There will never be another like Jimmy Buffett. The world has lost a legend, and though we have never met, I have lost a friend. Rest in peace, Jimmy. Hope to see you on the other side.
Unlike many devout Parrot heads, I only saw Jimmy Buffett in concert twice. The first in 1978 at a Rock Superbowl in Orlando's Tangerine Bowl as a wide-eyed 15 year old. He had his broken leg then, propped up on a stool in a cast. It was just days before he recorded his double live LP at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Still one of my favorites. The next time in Atlanta in 1993 as a young architect newly arrived in the city. I'm still here, not so young anymore. I think back to 1978, and realize forty five years" have slipped away". RIP Folk singer of generations. You are already missed greatly! Peace.
Proof that there was so much more to this man than margueritas...he was just so humble that he let people think what they wanted. Makes me want to start reading his books.😢
Jimmy was a genuine guy when we were neighbors and grew up as friends and playmates in Pascagoula,... he never forgot his roots and remained a kind, genuine man the rest of his extremely lucky, succe$$ful and well lived life. Even his $ 1 Billion didn't change or ruin his character or life, like so many other famous celebs. Sail on now, Jimmy, we'll always remember you and your infectious smile and nature through the fruits of your life's work and labors. Bon Voyage, old friend.
The profound appreciation and admiration that I have for a person who brought only happiness and decency to the world makes me genuinely feel love for this man. RIP Jimmy. You are loved and we will very truly miss you man. Hope there are cheeseburgers in paradise man! #JimmyBuffett #RIP #Its5oClockEverywhere
Love this man and his music so much! He gave us so much through his music and concerts and his “joie de vie,” which was inspiring and contagious. He will never be forgotten. He and his music will live on in the hearts of Parrot Heads forever. Rest easy Jimmy. We love you. ❤️😓💔
R.I.P. Jimmy Buffett. My family, friends and I had so much fun at many of his concerts. Jimmy’s songs and inspiration got me through many tough times in my life. I am 56 and there have been many. God Speed Jimmy!
I feel lucky to have enjoyed Jimmy's great music since the 70's. I got my hush puppies on I guess I was never meant for glitter rock and roll. Bless you Jimmy!
We drank in college and listened to his music in the dead of winter and the music made us happy and long for a warm sandy beach on a island somewhere. I and the rest you fans/parrot-heads will truly miss his perceptions and cleverness with lyrics that we will hum in our heads until we sail away one day. May there be peace where you are as you left so many people here on earth with love and laughter in their hearts. You will be greatly missed! Bubbles up!
He was such a talented, intelligent and interesting man. Well read and a great storyteller, singer and songwriter. We have loved him for 45 years, and our children cut their teeth listening to all of his songs and attending his concerts with us. They love him also. 🩵 He will be missed by millions 😢
Growing up in South Florida in the early 70s, at 18 I had 1800hrs flying time most of which involved gambling junkies to the Bahamas and Caribbean. Jimmy's lyrics I lived in fact not fiction for Years as a pilot, a Genius of lifes Lyrics
absolute truth ... a "normal guy" makes good (better than very good) selling a laid back escapism life style - which we all seek in the rigors of our day & age ... make no mistake Jimmy is an incredible poet (write /sing what you know) who imparts his experiences to us via his music ... an unrivaled & unique gift ... the joy his music carries can be labeled as therapeutic - it has become a constant in our world ... since I am running of "Buffett adjectives", will close with what I have told my patients for many decades --- "listen to Jimmy" !!!
This was two years ago. He had performed two shows at La Cigale the day before this interview. Crosby and Nash showed up for the Friday night show and together with Jimmy sang a couple of songs. I was at the American Library the evening of this interview. Buffett has had a very interesting life as this video shows.
Love this! ❤. Thanks for posting this. He was just a wonderful person…. Down to earth! But yet very special and multi talented! Will miss you terribly Jimmy 😢
So enjoyed this… and He Went To Paris has been a favorite JB tune for a long time. Love seeing him perform that in such a simple setting. Always assumed it was based on a real gentleman but now I know, straight fr his mouth ! rip and sympathies to his family… and friends… and band. 🌴
