I was ready to cut the tops off my drums...I've been an engineer for over 30 years and the string trick is pure genius, never too old to learn cool tips! Thanks
One of the best, concise how-to videos I've seen. Cuts to the chase, no chit- chat, the tools are accessible and common ... Simple professional explanation. And I'll be putting my rain barrels together tomorrow. Thank you, much.
Googled this & found your video. Wasn't till the end I realized you guys were who I bought my barrels from in the first place (SJ). Now at least I can put the spigots I bought on.
Thanks for the video. The bulkhead fitting and the string trick were good tips to fix my direct threaded spigot that was leaking. I tied a nut to the bottom part of the string and used a magnet to grab the nut. Worked perfect the first time!!
Thanks I just did two of them. I use the one and a half inch paddle bit seeing how much cheaper it was then a holesaw bit. The first one I did came out pretty good but the second one started wandering around a little bit and I stopped before I ruined it and went and got a harbor freight 1 1/4 inch step drill bit. By the time I was done with that it actually came out better than the first one. So yeah a holesaw would probably be everyone’s best bet for this project.
I watched your video, got the address on the site. I sent for it and it came very quickly. I got my plastic barrel and in just a few minutes after doing it the way of your video, I was ready to go....Very simple and quick. ....Thank you very much.....(The comments about your sound needing to be raised is true.....)
Thanks for the vlog. I was checking to see what I needed to buy, 🤔 after watching I'm ordering a couple of the spigot kits and I'm going to give it a try myself.
wow, thanks. just made my day. BTW, when your drill makes that noise it's the drill's clutch disengaging the motor. Set the clutch to the drill bit setting when drilling holes. thanks again.
Thank you for this video! I just bought a 500 gallon tank from my neighbor who is moving. The tank has the spigot way at the base, I was trying to figure out how to get a spigot installed at about the height of a Home Depot bucket.
Nice video! Idk what everyone is talking about I can hear you just fine. But uhhh are the people slamming on their brakes at 3:30 all good? They must have been going at LEAST 96K/PH
My bulkhead fitting came with 1 rubber fitting and 1 white hard plastic fitting. I out the rubber one on the inside, and the white one on the outside, but getting some water leakage. I am leery of tightening it too much? Ideas please!

One of the OGs of DIY hack videos.

@@Snailmailtrucker The blue barrel that I have does not have holes that are large enough to drop the bulkhead down into the barrel, ugh.

I’ve been dreading this for days. Now that I’ve seen this I’m going back out to the shop when I get home and knocking it out!
Well crap. The bulkhead I have will not fit through the opening. 🤦♂️ I have the white barrels. I’m guessing they are smaller?

Freaking awesome! Brilliant. Thanks for posting. The simplest solutions aren't always the most obvious ones!
Charge battery, and set chuck to Drill, not screw

Simon99 - same here. Went to local Home Depot - they had no idea what I'm talking about.
