    I really appreciate how objective you have been with the vehicle and how others have reviewed it. It really is a great looking and promising vehicle. It's unfortunate that the company was not well managed. I hope your issues get ironed out and you have a good, fun vehicle to drive for years. Again, kudos for the objectivity and well thought out responses to the criticisms of this vehicle - you've got a new subscriber.

    Not a fan of Marquez but it seems like Fisker did this to themselves by delivering substandard duds that require you to learn unintuitive, less-than-straightforward procedures just to operate a vehicle. I just want to jump in and enjoy a drive, not operate the Space Shuttle.

    Had couple techs come out to manually update my OS to 2.0 this morning - they were great as was the other tech that came out couple weeks ago to fix the aeroflaps. I have an issue with the fan behind the rearview mirror (ADAS housing) blowing constantly at full speed which 2.0 didn't fix and the tech told me this would be addressed with 3.0 which should be coming during Q2. Sounds like they're still developing further OS updates as others have mentioned although who knows how long this may go on for...
    Regarding those damn aeroflaps... the tech replaced those couple weeks ago but ripped off again after about a week. The tech from today said they're redesigning/re-engineering that part but until then they will continue to rip off and there's no point of getting a tech to install a new one as they'll soon fail again.

    I was very interested in the Fisker Ocean, but I finally got the opportunity to see the most honest review, which was done by MKBHD. During the review, a lot of bugs were discovered, including the really silly things like the drive modes. Damn. Before watching MKBHD's review, I saw many reviews about the Fisker Ocean, and nobody mentioned that! Why? It is very important. On paper, having several drive modes sounds good, but in reality, they are really poor. When you buy a car, I understand that not everything can be perfect, but the way the drive modes were engineered shows the real intentions or the approach the car manufacturer took to possibly mislead the new car owners.

    Parking brake needing to be released is a problem. I don’t care what you say. My 2015 car doesn’t have this issue. I’ve never even heard of it before this fisker vehicle. And it would drive me insane if I had to do it every time I needed to move the car a few inches.

    • @umer936
      @umer936 2 месяца назад

      Yeah agree. It doesn't really matter what the "reasoning" behind it is. The fact that you're ready to drive and have to do a unique operation to start going is silly. Probably would have not been a complaint actually if it said (amid all the other beeps and warnings) to "Release Parking Brake," but it's 100% a problem if I have to read the owner's manual just to move the car.
      Our 2013 Lexus with like 200k miles handles the e-parking brake completely on it's own. You get in, put it in gear, and it disengages the parking brake. No fuss - you literally don't even notice.

    Hey Adam, i greatly appreciate your videos and have been following for a few years now. I also want to mention that I agree with your videos 98% of the time. But i received 2.0 over the air a couole of weeks ago, as did many others. The key fob works way better, and I mean way better, I haven't had a single issue, now I understand some peoole may have some issues still but I've seen a lot of people commenting how much the key fob has been improved. And if you leave the Standby Time to 24 hours, you don't experience the boot up screen in the car, this too is a fact. I still want to thank you for your effort when it comes to putting these videos out, especially as quickly as you do 🙏

    • @ScottBassin

You’re also correct, standby doesn’t happen if you set to 24 hours and drive it every day. I described this in the video as well. What part of the video was inaccurate? I’ll post a correction immediately

    • @ScottBassin
      @ScottBassin 8 месяцев назад +1

      I found the video to be accurate, as usual. I didn’t know about how one could drive without putting their seatbelt on, so that was new to me but not something I care too much about (so long as it continues to work!). The only difference in my own experience is that the key fob doesn’t really seem any better. I’m thinking of dropping a new battery into it now that I’m on 2.0 in case that helps.

    It did add a sound for the trunk opening and closing which is nice and the new sounds are significantly better but yeah.

    7:05 - 300 mls are 482 km assuming a 20 kWh / hkm consumption you would need roughly 100 kWh of solar production.
    That would mean compared to a fixed installation on the roof with 35° angle facing south would need 100 Wp to generate it.
    100 Wp , what a shame considering that a real 1 x 1,70 panel is usually about 450 Wp, here 400 Wp are sold for half of the price for being outdated.
    They should have gotten lot more out of the roof which means that there should be enough space to achieve that.
    At the end Fisker is another example cause the first was SION which went bankrupt before production last year, which was a german startup in Munich always being behind targets and funded by the crowd. 25000€ was their price goal and they had delays and delays and went for another begging round. 25000€ is incl. 19% vat, so right now roughly 24000$ net price, but they never produced a produciton car nor delivered one, but some of crowd funders had paid the full price and were promised to get their money back, which then did not happen.
    At least you have gotten a car , far better than the SION backers who got nothing out of their car purchase or should I say car bet ?
    That car gained or claimed to gain 35 km max. range - on 3 days a year in munich or more south but had solar panel hood, roof and also on the sides and doors, a much bigger area for solar panels, but still not the most impressive figure - at least if you consider all the implications and high production costs to get a hood shaped solar panel. But they do own a lot of patents or rather had owned the patents.

