    I just added this today to my collection. I chose this because of it’s strap. I actually went to see the 41mm white dial. But I felt like they were asking for too much for it with a canvas strap. And I already have the 42mm black dial in a bracelet. This is easily the most comfortable strap that doesn’t move around like a bracelet. It doesn’t have to be worn firmly. I consider this my first active manual watch. And the investment will hopefully be a lifetime.

    I have this on the bracelet and it's one of my favorite watches. It's also a strap monster -- the white dial goes perfect with Barton canvas straps in just about all the colors. Great review, Teddy!

    A great super readable all round no nonsense watch with a decent workhorse movement within. I like the manual wind increasingly these days, it gives the owner that extra physical connection with the watch. Next time I'm at the AD I may well take a look at this one.

    I'd say potentially the Alba Titanium could be another option. Small, Seiko pedigree, Titanium, Full dial Lumibrite lum. Less than $100USD ... However will cost you more because Alba is Asian (and almost impossible to find here in the U.S.) and would therefore most likely come from an Asian dealer resulting in higher tax and shipping costs.
    Whereas Lorus is Seiko subsidiary in Europe and easier to find in the U.S. but does not come in the Titanium + Lumibrite variant.
    The above said the Alba Titanium for retail price is a stunning value.

    Can you advise your method of winding? Let it wind down? Then go about 40 turns? I’ve had the auto. I finally pulled the trigger on the mechanical and I’m trying to understand where the disconnect happens as people have said they break it? Finer spring, perhaps, but with that power reserve of 80 maybe it’s better to let wind down? I didn’t feel any resistance even up and until 40 turns and I’m not tuned to know what this may feel like although I go gently to try and feel. Advice?

    Without sticking to the original model, a perfect for me version would be the white dial without the 13 to 24 hour scale (in Europe we all already know it without the need for it to be written), 36mm, and with 10atm of water resistance. In the same price range, I would buy it for sure.

    • @andrewkelly8754
      @andrewkelly8754 2 года назад +3

      You should look at CWC. They have a 36mm sapphire 20atm field watch no 24 ring and mountains of history supplying the British armed forces up until 2008. They still supply special forces like the SBS. Look at their GS sapphire. You can get with or without date

    Thinking of buying this as a dress watch (I already have tissot prx), what dial and leather strap do you think is best?

    • @mr.t2553
      @mr.t2553 2 года назад +3

      Hi! It is a very nice watch, but I would find it quite difficult to call it a dress watch (Hamilton has other watches which fit much more into the category of dress watches). Your Tissot Prx is closer to a dress watch than this one. But if you want the less informal version available, I would go for the black dialed version and separately purchase a two-piece leather strap. As for me, my favorite by far is the white dial version and I would put it on a two-piece tan leather strap.

I wear the white dial more the bead blasted case has slightly dulled now this is a good thing as out of the box looks a little cheap. I wear the white in summer more and black in winter. Overall both have no signs of leaving the collection. Keep your eye out for deals as often can be had cheaper.
