Thank you so much for this queen ! Really appreciate your tips and tricks for a higher SAT! unfortunately our school has given us PSATs and I always score really really really low, and it gets me discouraged. But, I know with perseverance and studying I can get a higher score in the SAT test and be proud. Thank you again for this ! (Also I’m a Junior!)
Sat prep is a waste of time and money. The sat isnt a iq test. If you get a low score it aint cuz u dumb. The test is basically testing how much effort and how well you can take the test tbh. Everyday i study for multiple hours trying to do the strategies i learn from sat prep only to get a god damn 800-900 ovr. Moral of the story is dont go to sat prep and just learn to take the sat. Also they say the math is algebra, geometry and trig yet the way they word the questiond make it seem like its own genre
Yeah but the thing is, putting in the time to learn, even if you know it doesn’t measure your intelligence, is important because it can give you thousands of more dollars in scholarships.
s b how you gonna go to sat prep and still get that low. I ain’t even know what that shit was until March junior year. Got an 1190, but like lowkey finna study a lil. Wanna 1400, but I agree, sat prep ain’t it
I honestly needed this so much. The 1st time I took the SAT, I did the free one provided by my school without studying and I scored a 1220. Obviously, I knew my score wouldn't be so high since I didn't study so I took that with a grain of salt. My parents enrolled me in an SAT/ACT Prep Course which seemed to really be helping me. I felt I was definitely improving and soon enough it was time to retake the SAT for the 2nd time, with studying of course. (June 2021) I recently just got my score and was so disappointed with myself as I scored a 1320. While I did improve by 100 points I was aiming for a 1410+ on the SAT. While I'm no longer in the Prep Course anymore, I'm hoping I can use your tips to get my dream score on my next attempt. Wish me luck!
Just started my sophomore year... got a 1230 on the 8/9 PSAT which is a projected 1290 on my actual PSAT, and then a 1380 on SAT. Not good. Definitely needed this video. Thank you so much!
A senior I talked to who got 1520 on his SAT said all he did was get 9 hours of sleep and used khan academy. Really, guys, sleep makes all the difference.
Thanks so much for this video! I'm a freshman and I'm an Asian. Sat stuff really makes me so struggling and anxious but this video really helps a lot! Thanks again!
My take on this: (I'm a current senior, 1560 super score 1530 highest sitting, 800/770 math (june sat fucked me) 760 english (from the june sat as well). SAT is about doing practice questions for the most part, especially if you are already in the 1400-1450 range. If you are in the 1400-1450 and understand why the answers are right, you just need more practice with concepts you already know. Because of this, doing practice tests are really good. I didn't like any book except the college board themselves, because even though Kaplan and Princeton are harder, they asked different questions that are tested. This to me wasn't like math. Just because I could do hard reading/writing questions doesn't mean I can do easy ones (weird right?). Because of this, I like ACT more. I never took it, but ACT is known for being easier but with more questions under a stricter time limit. This might seem bad, but it's easier to practice going fast than learn an entirely new concept. If you are struggling, try out the ACT. Another bonus is that ACT releases a ton of their exams, so you have a ton of OFFICIAL exams to practice with, rather than just the 8 that College board gives out.
@@abuhala8183 Honestly the best I can say is just do more practice. That's about it. Again, this is where ACT is easier to improve becuase reading is easier and they have more practices available.
