens up and gets in the flow of her Improv--she's on the same level as all the great jazz pianist-Herbie-Chick- Joe Sample and all the rest-she is MS all THAT! 🎵🎹
Doc Powell Beautiful!!
Southport weekender was the bomb. I wish it still existed. 3 days of great music and great people and when you've got that it's an incredible vibe.
Gone, but it definitely will not be forgotten.
