    Bad companies and products should be called out in order to avoid the bubble

    We need to shine a light on bad deals to stop companies from copying them. The real issue isn't the product but the cost. If a product was being sold for about $30, that'd be cool. But asking for monthly fees and a big payment upfront? Not cool. If companies see they can get away with this, we'll see more of them selling subpar products at high prices. That's why I'm glad MKBHD and others are calling this out. We don't want to see tech heading in this direction.

    Another issue with this device, is that it]s so opaque. I can]t see what processes are running , what is doing, why is warming up. Opaque and closed tech are more than just an annoyance they are a security risk in terms of privacy. For example how can we as users be sure that no one can hack into one of those and use it as a listening device ?

    They should just make the Pin for the car to stick it somewhere on the dash and later transition it (once refined) to the human body.

    The company must understand these issues? Maybe they do but want to get into the wearable market early and iterate as time goes on. Risky strategy if they are.

    I spend hours a day thinking in a product or service that would help in a useful way, and can’t find an answer or have a reasonable idea. People who make those kinds of products just don’t think too much in it. How can they make profit of that? Maybe the business is, they just “shoot everywhere” and, if it’s a hit, they are done. Just an invention in a hundred, and we are here complaining…
    Just some rough thoughts, don’t take it too seriously 😅

    I like the design part, but I don't like the price and other technical aspects of it. Some company should buy this design and change it into an extension of your phone as both camera and extended screen. For the price, it should be in the same range as mid-price bluetooth. It is a gimmick device anyway.

    They want to be the apple of ai. From the costs, really, an extra 100 just for a different colour?!?! And the trying to lock you into them. Thats one of the reasons it doesnt connect to your phone I rekn. Coz then you could make your own apps that dont rely on their ai service. You could use your own sim and not have to be locked into theirs. And youd realize you dont need their service, only their device.
    Take out the phone service of the device and connect it to a phone and it could have been lighter and need less power which would mean it doesnt need to be constantly charging from that second battery which is prolly where the constant warmth is coming from. I could see many areas (especially work related ones) in which such a device could be very handy.

  • @p6x2
    @p6x2 Месяц назад

    This is a complete fiasco launch; there is consensus among all the people that reviewed, the AI Pin is a no-go. @Olivio: it was extremely important for this pin to NOT be an extension of your cell phone. They wanted to be completely independent because they want you to leave your phone in your pocket.

    IMO, this product was released to late, like decades too late.... before phones took over everything. Would had been the dream come true for Star Trek visionaries. And again, too early in their development, when the technology is not their to support it. Humane did not look at all the scenarios either. This would work well as an "additional" device that connects to your phone and using its data. Second, would also connect to a wearable device, but then again, a wearable device like an advanced RayBan or ultra thin Vision Pro 27 AIR exists that would display all the data onto your lens.... and then again, why would I need Humane?

    $700 for another snooping machine collecting your data to sell. People who have phones already have one of those. Also, where I live, you'd be lucky to get a few hundred yards down the street before getting mugged and the thing ripped off your clothing...nobody even uses a phone out in the open.
    Re: Google translate...for most languages it is still absolutely terrible. Not to mention speech recognition is still a very, very long way from being useful...unless you speak in a very generic accent it was designed to work with and that is NOT the norm. I can travel in 30 miles in ANY compass direction and come to a different UK accent...some of which are so broad that none of these sorts of apps ever have any reliable success in translating/understanding.

    I have to disagree with the Siri part. I love Siri and don’t even want to have Gemini added to it. I got ChatGPT linked to Siri already if I need to get more info (or wanna get annoyed :D). Siri also controls my complete house (but only interfaces with my local server that controls everything). Love my solution and never wanna miss Siri as the assistant. I also tested Alexa and Google but threw them out. Siri can’t do much but does it perfectly. Alexa just sells you stuff and Google listens (actually both. My DNS server went nuts and blocked like crazy).
    So leave Siri alone. She is the best 😅

    I think youre a little bit confused about the subscription level especially with the amount of funding they got. Its quite simple, the investors want thier money back. and theres a payback schedule in the investment contracts that the developer must comply. And I think thats why the cost is so high and also why the sub is high. Typical...

    You all don't have blind (or senior aged) friends as it seems. If you are a senior that did not grow up with smartphones or if your eyes are too weak to see anything on small touchscreens, an AI Pin that is used via SPEECH can be a GAME CHANGER. Even more since ALL smartphone UIs are waaaaay too complicated and too overcrowded for handicapped people.
