Yeah great interview. This was my favorite Jimmy era so to speak. I mean I enjoyed 90’s Jimmy. But 70’s and the 80’s Jimmy those were the legendary years. U gotta love the the “stache”. Songwriters like him aren’t born everyday.

Love these vintage interviews! Great insight into the early mind of a musical and entrepreneurial genius. Always humble and self-deprecating. He was the soundtrack of my 45 year marriage, still going strong. Love him.

It's great to listen to a conversation instead of the same old questions.

Watching him here, Jimmy gave the impression that he was laid back and carefree, but in reality, he was focused and sharp as a tack.
A talented man, taken too soon... Rest in Paradise, Jimmy - Fins Up! - 🦈🦜🍔🏝🏴‍☠

Been a Jimmy Buffett fan for a long time. When I lived in Pascagoula, Mississippi in the 80's one of my friends had what was supposed to be Jimmy Buffett's first record, that only like 200 of which were ever pressed. It was horrible, but we would get it out later at night and listen to it. He lost it in Katrina. I bought my first album, Changes in Lattitudes, in 1976 when I heard it playing in a friend's dorm room. I listened to it for an hour, and then drove straight to the record shop to get my own copy. Bought a sailboat right after that, and nothing but Jimmy Buffett has ever been allowed on those boats!

    Thanks for putting this up.
Great to hear more about Jimmy's younger days.
My favourite music remains those early 3-5 vinyls, the material basically drawn on his life.
We are very fortunate that Jerry Jeff Walker drove him south in Jerry Jeff's 1947 Packard, the rest is happy history.

This was many years ago. Sadly, we lost Dan Miller in 2009 unexpectedly. It is a great interview and two amazing men!!

Truly Jimmy was ahead of his time (this is coming from a lifelong, born and raised, Parrot Head). He was remotely what today's country radio has become. Nothing bad meant there, just not real traditional country, not outlaw country, but more country pop. If the early 70s was today, he would have had huge mainstream success. He pivoted from his original style and created a style that is simply JB, maybe the likes of Kenny Chesney and Zac Brown can come close to. Jimmy has had all the success that he could ever need, and more, but as a direct commercial success, yes he was way ahead of his time.