@@jerryhan4563 the problem is i've fainalized about 20 real exams, but my reading score is in the same range. what are the best strategies, tips , that raised ur score gradually? ,, ty
The only thing useful about sat prep is the math. The math teaches you how to do it and stuff, but reading is actually so subjective. The grammsr part is bs because they dont even teach grammar in school and most of the correct answers always have some bs reason
thank you for the "test scores /= intelligence", i was a 'gifted kid' growing up, it gave me a lot of imposters syndrome and eventually my drive to do good in school just ran out. now, every time i take a test my heart is pounding so loud in my ears i can't even hear myself read the questions in my head :( i might be/might've been smart, but my test/exam anxiety is so bad it doesnt matter 😭💜 ty for this
I had a 1370 on my SAT I started studying the summer of sophomore year and my whole junior years until the exam...I’m lucky I took u got my score on the first try so yeah...you can do it just gotta work hard for it which is not easy...I’m genuinely lazy myself but the end result Is benefiting 😙
I am not joking, but I raised my 1030 to a 1350 this summer. 2 months was enough for me for the jump. Initially, I thought it was impossible. I do have asian parents which helped push me a little bit, but you got this! Proof: imgur.com/a/FHVfcQl ( I blurred out the test dates for my privacy) The SAT test does not define intelligence. There is too many people that think it is impossible. You need to pinpoint what your struggling at. When I got a 1030, I didn't truly try on the SAT. I didn't read the passages; I didn't know the grammar rules. I didn't do the math efficiently. It is hard to recommend strategies that worked for me as everyone is different. I would just like to let you know that there are no secrets to the SAT. Her tips in the video are awesome. Use those to benefit your SAT prep plan. For grammar, it is essential you know the grammar rules. Getting a grammar guide especially at a low score is crucial for success. After memorizing the critical grammar rules, writing is a breeze as a section. I score a 340/400 on that section which is good for me considering my 260 on the last go around. My reading has improved so much from just reading more and ACTUALLY READING the passages. 220 to a 300/400. Which makes a combined RW score to a 640. For mathematics, it is literally formulas and practice. Memorize the formulas from a SAT guide and re apply. 580 to a 710 in mathematics here. A LOT OF PRACTICE TESTS are crucial. Recognizing mistakes and fixing patterns is the key. Personally, I didn't like the Barrons or Kaplan. They are too unrealistic especially in the mathematics department. Summer is a good time to improve your score. As a sophomore, I would focus on your grades as those are still equally important. You could allocate like 1 day a week for SAT (2-3 hrs) obviously change it up based on your schedule. In fact, it is great that you are starting now! This is the right time to start. Resources I would recommend: 1) Khan academy (Link your college board) 2) Crack SAT (website for practice tests) 3) A good prep book that you can afford or the ones she recommended for practice Good luck to everyone! Just know it can only rain forever. I was very unconfident. The sunshine will show from the practice eventually. All the best!
I started the SAT with a literally 650 and now I am scoring1180+. I think this low score is because of my lack of English but now I feel more comfortable with English. I still have more than five months till my SAT and I believe I can score a good score on it even though I am right now stuck in 1100 and can't score higher :3
For those who used khan academy and took the SAT, how did yall handle the transition between taking the test on-screen and on a piece of paper? I'm currently studying with khan academy and I find myself really improving a lot lately:) But at the same time, I worry that my results will downgrade on the real SAT test...So I ask u all, how did yall cope with this? @@yvoniecalicaran5858 What colleges do you think you would like to apply to? Do you have any references from camaraderie’s and family? I think it’s great to not know what to write in your essay. A lot of people try to take careful consideration towards it. If I wrote a college essay with the ignorant mindset I have right now, it would probably be a detailed 250 word story about a simple thing in my life that connects to the constituents of what I want to do in life as I age. It sounds comparable to a lot of college essays. For example, how a lot of essays start off with a simple game, person, or object that impacted on someone’s life. I would probably say something about Richard Feynman. How he thought the way I do now. How it doesn’t frighten me about the “not knowing”. If I knew everything I would want to kill myself to be honest. That would be a tedious life. If a college essay was about something that changed my life I would know what to write. Unfortunately, it’s not all that.
