    Decent electric assist bicycles can be had for less than a thousand dollars these days, and good used bicycles without electric assist are at historic low prices used right now. You, and your Fisker buyers , did not make a mistake. You all worked in good faith. This was a pre-ordained outcome of using federal largesse, and parachuting out of the situation, on a golden parachute, before the next election. Just like Solyndra, same game plan, just like the other car this guy made and Failed at. If you look at the pattern, all the electric car companies and any green energy credit companies are ALL doing this before the Election. The Federal grants are over, the money is spent and a few people will sail away to bermuda to perhaps think of another failed start up, car or windmill or battery company. Ford , Chevy, all the big players are getting out at the same time? what is the Pattern? An Election and no more grant money for clean energy. There is going to be alot more close downs, shut downs, Vapor-Ware care companies and promises before all this is over. Great Channel and Videos and no DisRespect Meant.

    I have some advice on an EV, actually an EV for 170ish miles and then, magically, becomes a hybrid. I actually own a 2020 BMW i3s REX. REX stands for range extender. There is a small scooter engine using 2.3 gallons of gas that runs a generator to maintain the high voltage battery state of charge. The advantage. I came back from California to Arizona, 320 miles. After 170-180 miles, and yes you can get 180 miles, I had to stop for electric. A 3 car wait for electric. Guess what, press a button and that gas engine kicks on for another 80 miles. So I wave bye. Next charging location even worse, a 4 car wait. I get another 2.3 gallons of gas and wave bye again. Take 180+80+80 and that's 340 miles and I'm in our garage. You do have to be careful. If you are going uphill at 75mph with AC blasting you will lose charge even with the REX on. So, don't turn it on with too low a charge as I have lost 7% electric. So, I turn it on at 20% charge, I loose 7% but on the downhill the regeneration recovers and even exceeds the loss. And you have to hack the programming using beemercode so you can turn on the REX at any charge less than 75% as US sets the REX to only computer controlled at 7% state of charge. You want to hack it so you have control of turning it on. Oh, I forgot to mention, the BMW i3, from 0-30 is faster than a Tesla and living in Scottsdale, AZ, where I see 3-4 Tesla's per mile, NO WAY am I considering a Tesla, NO WAY!!!! I'll also add that in Arizona with gas at $3.89/gal and electrify america charging .57 cents/kWh it's actually less expensive to run on gas vs. electric. Home charging is a great savings. Just get a 2019 or newer to get the larger battery.

      This Video explains the process starting at 6:42. Based on what you owe, you’re about $37k underwater (best case scenario). You’d need to find an alternative way to finance around $28k (assuming you can get $29k for your Ocean) in negative equity if the dealer would roll the maximum average negative equity into your loan (125%). And it’s Adam, for future reference. Hope this helps.

    One last comment. The folks that bought Oceans on the fire sale. You guys didn't do too badly as you bought at $37k, which you can find Oceans at that price. I found one, at $33k, but turned it down. But at $33k, my case, with your trade value at $25k that's not all that upside down. And, as long as it doesn't immediately break down you might be ok. Say it last 3 years, relatively trouble free, there might be service from those like the Fisker King which, depending on where you live it might be a $3k round trip shipping to him with a delay to get it back, but you didn't pay $70k so you might be ok with that. And if it gets totaled, I wonder what insurance would give you? You might not lose a penny if you paid $37k or $33k like I could have.

      I don't folks can count on Fisker King. He's technically Fisker Karma King. He doesn't have access to Fisker's code and might not be a programmer. Even the programmers are having difficulties. A lot of the problems are intermittent. Those are the most problematic. When and if this guy becomes the Fisker Ocean King, I will consider the car at the right price.

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  26 дней назад

      Take out the hypotheticals, and you’re left with a car with no company. $1,000 is the cheapest any labor will cost will be because there will only be a few experts. And they deserve it for the effort it will take to become experts and source parts. And it would have to be towed hundreds of miles in best case and thousands in worst case scenarios every time it needs something. It’s an old Lamborghini with no resale value. The only saving grace is the battery pack. It’s worth the wholesale aftermarket value of the battery pack.

