RIP Jimmy. 💔💔💔💔😢😢😢😢. This sucks!!! Thanks for some of the best times of my life!!! Your music got me through a the rough times… always. Rest well our legend!
Jimmy Buffett is the best entertainer! He embraces the audience! Love you Jimmy. Keep coming back to Ontario Canada! Us Parrotheads need you every year, not every other!
Was at that summer of 81 concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia MD. He had just come out with Incommunicado. Went on stage long after band left and found/kept his handwritten play list. Sober enough not to take his guitar lol
I was in Elementary & highschool back in 80s, so he was Appling to parents aged & older type of people , but i remember him in shows & radios back in day! RIP
This interview was three years after the first two Jimmy Buffet concerts I ever went to, in 1978. One at Delta State University and one at Mississippi State University. One cost $2.00 to get in and the other was $2.50, but I forget which was which. Thanks for it all, JB!
Would like to see the clip of Jimmy on the Carson show when Hendrix appeared as well!!! It was his first appearance on the Carson Show and he was not sure Johnny would even invite him down for a chat.
Jimi Hendrix died in September of 1970. But had it been possible to have both Jimi & Jimmy on Johnny's show then that might have turned out very interesting had it been Jimi & Jimmy having a conversation.
You can tell jimmy wanted to tell some stories but they all got cut off. It must be weird as an entertainer to be in front of an audience while you’re following the rules of another entertainer
Some folks say he’s “sold out”. I like to think evolved (for good or bad - you be the judge) fits him a little better. I miss the “good ol days, seeing him in the 70’s before Maragaritaville and Cheeseburgers and stuff. Nowadays he’s definitely “made enough money to buy Miami”. But I still like the way he tried to connect with his audiences. Here in Birmingham, he’ll mention going by one of Frank Stitt’s restaurants for a bit before the show. Sadly though, most of us wouldn’t had to have chose between a Frank Stitt restaurant, or the concert - as both are high-dollar activities. I don’t begrudge Jimmy his success. Hell, I’m happy for him. But I’m thinking it’s time for me to move down to Orange Beach and see if I can find any of the inspirations for Snake Bite Key and other fictional places in “Take Another Road. And who knows, I might just run into him over at Lulu’s someday. You never know...
Was Jimmy setting off metal detectors in airports in 1981? I didn't know metal detectors were installed at airports back then. A chosen, few I suppose or what?
Damnnnn he's only 34! Seems 50. I guess people seemed older back then. It's so weird too I expected him to be this goofy fun guy in a Hawaiian shirt, but he's kind of a southern guy
Yeah, he spent pretty much all his formative years in the deep south, so you can hear that accent pretty strongly. It may have subsided a little over the years.
Back when Jimmy was cool. Once the mustache went & the commercial corp shit started so did the song writing. He hasn't put out a decent record in decades!
Think the last album I have of his that i thought was very good was "Floridays" or maybe the one after? But from 1975 to 1986 he put out beautiful music!!!
Nah, that's crap. Than you're not listening. Just because he evolved from what you like as music, doesn't mean his skill set has faltered. He's still putting out good music....different from the 70's (what artist still sounds the same as they did in the 70's???) but still brilliant.
That's bull. Artists change. That's a part of it. Before he was the island-hopping Buffett we know now, he was country. In fact, he was too country for LA, but not country enough for Nashville. Jimmy never sold out. He's brilliant and still making good music.
Face it you canooks You aint Gots no Beach ! ! ! Now here in South Jersey we have the most beautiful white sand beaches for miles and miles.Think of it this way, Parrots not Penguins . Surf is kickin today !!
i'd rather have a gravel enema than go to the jersey shore with all the idiots in gold chains, elvis hair and speedos. just nasty. gulf coast is everything buffett loves.
Thanks for all the music and fun Jimmy, you were the best!
RIP Jimmy. 💔💔💔💔😢😢😢😢. This sucks!!! Thanks for some of the best times of my life!!! Your music got me through a the rough times… always. Rest well our legend!
What a story teller and legend.
RIP, Jimmy! Thanks for sharing your talent with us! You are with many angels you knew in this life. Entertain Heaven!
Just a great guy, he added so much good to my life.
Died of skin cancer but I'm sure he loved every minute in the sun. This is a man who enjoyed life. Oh the stories he had to tell.
Let the winds of time blow over my head, I'd rather die while I'm living than live while I'm dead.
I have been to many of Jimmy Buffett shows it never gets old. The best. He is best entertainment there hands down. Always puts me in good mood.
Down to earth, a real human being.
RIP Jimmy 😢
Some of it's magic, some of it's tragic, but he had a good life all the way. My man!
I sing He went to Paris at least once a week. My favorite J. B. Song!
Amen. Pass the rum. :)
Never lost his sex appeal!! Wow!
Jimmy dreamed a big ole dream and it came true! I think about that everytime I drive through mobile tunnel and across mobile bay.