    The sleek design and innovative features of Fisker's vehicles fit Apple's aesthetic perfectly, I think Apple should buy Fisker and relaunch it as Apple Car. Its weakness (software) would become its greatest strength overnight Launch the (renamed) Pear and Alaska along with the Ocean. With the unlimited marketing budget and gigantic fandom already built in from Apple, It would be massive. Continue to design the cars from that same factory, with Apple overseeing the quality control and making improvements before relaunch (such as Apple-made hi-res screens, Beats audio system, instead of "ocean" have the Apple logo glowing on the front like the old Macs) .

    Just the Ocean has more but still not far from some other brands.
    Example, I’ve had a few recent cars that I had to do the update via a Flash Drive, annoying yes, still easy though. Post Covid all cars seem to suck. And your latest videos trying to trash the company without giving them time to correct the issues you have had with your car since your purchase is getting quite irritating and it is quite disrespectful to the company and to us shareholders.
    I get it, I am down more than the value of your car, while you temporarily cannot sell your two month old car at a profit. But you bought the car believing you got a great deal on the Ocean Sport. For what is available in the EV space, your Ocean Sport is a great deal, although the software could be better, and hopefully will be in the near future. Maybe the company will go down, but please do not assist in bringing down the company. You are a great reviewer and very thoughtful in putting together your videos, but SOMETIMES, you just go too far.

    While I love your deep dive into Marques 2.0 review that contains mostly true facts, I disagree about the perfection demand he insinnuated in that video.
    I don't say that just for hating on Marques, as I actually like most of his reviews as well, but because I have been fiddling with cars of all kinds for centuries now.
    There had been an unwritten rule as a journalist to not review a car you can't at least relate a little to. If I would review a 2 seated Alfa spider, or a Bugatti Veyron, they would be shown as absoultely horrible cars no one should buy. Why? Ridiculous fragile to operate (over speed bumps, on snow, for transporting a washing maschine, a 2 year old child,...) vastly overpriced for what they offer, no interior comfort, from companies that could end their operation soon,... I know, that rule to review cars in an at least polite way has been broken for electric cars for years now, as bashing them had become the new Norm for reviews, even for established motor journalists. The first Model S reviews from the german motor journalist Bloch around 2014 were a disgrace. He has mostly flipped sides now, and I respect that somewhat, but lets be real - the EV wave is coming, if not from europe, it will come from china.
    The Austrian Pinzgauer off road car would be horrible for most review people of todays mindset , but they were made under certain circumstances, from a little company focused on mechanical engineering (the same one building the Fisker Ocean nowadays by the way...) and anihilated other offroad cars of the same size and road worthiness for centuries. We have a 6 Wheel closed version (beside a 4 wheel version and other offraod cars) , that we took for a skiing vacation in Gastein 20 years ago. It was warm and comfortable, with a full fledged working desk I used for CAD drawing while travelling the 500 km from our home. On site we daily just chose a huge snow pile, drove it up there and got out a few meters from the ski elevator entrance. If I get in teh Pinzgauer, it drives special in a good way, even 50 years after production. At work I drive a 2016 Renault Traffic, a sporty and overall great car, most passenger Ice cars are slow ducks in comparison. If I would get a similar driving electric version I would love it as well. Every car has been a compromise, there can and will never be the car that fits perfect for all car buyers. I respect Tesla for revolutionising production methods and pricing of Super sports cars (thats what they would have called them 20 years ago), but these don't fullfill my basic needs for pricing, transport capacity, interior style and size. But I can see why millions of people love them despite their flaws I can see.
    The Fisker Ocean seems to be a solid, perfectly usable car with little flaws. But such flaws are not reserved for EVs of startup companies. I remember Mercedes A class cars frequently stopping their engine in the middle of the highway for no reason. You had to lock and unlock the doors to drive again. The Mercedes dealership found no problems in multiple inspections in the two year old car. After four years and 240.000 km the front suspension broke while driving (the first hand owner had told the dealership about noises coming from there, but inspecting the car they told the owner to use it anyways, because their customer lendable car was not available. There are crappy unusable cars, but the Fisker Ocean does not deserve to be put in that category fromthe reviews I have seen so far.