Enjoyed this immensely, thanks for sharing. Jimmy was a good chunk of the soundtrack to my college years. I wish I had a dime for every beer I drank listening to Jimmy Buffett!
He went to Paris , song was truly a gift delivered to those there....Jimmy almost let his feelings runaway on him...I wonder what he was thinking of...Life....That mans life in the song....there are so many more that the muse does not visit on this Earth for whatever reasons and they and we just deal with it....
When the Muse touches you with the right words and the public at the same time it's magic..like Jimmy said when you get into tune with the public's likes it's fantastic...What a wonderful man...Jay Leno in the comedy and car world is another...both touched and favored by a Muse... Clint Eastwood said it too , its like getting touched by magic over and over again.....out of their control ...but they make the best of it... I tried writing years ago...a Gearhead story called , Pioneers of Power.....It is a lonely journey.
Johnny, I got to hang with him once on the set of Hawaii Five O. He was there all day on the set. One of our aircraft from our museum at Barbers Point was being used. He was genuine and he was jazzed about the history of Barbers and totally got the vibe of the place. He was down to earth and we got to talk about "those crazy Navy Flyers " he sang about in one of his songs.....and how truly close we were on this airport to those very men he sang about: Young naval aviators that flew and trained, went to combat in the south pacific and returned home hopefully on all those Essex class carriers. He knew his shit regarding airplanes and history. Neat guy. Glad I got to meet him. He was sitting in the cockpit of the CH-53 Sea Stallion and I told him to give me his cell id take a picture. If you go to his website, you can see the pic I took of him in the left seat. Neat dude.
I meant to say the day after this interview. It was probably two days before the show because this was recorded on Wednesday if I recall correctly. Anyway, was a great show at La Cigale. I was there for both shows last year, also, and the security was much more strict than previous years. I have tickets for two of his three shows this year, September 22 & 23, 2017. He is 70 now and I've seen several of his shows already this year and they have all been great!
Of course I wish Jimmy was still here, but man, I'm sure glad he was here when he was. A gentleman and true performer, entertainer, and story teller! Love and miss you Bubba
Jimmy Buffett being the awesome guy who loved everyone and was so generous, I believe he was a Godly man and thanked God for his blessings. RIP Jimmy Buffett ♥️
Jimmy Buffett sang a song years ago called Margaritiville.... it was about his old girlfriend if I remember correctly... its too bad that song never caught on.
He has a song with the lyrics WHY DON'T WE GET DRUNK AND SCREW but he was scared of the people in the other areas in Louisana ,Alabama,Mississippi because he was Catholic ......Poor Jimmy
He was smart, talented and resolute... one of a kind and a survivor in an industry that can be fleeting and fickle at best. Now, very sadly, he is gone from our midst... however, he has left us with a wonderful legacy of his music, his books and his passion for not wasting a minute of your life. Rest in Paradise Jimmy - Fins Up! - 🦈🦜🍔🏝🏴☠
Stand alone artist in a world full of imitators...Jimmy Buffett...Thank you for a lovely cruise...

Jimmy’s always at the beach, no matter where the concert is.
A lesson on how far you can go with intelligence, personality and perseverance. A genuine guy....a life well lived!

I personally don’t like it when folks bring Jesus into something like this just not cool to me. But it’s your post.
@@nancyhunt3671As I'm an atheist, there was no religious connotation intended. It was said tongue in cheek and meant to be a ridiculous metaphor.

And Bob Dylan's song 'Philosopher Pirate(Key West)' is a kind of a portrait of Jimmy Buffett?

Jimmy Buffet actually looks a lot like my brother on his right profile. (The long nose and laugh lines around his eyes.) Wonder what his ancestry is?
@@christinetarquin3773 I am also interested in his heritage. His profile and ruddy complexion is just like my grandfather and father.
No acoustic version of Take it Back?
Jimmy Buffett sang a song years ago called Margaritiville.... it was about his old girlfriend if I remember correctly... its too bad that song never caught on.