The lyrics to "Lovely Cruise" hit differently now. Rest in Paradise. Jimmy.
First nod to Johnny, the standard bearer of late night. Jimmy tells stories like his songs, just listen and imagine it. RIP Gentlemen…
Rest in Peace Jimmy! All the parrotheads will miss you. You began at The Bayou Room as a folksinger in New Orleans. New Orleans loves you!
Wow the day I was born! 5/5/1981
I was in Elementary & highschool back in 80s, so he was Appling to parents aged & older type of people , but i remember him in shows & radios back in day! RIP

Two nice men having a good conversation,
I really miss you Johnny!!!
Damon Me too
Me too! No late night host could match him - ever!
Cool to hear 'recently' he's into his fans and music than the ever changing politics of the day!
RIP Jimmy Buffett, 2016. :(
HardlineFeminists Jimmy's still alive. Why did you say RIP??
You were 7 years too early!
If it suddenly ended tomorrow I could somehow adjust to the fall
Good times and riches and son-of-a-bitches I've seen more than I can recall

Jimmy called himself Marvin Gardens when he 1st started touring!
Jimmy...Johnny...Johnny...Jimmy

I agree, Johnny was not going for it. Wonder why.
You could tell he's kind of nervous, something he wouldn't come across as now.
I made a short vid called: The Cowboy and the French Model @ Autour du Rocher nod to JB ( RIP)
33 years ago today!!!!!!!!?
RIP Jimmy
9/1/23

Dude had hair.. I remember broken leg. He sat on side of stage singing.. stated "be glad when ***** cast comes off"
This was six days before Bob Marley passed away.
Wow 😕
Damn! Good tidbit!
who goes skiing after breaking their leg twice??
It's b.s.
you know who go skiing after breaking their leg Jimmy Buffett
He used to play the bars in Livingston, Montana but I never considered any of his music 'Rock and Roll'. If anything it is country folk .
Or folk pop.
Was Jimmy setting off metal detectors in airports in 1981? I didn't know metal detectors were installed at airports back then. A chosen, few I suppose or what?
Back then they used to be at the gates.
Boy little did the world know!
can we get this in High Def pleeeez. sheeesh.
"High Def????" LOOOOL!!!!...(how old are you anyhow, son?)
WHAT?! I didn’t even notice until you mentioned it! HA! But then, the picture looks comfortable to me!
Agreed! Come back to Toronto!
💔
This is Cliff Burton, and his Gulf and Western 16th note friend!!!
Damnnnn he's only 34! Seems 50. I guess people seemed older back then. It's so weird too I expected him to be this goofy fun guy in a Hawaiian shirt, but he's kind of a southern guy

Lol. " Apparently its worthless" !
Ok
Crazy audience - not a compliment.
I thought the same thing. Clueless to who their looking at.
Make better weather up there haha.

Back when Jimmy was cool. Once the mustache went & the commercial corp shit started so did the song writing. He hasn't put out a decent record in decades!
I agree. He's not as good as when he was a little more 'obscure'. But he has to make a living too I guess, albeit, a good living
But to be fair, most artists put out their best stuff in the first decade. It's a rarity for artists to make great original stuff past their prime.
Think the last album I have of his that i thought was very good was "Floridays" or maybe the one after? But from 1975 to 1986 he put out beautiful music!!!

MILLIONS of people disagree with you. I sailed around the world listening to Buffett and in all corners of this world he’s known and respected
Damn
He’s a democrat 🥲
If you'd have paid attention you'd have seen all of the best people are!
Wow he certainly sold out since these days.
Dr. Robert Rosenhill.
That's bull. Artists change. That's a part of it. Before he was the island-hopping Buffett we know now, he was country. In fact, he was too country for LA, but not country enough for Nashville. Jimmy never sold out. He's brilliant and still making good music.

Buffett was a cool dude. Now, not so much.
Why?