    You have to remember there was a stalking horse bid in the last bankruptcy filing by a Chinese buyer. This might explain the corporate goings-on.
    The value in the company is its US domicile, which opens vehicles up to subsidy. For Marques, he expresses conspicuous consumption, so to him, there is NO WAY anyone can express conspicuous consumption by buying a Fisker.
    If Fisker had half an ounce of intelligence, they would send Marques a Ronin.

    simply not true. I'm OK with bad reviews. But you can't present incorrect info as facts. I have an ocean
    1) 2.0 was installed OTA
    2) slow wake up it's a setting under power. If you have it under max power save at 10 seconds, then it will go to sleep and it takes longer to unlock and power up. Set that setting to 24 hours and it's faster. I have it set to 24 hours, no issues.
    3) Parking break w/o seatbelt. You can press the parking break button with your foot on the break and it will go into Drive or reverse. I don't see this as an issue. Never had a problem getting it moving without the seatbelt on.
    4) Display flashing between acceleration, deceleration. Turn the brightness down in settings. I don't have the issue you described.
    5) Regen over bumps. It's your foot moving the pedal. If you leave your foot off, it won't hiccup like you described. I don't experience what you reported.

Kicking guys when they're down isn't a good look. I don't own Fisker stock. I think they're gorgeous cars, and they're certainly different. I live close-ish to their headquarters, and it would be a shame to see so many people lose their jobs. HOpefully they can figure this out. They could start with getting a new CEO.

      The bigger question is did he lie and based on this review of MKBHD review he did not lie. Something to note that is critical we normal people love reviews from people are not in the car space because it is not as polished and most times emotionally based for good or bad purposes. He had the car, he said he has tested and it was the worst for him. When he continues to test more another car will become the worst for him. Fisker messed but hopefully they can get back on the road and try again. I love how the car looks

    Adam... thanks for a great "Fact Check" on MKBHD's FISKER OCEAN "2.0" review. No pun intended. You had a objective view on things. I smh at MKBHD's review of the "seatbelt" and "parking" option. My FOO got 2.0 "OTA" update. No issues. I'm happy to note that the OS 2.0 baseline has vastly improved my quality of rides. I wonder if FISKER will update the "energy" option (in the central screen/settings), to enable or disable the 120V AC outlet. Happen to come across a Instagram video of the Fisker OS 2.0 update which showed enable/disable of AC outlet. Keep up the good work.

    Whether he was honest or not he's certainly biased. You said it yourself, if you want him to give a good review, let him be first. He's a spoiled tech tuber who needs his boots licked. Once Fisker had the audacity to ask him to wait for 2.0 they might as well have just written him off altogether.

    • @Aslash304

      I understand your point of view. Once you sell a consumer product, you can no longer control who sees it and what they do with it. What you can control is how people are treated, and the nature of the communication. I’m certain Fisker wrote him off immediately. Hence the initial review.

    • @vhg2599
      @vhg2599 8 месяцев назад +2

      This is not very likely. Other reviewers, like Kyle and Bjorn Nyland has mentioned Fisker not willing to give them a press car for review. Nyland even had scheduled a review with Fisker, but Fisker pulled out last minute. And this is a guy that occasionally get prototype and pre production cars for review
      The reason seems pretty obvious; Fisker knew they were releasing a half baked product in hope of quickly being able to iron out issues and bugs. But they did not set up their delivery and service organization to be able to handle the amount of cars they said they would be delivering and they never seemed to take software seriously (Karma, Website, email systems etc).
      Fisker tried to contain the bad press they knew was going to come, and they partially succeeded, but as we see from Carwow, CR, Brownlee, Alex on Autos, even 9 months into deliveries, this car is really not that good.

      Let's unpack your nonsense:
      You admit you have no idea what you're talking about. Great start. 🙄
      Companies WANT early access because they value his honest feedback. Ever think of that?
      He's successful because he's been working hard at this for YEARS. Get over it.
      Fisker's problem was their product, not Marques wanting a finished version to review.
      Sounds like you're the one with a serious case of jealousy. 🤷‍♀

    I understood him to be saying that pre 2.0 cars needed a tech visit to be updated to 2.0. Is that no longer true? Your car came with 2.0 and still had to be updated by a tech and then after the first update could be updated OTA. He said that once updated it could then OTA updates. You even quote him as saying it can more be plugged in while getting an OTA update.

