Same thing just happened to my 2019 Rav4LE rock punctured condenser they want 1040$ for labor after watching this video im confident i can do it my self thank you sir, ordered 884A0-33020 condenser assy would i need to vacuum pump after installation and before recharging ? Thanks a ton
Yes, you will need a vacuum pump. I recommend doing the labor then taking it to a shop for full evac and recharge. Should not cost much for AC service.
When I reinstall the condenser, should I add in the oil myself before I drive over to get the AC recharged, or should I have the shop add in the condenser oil and charge the system with refrigerant.
Nice job... Just wondering what it costs for an OEM Toyota condenser and what the total bill to the customer was on this. I did my 2014 Rav4 for a cost of $170 for an aftermarket condenser which fit perfect and works well. Also 1-2 cans of r-134a refrigerant. I have a vacuum pump and gage set. I guessed at about 1 oz of oil and I was pretty close to what you had. Also, what the heck kind of fitting is that on the lower tube. The 2014 has both flanges with a 10mm hex screw. Easy remove and replace. Thanks
Depending on the shop rate, this job would probably be around 1,000 parts and labor. Ya, the new fitting is not that great from a mechanics perspective. The bolt style was much easier to deal with.
Hey man, I appreciate the help so much. One more question. I am putting mine back together (a 2022) and the kit came with a plastic cap and media (I think that’s what it is) to put in the dryer on the condenser. I didn’t see this in your video and was confused and searched up the number. The number linked me to exactly what I had but it was on a ford parts website for a Ford. My dryer on the condenser already has a cap in the dryer part. Can you shed any light on this?
I would probably pull the cap and see if there is a desiccant bag in there. You probably have to install it. The cap that is on there now was just for assembly and testing. The desiccant pulls moisture out of the system as soon as the wrap is opened. The bag will start pulling moisture out of the air. I think aftermarket companies don't install them because they don't know how long the part may sit on the shelf. Hope this info helps.
@@nathanmoore7100 same here man. Rock hit it and put pin holes in it and no more ac. I’m a DIY mechanic and was able to get it done with buying all the tools still almost half of what the dealer quoted.
Hi, I have a question, my 2019 Rav4, do I have to replace the condenser? My question is... is this product (Lubricants ND-OIL 12) for all new condensers and do I have to put it in my condenser too even though my Rav4 is the LE model? Or is it only for hybrid models?
Hey man, is this process the same for the 2022 Toyota RAV4 LE FWD NOT hybrid? I am figuring out the condenser is slightly different than the 2019-2021. But is the process the same?
Excellent video Drew!!! I've liked and subscribed to your channel. I have a 2021 RAV4 Prime that dealer said there a pinhole leak in my condenser but my A/C is still cold. Do you think I can use some J-B Weld to stop the leak? Thanks, Michael
It could be depending on the warranty company you need to word it correctly that it has a pin hole leak. If you mention a rock or some sort of debre, it could get denied.
What is the difference between this part (884A0-3320 A/C Condenser Assembly) and (884A0-06020 A/C Condenser Assembly)? Both parts fit my RAV4 and it is not a Hybrid. I'm just double checking before I go out and buy a part not meant for my car.
One number is for a factory part, and the other is for an aftermarket part. Factory and aftermarket don't share the same part number. The 3320 may not come with the o-ring and clip. So you may need to purchase them separately.
Me and my son watched this while eating our breakfast. He was thoroughly enjoying this tutorial!
Glad somone is enjoying it.
Hey man! I got my AC up and running. Saved nearly $700 on the repair. Really really appreciate it! Thanks for answering my questions!
I'm glad you got it figured out.
This video saved me so much money, easily 1k from the dealership. Thank you for uploading!
I'm glad the video was helpful. Thank you!

Great detailed video. Do you happen to know the O ring toyota part number? And would it be the same for a 2012 Rav4? Thank you.
I'm not sure what the part number for the o-ring is.

Either way will work. Make sure the shop you take it to has an oil injector.
como se llama el retenedor que le cambias, a la tubería inferior del condensador.

@@shoptimewithdrew ok. It was supposed to be a genuine Toyota part from a Toyota dealer but I could be wrong. Thanks 👍🏼
I’m about to do this job myself hit a piece of gravel on way home ac.gone

All the new cars with R1234-YF refrigerant take the newer oil.

We would not fix it with jb at the dealer, but it is your car. You can definitely try it. It could work.
I think I’ll try since there’s nothing to lose. Thanks again ‼️

Thanks Drew keep doing what your doing
Have you done one on the hybrid rav4? specifically the plug in? Are there any difference? ( 884A0-42050 ) is the part # for the plug in. Thanks!
I have not done one on a hybrid yet it should be similar.

I prefer blue tape but I guess yellow works for newbs...
Yellow is what the shop provides.
I work at Toyota as well and man the new gen Camry and way easier than this rav 4
Have not done a Camry one yet. What kind of bike is that in your thumbnail hard to see.
That plastic clip for the ac line is the dumbest design.
Ya, what was wrong with a bolt.
Agreed. What should be a 15 minute job becomes an hour.
Dude, all you have to do is pull the core support out-of-the-way, drop the chin spoiler down and you can access everything..