At a certain point, they depreciated so low, it has to make sense to own one.. there WILL be service folks setting up special services for these…..

    • @Aslash304
      @Aslash304  25 дней назад

      Agreed. The service could be hundreds of miles away. Need a part? Just have your car shipped and then pay whatever the asking price is (any price is fair because there is no alternative, and it takes lots of effort to put together the resources) for the part and the shipping, and what would normally be a $750 repair ends up $5,000 after shipping and sourcing and effort from the shop. And the waiting. There’s no such thing as quick turnarounds. But, you’re right. There’s a non-zero chance that nothing will go wrong.

    • @jeffsousa399
      @jeffsousa399 25 дней назад +1

      So as I understand it if the company was still viable and had a warranty and Service dept, you’d still be OK with the vehicle? So it’s really not the car itself that you fear it’s the company.. At the end of the day, you drive the car not the company… That was my point if they’re cheap enough, you have to associate the risk with the investment.. Still damn hard to buy that range at this point in time.. What if it drove for 200 K with no issues? Maybe there’s a software update in the future that will help but the core of it seems solid to me..

Hope you covered your puts and your short position, and wish you well.
    I think that the most interesting part of your video was the large amount paid for a car supposedly worth only half of the $35k retail value. Carvana must think that your rare Ocean Sport will be worth near retail in the coming weeks. Now that is news.

    Thanks Adam for a great video with some very useful info! In my humble opinion, the outcomes are either i) bankruptcy with no Phoenix (90% chance); ii) bankruptcy with Phoenix (5% chance); or iii) no bankruptcy. The Phoenix of course would be a takeover once bankruptcy is declared, but of course the fact that Fisker is "asset lite" means that there is really very little to take over, perhaps with the exception of a few patents and Henrik's design skills. If there is an interested suitor, then of course they also might not be interested in taking on any of Fisker Inc's obligations either, and no doubt that would be the subject of negotiations. The other side of this is that dealerships are still placing a value on the car, so they must be confident that there will still be buyers of the vehicle going forward and that they will be able to honor commitments made to those purchasing the Ocean from them.
    One thing I would say that you didn't mention at all is that if the FOO is your only vehicle, then it is probably more important that you sell than if you have another reliable vehicle which you can use if things go pear shaped after bankruptcy.
    Lastly, I don't think it was a mistake to buy the car, as I think if money was not a consideration that the car would have likely turned out OK - the mistake was to think that Henrik had learned from his first attempt at launching a car company, and that the relationship between Magna Steyr and Fisker was rock solid ( - it has now clearly fallen apart). At any rate, Henrik can probably retire soon, while the rest of us will be digging out from under the financial mess that this car has caused in our financial (and emotional) lives. The lesson I learn from this is that you never buy a car without test driving it first, and without knowing that the company selling it to you actually produced it to begin with.

    There is a #4 option. Do what you do with cars .. like any other tool / appliance. Use it, Drive it, Love it. When it breaks, fix it if you can. You might have to try a little harder to fix an ocean, especially an Extreme with all it's extra bits and bobs. You might even be able to fix it yourself .. if you're handy like that or want to be. Live with the community and find parts via other drivers, the EV King or other dealer titans, or just manage to move forward (pun intended) with what you have. Alternatives might present themselves or not. I've got 180,000 miles on another vehicle (2006 Mini Cooper Convertible) that I can put about $10k in and make it safe to drive, if necessary.... should my Ocean stop functioning. If the reports over a new software push are true, v2.1 or even v3, then so much the better.

Fisker Inc. having used an establish car manufacturer for reduced market risk and speed to market was a sound plan and the car mechanically and styling wise has fairly unanimously been deemed sound. It was a reasonable expectation that the company would be managed responsibly - releasing with fundamentally buggy software and school boy failings in distribution of sold inventory couldn’t reasonably have be foreseen.