    I feel like you and MK are way too negative. I agree there are some issues with the car some issues, and yes some are annoying. But as a car it is amazing. The quality of the interior is superb, the car drives like a dream and feels nimble. The beeping from the Fipilot can be turned off but that is not a Fisker spesific issue. I came from a MB EQC and switched to a ocean one and I personally love it. I think with the next software update moste off the critical issues will be gone and the car will be woth the MSRP. Why Fisker gets all this hate is beyond me, it is not like it is the only car with some big issues. I like to compare Fisker with Tesla, and the fisker as a car blows Tesla out of the water, and teslas are no strangers to software and quality issues.
    I leave this comment not to bash on Adam or Marques, they have the right to their own opinion, but I disagree with them on many points. My car functions great as a daily driver and a long trip runner. I recently drove over 1500km in one go without issues what so ever, and it is my daily to and from work and the kindergarden. If they go lights out I will run this car untill it dies and keep it alive as long as I can, no doubt.

    While I think part of Marques’ review is sort of accurate, to me it was damage control because he got so much blowback. He said he never reviewed a car twice but obviously, he was trying to clean up his mess. That said, as an Ocean One owner for 6 months I still don’t agree with some of the things you are agreeing with and I run a group with hundreds of verified Ocean One owners. True, some have had issues with 2.0 leaving cars disabled or affecting acceleration but this is a very small minority. I myself got 2.0 part 1 and then part 2 on March 25th…completely OTA with zero issues. I know of a few that had issues but most I’ve spoken with have not. Here’s a video I shot unlocking my Ocean from 100+ feet away with 1 click. What I’m saying is that Marques’ experience and your experience does not represent the vast majority of customers. I’m in touch with them all day long and know this to be true. I also find it strange that Marques was double-ing down on his prior comments however he admittedly had nothing real negative to say about 2.0. True, he had no idea how the parking break worked (which is the same as every car on Earth…step on brake, release parking brake) and the droplets are annoying at first but after a few months you don’t even notice them. Hill hold is great, the 45/55 traction adjustment is fantastic, the audio update is great…yes we are STILL waiting for promised features but I just really need to be clear that the experiences of a few such as yourself, don’t represent the vast majority. Actual customers post tons of great feedback since receiving 2.0. You’re a fact checker, check the facts man and do better.

      If you have to say things like “but this is a small minority”…. Does that make it so there are no problems? And who am I protecting by pretending there aren’t problems? There’s no more shareholder value. And why did Fiskerati just quit? If my videos aren’t objective, then don’t let people post them on your forum. They are probably just a small minority.

    • @RSuweidan
      @RSuweidan 7 месяцев назад

      I just think it’s important to be clear. Nothing to protect at all, Fisker leadership ran the company to the ground everyone knows that #GeetaGottaGo . Sean at Fiskerati sold his Ocean. I just don’t think it’s fair to say that it was an accurate call that part of 2.0 led to bricked cars which techs needed Magna’s assistance while OTA had stopped. I don’t know of one case where that happened. People were already scheduled for service for months and if they were lucky enough to have a service call, techs would install 2.0 while serving their cars. There was a time when OTA was paused for a week I believe while they repackaged the software into smaller chunks and in that time, even the techs couldn’t install it…once resumed it was back to OTA. You definitely had a bad experience and I know of a few others that did as well. I’m not saying there were no problems, I’m saying the majority of us did not have problems and the few vocal ones do not represent all of us. Happy folks normally don’t take the time to post their experience all over the net. Unhappy folks as you know, will scream the loudest…that still doesn’t mean they represent everyone.

    Unfortunately MKB and others cycle through an algorithm that eventually requires they land a sensationally NEGATIVE for clicks review and it SHOULD BE about TESLA’s stupid single point of failure design choices on MANY features: door handles, removing buttons, ac vents, ROAD NOISE way too high for a car that should be THE QUIETEST, all controls require take eyes off road, Teslas are THE WORST car reviewed

    I really really hate that Fisker is likely going under, because this vehicle is in my opinion easily one of the most well-designed and beautiful electric SUVs on the market. It seems to me like hardware wise and design wise it's great, and it's all let down by abysmal alpha release level software. Makes me wish that they had enough money and funding to keep at it for another year or two, because it feels like that could turn this whole thing around. Of course their reputation is in tatters so even if they fix ALL the software issues people might still not give them a chance. Oh well. Such a shame.
