Scotty is a great pioneer that is still felt today. Some of his licks are amazing: the two fiery leads on "Hound Dog," the jazz infused lead in "Too Much" and the chugging rhythm on "Mystery Train" just to name a few. RIP Scotty.
I've never seen this before. This is great !! I'm glad Scotty Moore, DJ Fontaine, and the Jordanaires agreed to do this. Man... I'd love to play a guitar like Scotty Moore.
Scotty is/was my Godfather and Ronnie was my Pawpaws good friend as well this video brought me tears its been too ong since i heard "Play that thang Scotty"
Ronnie is a great entertainer. I have worked with him and the Jordanaires several times and also Scotty Moore. Met him and spoke with him. Very nice man. He would answer any question you asked him about the music business and I didn't forget DJ. He was there also at times.
What a guitar player! Scotty was responsible for Elvis' early sound! It was great to have Pat Boone & Ronnie McDowell part of fabulous trip to memory lane! Thank you for posting
Thank you guys for this awesome music and memories of Elvis. That was a great time in America. The late Mr. Scotty was what really made Elvis and his sound. Thank you Mr. Ronnie McDowell and Mr. DJ for the memories as well. RIP Mr. Scotty and Mr. Bill.
Scotty Moore, that brilliant guitarist who along with Bill Black (Standup Bass) & Sam Phillips (Sun Studios) gave Elvis the path to allow him to use his God given talent to ensure the enjoyment of millions of people who rocked to the sound of tunes like, Hound Dog, That's alright, Mystery Train (a favourite of mine & Rick Danko's & I'm sure many millions of others) & most of the tunes that got us bopping. Scotty was was 84 years old & still lived in Nashville at the time of his passing away ! Scotty Moore, influenced guitarists such as "Keef" Richards, Jimmy Page, Bruce Springsteen & I'm sure, many more. That "bank of great guitarists" is at such a level now, I'm sure I can hear the Concert of the Universe, starting up ! RIP Scotty. Thanks for the great style you added to that Rockabilly scruff, Elvis !
Can we give some credit to the man Mr. Ray Butts that put the tape delay in Scotty's guitar amplifier and also boosted it from 15 to 25 watts, that has got to be part of the beginning of Rockabilly and also Rock and Roll. Was it Sam Phillips? Ray Butts also invented the "Humbucker" pickup!
D RolyPolyMan “King Creole” was Elvis’ last movie before being inducted in the Army; in fact, the Army agreed to delay his induction to allow time to get the movie done.
He is a good friend of my family my son George the son the singing school teacher sings with Ronnie McDowell.. Many people don’t know he’s one of the first people to give the King of Pop one of his first awards... Give it up to the Legendary Ronnie McDowell . Novelist and Poet Who’s Buried in Grandmother’s Garden? Marion Joy Cripps MJDC DICKERSON
Right after Tom Parker purchased the Elvis' contract he wanted to replace Scotty and Bill with Hank Snow's band. So glad Elvis said no. Elvis would never been what he became.
Scotty has always played hollow body Gibsons, with the exception of a Fender Telecaster he had before with Elvis. The guitar he has here I believe is a Gibson Chet Atkins prototype given to him by Chet. He has that one and another that is customized to his specifications. Hope that helped :)
TMNT39 yeah okay. Scotty was definitely not a tele guy just did not suit him. Gibson would be the best choice as he loved those hollow body guitars which suited him IMO. mosrite60
Sponge or some kind of foam--musicians do this to mute the sound of the strings (kind of like palm muting). If you watch this video of The Beatles playing Revolution, look closely and you'll see a large chunk of foam under the strings near the saddle of McCartney's bass. ruclips.net/video/BGLGzRXY5Bw/видео.html
That’s a piece of history you are watching. They should have talked less about Elvis and more about Scotty. Elvis and tom parker threw Scotty under the bus so to speak. Evil mean thing to do.
Brenda Isajiw elvis died in 1977 so it would do no good for him to complain on the tv show how Elvis cast him aside. As you may know, Scotty was instrumental (pardon the pun) in getting Elvis into success and making early hits. Yet He and his wife did not financially gain much when Elvis cast them aside. They earned as little as $100 a week. Do unto others as you would have done to you.
RONNIE McDOWELL, IS A GREAT ENTAINER , AND A NICE & "DOWN TO EARTH " MAN . I CERTAINLY ENJOYED KNOWING HIM & HIS SON RONNIE " D". WE SPENT SOME TIME WITH THEM IN MEMPHIS AT AN " ANNUAL " ??? WITH SCOTTY MOORE & MY SISTER

Without SCOTTY We Wouldnt have Known Elvis as we Do AND The Whole Music scene would have been different. He was The GUITAR that Changed the World .

To the end, Scotty never lost it. I never saw this clip before, but Scotty was on FIRE!
Scotty is a great pioneer that is still felt today. Some of his licks are amazing: the two fiery leads on "Hound Dog," the jazz infused lead in "Too Much" and the chugging rhythm on "Mystery Train" just to name a few. RIP Scotty.

Yes...Sir!!!!
I always liked this song and the movie too. One of Elvis early films before he went into the Army!

D RolyPolyMan “King Creole” was Elvis’ last movie before being inducted in the Army; in fact, the Army agreed to delay his induction to allow time to get the movie done.

SHOOOW
Why didn't you list the date this was recorded or aired?
Right after Tom Parker purchased the Elvis' contract he wanted to replace Scotty and Bill with Hank Snow's band. So glad Elvis said no. Elvis would never been what he became.
It's nice to see this Scott was a part of Elvis RIP both🙏
Scotty Moore, Should have got as much credit as Elvis; for that sound
I believe this is scottys guitar that was given to him by chet atkins.
Anyone know what year this was recorded?
Winfield Scott Moore.
Scotty has a new guitar. Anyone know which model it is? Perhaps Gretsch as he always played one. Still can lay on the licks damm good. mosrite60
Gibson would be the best choice as he loved those hollow body guitars which suited him IMO. mosrite60
TMNT39 Exactly. He never played a Gretsch. Always holow body Gibsons. ES 295, Super 400, etc. Ken,Toronto
Almost everytime he played a Gibson Super 400
He's got Sponge Bob under his strings. Poor Sponge Bob!
Hi
Does Scotty have a sponge by the guitar saddle? :O Never seen that before.

I'd rather seen Pat Boone get up there with the Jordanaires and Scotty would have been more authentic
I would have been great if pat boon played with these guys , thats more authentic
Elvis is still alive .he lives in kalamazoo,mi..he works in a convenient store.
I would have rather seen Pat Boone get up there and sing with Scotty DJ and the Jordanaires
That’s a piece of history you are watching. They should have talked less about Elvis and more about Scotty. Elvis and tom parker threw Scotty under the bus so to speak. Evil mean thing to do.
Scotty doesn't look like or act like he's got anything against Elvis. Why do you?
Brenda Isajiw elvis died in 1977 so it would do no good for him to complain on the tv show how Elvis cast him aside. As you may know, Scotty was instrumental (pardon the pun) in getting Elvis into success and making early hits. Yet He and his wife did not financially gain much when Elvis cast them aside.