@@chloeoh1245 Anywhere in new york or PA I guess. I am still in my country but will be migrating to US soon. Grading system is really different in my country (I'm not even going to talk about how horrible our education here) but considering I don't have any extracurricular activities (because my school doesnt encourage students joining extra c for us to just focus on academics which is crazy!!). And for essays I think you don't have to think of someway on how you can make it interesting I guess it on the person reading the essay to judge if it is interesting or not so I think it's better to be vulnerable and just show the real you. I think there are goods and bads in us (cliche but true) like the balance in nature. I might be messy and indecisive most of the times but I am also creative and open minded most of the times. I dont know if this answers your question but I hope this helps Edit: for college preference I'd go for schools within a low crime rate state.
Also they say the math is algebra, geometry and trig yet the way they word the questiond make it seem like its own genre
person below is gay I agree, it’s very rigorous with not nearly enough time to think
Yeah but the thing is, putting in the time to learn, even if you know it doesn’t measure your intelligence, is important because it can give you thousands of more dollars in scholarships.
This made me laugh omg💀💀
s b how you gonna go to sat prep and still get that low. I ain’t even know what that shit was until March junior year. Got an 1190, but like lowkey finna study a lil. Wanna 1400, but I agree, sat prep ain’t it
how long did u study for...?
Jeez, you are stress-relieving I had like 50 different depressions before I watch this vid thank you so much.
Just started my sophomore year... got a 1230 on the 8/9 PSAT which is a projected 1290 on my actual PSAT, and then a 1380 on SAT. Not good. Definitely needed this video. Thank you so much!

Another bonus is that ACT releases a ton of their exams, so you have a ton of OFFICIAL exams to practice with, rather than just the 8 that College board gives out.
how could i improve my score in reading section. my reading score is sucks .
You’re so smart 🤧
thank you for the "test scores /= intelligence", i was a 'gifted kid' growing up, it gave me a lot of imposters syndrome and eventually my drive to do good in school just ran out. now, every time i take a test my heart is pounding so loud in my ears i can't even hear myself read the questions in my head :( i might be/might've been smart, but my test/exam anxiety is so bad it doesnt matter 😭💜 ty for this
I had a 1370 on my SAT I started studying the summer of sophomore year and my whole junior years until the exam...I’m lucky I took u got my score on the first try so yeah...you can do it just gotta work hard for it which is not easy...I’m genuinely lazy myself but the end result Is benefiting 😙

So glad it helped! ❤️
I got 1030 and am a sophomore
do you think it is possible to get around 1400?
bape man same :/
I am not joking, but I raised my 1030 to a 1350 this summer. 2 months was enough for me for the jump. Initially, I thought it was impossible. I do have asian parents which helped push me a little bit, but you got this!
Proof: imgur.com/a/FHVfcQl ( I blurred out the test dates for my privacy)
The SAT test does not define intelligence.
Resources I would recommend:
1) Khan academy (Link your college board)
2) Crack SAT (website for practice tests)
3) A good prep book that you can afford or the ones she recommended for practice
Good luck to everyone! Just know it can only rain forever. I was very unconfident. The sunshine will show from the practice eventually. All the best!
Damn. I’m a sophomore too and i just took a practice SAT from one of my prep books and got got a 970.😐😐😐
I took one when I was freshman and I got 1230
@@loplolalh oof i got a 1220 as a freshman
I would love to know :)))

me: in 7th grade in quarantine watching videos about college
It's better that while you still have years you know where you are heading in the future.
I am in my last year of high school watching this vid.
@@yvoniecalicaran5858 I’m in 7th grade too. I watch these videos for a weird interest I have about college and grades. Middle school grades in my opinion are easy to obtain, but high-school is harder, right? I hope to take a couple of clubs. Math and science clubs, a debate and speech club, and a chess club. Not because they would look good on my applications, but because I love them so much!
@@chloeoh1245 Too for you. Will I ended up being a wallflower I think.
I have nothing to put in my application tbh. I just hoping my essay gpa and sat score will compensate for it
@@yvoniecalicaran5858 What colleges do you think you would like to apply to?
I dont know if this answers your question but I hope this helps
Edit: for college preference I'd go for schools within a low crime rate state. But unis in NY are just amazing (i mentioned something related to this but anyways)
